The Hatter's dance was totally Disney's idea...come on, you know it was.

Maybe Burton and Depp should stop making movies together for awhile. In the long run this codependency is going to hurt both of them. Burton definitely needs to try and experiment with other actors rather than always using the same lead. I heard the last movie he did without Depp Big Fish was really good.

Ironically, that was one of the few movies I ever saw in the theater that made me walk out mid-way through.
:)

i'm starting to think Tim Burton is a 'Has been'

Alice was so BORRRRING.
i WOULD HAVE WALKED OUT IF I WASN'T ALONE : /

The girl who played Alice had no life to her.

the story was Horrible. The 3D gave me a headache..

and underland?? what was the point of that? And what was with all the eye jabbing/poking scenes...movie was just boring..

glad to see someone hated that movie too...

thats the only movie ive ever almost completely fell asleep watching

Bad movie, not gonna waste anymore time explaining why because if you've seen it you would know why.

I give it a 6.5, but leaning more toward 6.

I was really disappointed with Johnny Depp's performance of the Mad Hatter. Wasn't sure what interpretation he was even going for. It seemed like an odd concoction of Wonka, Sparrow, Edward and Sweeney but never really the Mad Hatter. Hell I think I may have seen some Tom Hanson in there too.

He was entertaining at times but I was disappointed that I couldn't really see a glimpse of a difference character except for a few moments (when he was speaking really fast for example).

And half the time I couldn't understand a word of what he was saying.

I don't think has been means what you think it means :yay:

My thing is it felt too modern day, didn't feel out of place though, just didn't like the style of dance or music used.

And there were no talking eggs.

I can see where that thought comes from, but at the same time I really enjoyed the variety of music. It was sounds I wasn't expecting, which I appreciated.

it's funny that the people i know either hated it, or just thought it was okay. 'Okay' being it was a decent movie but it could have been better.

So how would you rate this compared to Burton's Planet of the Apes/ Mars attacks?

better? worse? or around the same.

mars attacks rules all!

Alice is better than Planet of the APES and disgusting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

aLICE is as bad as Planet of the Apes, Catcf is probably better than both but just by a smidgen...
Burton is better as a designer he's directing has lacked...and story telling awful...

I just don't understand how you can compare or why you would even want to? Just because it is the same director, you wouldn't want the movies to be the same. I feel like if the films were similar you would hear people complaining that Burton has no originality and if they are different than people insist on ranking the films..

Wow, that is insane. Looks like people are really welcoming this film. Great job on week #3 Burton!

He does his best when he's doing original stuff. Alice, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory--all adaptations, all meh or worse. Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, all awesome. All original. I won't go into Batman...

He's not saying he wants the movies to be the same, he's comparing and contrasting the overall quality of the films. And what's wrong with that? People do it all the time.

Yeah, of course if you are just comparing your favorite movies that is perfectly fine. I just got the impression that it was something else, my bad. :)

Mars Attacks! > Alice in Wonderland > Planet of the Apes

In my opinion, of course.

I think Mars Attacks! is underrated....it was a decent parody imo.

Anyone plan on getting the DVD when it comes out? I think it will be a nice addition to my DVD collection...

I agree, Mars Attacks! was actually really good...and the last Burton film I actually REALLY enjoyed.

I saw it and it was exactly what I said it was going to be; weak. Burton has had to surrender to the Hollywood formulas and style.

Alice felt like a big-budget pilot movie for a series in the sense that it wasn't anything special but just a mere introduction for the characters but little development.

2.5/5

That KILLED a movie that was already weak.

Yeah, I enjoy Mars Attack a big deal. Much better than Independence Day.

i dont think it was disney's idea. this looks like best friends making fun on the set.

To me it looked like the average idiotic Disney joke to make children laugh.

But even if it's not Burton's idea, I completely blame him for having that aweful moment in the movie.

This film was terrible. I really thought Depp could have done a better job with the Mad Hatter, his costume was ridiculous. It looked nothing like the Mad Hatter that we all interpreted him to look like. I feel like I wasted time watching this. It was just so boring, I almost fell asleep. I am never watching a Tim Burton film again, as long as it has Johnny Depp in it!
