lol this beat avatars opening weekend.... james cameron must be furious since he openly dissed tim burtons 3d..

I somehow doubt that Johnny Depp can spin his head around a full 360 degrees in real life.
LOL I forgot he had done that with his head. I meant everything he did with his feet and his legs.

somehow I don't think so considering Avatar is the biggest movie of all time. Avatar's word of mouth made it that big. That isn't going to happen with Alice.

meh, this felt more like the chronicles of narnia with alice in wonderland characters. The great thng about the original alice was the randomness and sense that I had no idea what the **** was going on and forcing such a narratively centered story just didn't work, like at all. This was the last movie in the world that should have ended with a big cg battle sequence and alice slaying a dragon. Just ****ing weak, there was more C.S. Lewis than Lewis Carol in this flick, which is a shame. Great art direction though and the animals where almost all entertaining. The Cheshire Cat was fabulous! I want a whole film about that guy. Oh and wtf was with that stupid breakdancing, and well johnny in general, every time i looked at the guy i couldnt help but think "joker" and then he spoke....

Also i didnt have a tron trailer attached to my print which really ****ing pissed me off!

Alice won't come close to half of Avatar's domestic total and it'll probably struggle to get to a fourth of its ww total...so I doubt he's that furious. :cwink:

Anyway...to everyone who hates 3D say hello. Its going to be here for a while :o

Um i wasnt the biggest fan of this films 3d. it seemd so flat. like a pop out book instead of the deep engrossing framing that avatar used to create such a strong sense of visual window like depth. Very dissapointing indeed.

U can't hate 3d though, it really is the next step in visual entertainment and gives going to the cinema that special feeling that it has been lacking in recent years mainly due to my kickass high def t.v. and my bluray player which make viewing films in my basement much more entertaining then going to a movie theater with a weak projector.

what kind of drop off are you guy's expecting?

That is some opening there! It will be interesting to see how it holds up in the coming weeks.3D definetly looks like it's here to stay though whether we like it or not.:o

is anything coming out next weekend? I predict this movie will be pretty big because of the 3d prices but obviously not Avatar big. I think we'll get a pretty descent drop off during the next two weeks.

From the sense that duff 3D conversion is being rewarded big style then maybe yes. Although Alice would have done massive figures even without 3D.

Also even if he is annoyed by it, I doubt the annoyance will be linked with Avatar. Any well marketed big blockbuster is capable of beating Avatar's opening weekend of $77m, less than half the record at the time. Alice might even have done it if all screens were 2D.

I think the drop off won't be more than 60% for the 2nd weekend...idk. This movie has done huge, and now that a lot of people have heard of its numbers, they'll go see it next weekend. But some people won't see it because they may hear negative word of mouth (though many will hear positive wom. And this is primarily targeted at kids, so the kids will still be in force next weekend as well.

Green Zone which reteams Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass. I saw the trailer the trailer in front of Shutter Island and it really does looks like Bourne in Iraq lol.:o

Green Zone is more for the older set it looks like. Alice may hang onto first place, but if it gets second, it won't be a huge drop.

With 60% it would be down to $46m. Sounds about right.

I don't think it's so bad. I think it was descent.

Yes, I hate this movie because it sucked. I wasn't one before i saw it. i was excited to see it. In fact, it was one of my most anticipated films of 2010. I'm not happy that I watched a shallow kids' movie.
