Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I'd like to see Burton do something smaller now. I still say this film has great atmosphere and such, but the real world time was rushed (both exposition and resolution take like 7 mins each tops...way too rushed), and Alice just wasn't an interesting character. She was really bland and boring, which is a shame that the main character in such an odd world is boring.

The film just never grabbed me into the story.

I'd rather see Burton tackle Maleficent than Wizard of Oz.

It would be very interesting to see him pull that off.

I saw it in '3D' this afternoon. I thought it was a really good movie. I do wish there had been a little more Anne Hathaway...but all of the characters were great. I LOVED the March Hare and Cheshire Cat!

I'm glad you liked the movie but suprised you hated that part . I thought it brought life into the movie and was funny but to each is own.

I liked it. I guess it's easy to hate this movie if you're looking for stuff to hate. Burton did attempt to go out of his comfort zone. There was no opening credit sequence. After 25 years he decides to pull that on us? Weird. The 19th century scenes were, well, 19th century. No trace of Burton anywhere except for the dude with the weird teeth, the weird old lady, and the circle on Alice's eyes. Watching those scenes it's obvious that if Burton wanted to he could do a normal movie. Then again, if you've seen Big Fish then you know that's true. Heck, even Pee-Wee's Big Adventure had scenes in the real world. As for Wonderland, it wasn't at goth/emo as people exaggerate. It was very colorful and pretty much what you expect Wonderland to look like

burtons worst movie (movie's' if you include planet of the crap) grosses the most money...

So, I just got back from this and, I didn't like it. Well, let's just say it was entertaining, but I didn't find it that good. I get what Tim Burton was trying to do, but it could have been so much better. I found myself confused in a lot of parts, basically "wait, what?.. huh?... um.... okay, cool... let's go with that."

Could have been better, that's all I say.

No thank you. at least, he needs make something else smaller (anything but an adaptation/remake) next.

If he does Oz, then it'll be so predictable and expected of him that he'll be on auto-pilot the entire time.

so the trailer only shows the only Burton scenes in the trailer?

because the trailer looks like a 100% Burton movie.

I'd actually say it's a very un-Burton like movie. With the exception of a few designs elements here and there it's definitely not his usual look, not only that the tone of the film is very unlike him, it's very much more Disney like. That's possibly where some of the problem comes from, it's a balancing act that never works.

His next projects are Dark Shadows and a full length animated Frankenweenie. Dark Shadows should be pretty great!

The 3-D was horrific. It gave me a super headache and sometimes the characters seemed to have been very blurry.

As for the movie itself. It was okay. Nothing I'd buy but I'm going to go see it again today in 2-d just to be sure.

In my opinion, it didn't fit in at all. Yeah, it was mentioned earlier in the movie that if the White Queen returned to power, he would do it...but the execution of it was horrible. I felt like I was at a rave somewhere.

Oh Noo I meant the Sleeping Beauty project. The Oz thing was just a joke , it would be kind of funny if that what he did next.

I know Dark Shadows wouldn't be the most original thing but my mother was such a fan of that show I kind of want to see it done.

When I watched Alice last night in 3D I didn’t realize it was converted into 3D during post production until I read about on the internet. It wasn’t a night and day different 3D experience when I watched Avatar in 3D, because the majority of moviegoers including myself aren’t used to watching 3D movies.

I definitely wasn’t nitpicking every scene if it didn’t have someone or some object leaping off the screen. So basically if it looks like chicken and tastes like chicken, therefore it must be chicken. IMO

Not all chicken tastes the same though. You might not be able to tell exactly what kind of grease I used or exactly what spices I used but it will still make a difference in how much you enjoy it and how it feels in your stomach.

The point is that it's not supposed to constantly have stuff jumping off of the screen like Alice did. Objects are supposed to have depth perception like they did in Avatar. Your supposed to be seeing the objects from a different angle in each eye, just like in the real world. Alice was constant gimmicks.

That's why I wish the theatre chains would boycott these 2d conversions to 3d. There are so many skeptical people out there when it comes to 3d and this crap is going to turn people off of it.

Alice in Wonderland and Clash of the Titans have the potential to kill 3d and turn it into another short lived trend like it was in the past.

Is it really fair to movie goers? Is it fair to Cameron? I don't doubt for a second that he sincerely wants to see the movie industry go 3d and he wants it done right.
