He is ok but I was expecting someone that you could look at and go "BOOM! Pregnant"

And he looks kind of flat...

Lol, right. I also find him a bit bland in the acting department too but hollywoods been persistent in pushing him.

Also I have seen Greenleaf the show from where our Starfire comes from and I think she's a pretty good actress. In the show her character is soft spoken, nice, people pleaser, who's also a bit naive, but when she's angry you definitely feel it. I do hope that they paint her orange.

Dayum, that's the first actor I actually recognize.
They got the perfect guy to do Dick Grayson.

The guy has charm and an emotive acting style. He definitely wasn't the problem in Pirates 5. And I'm going to take a wild guess and say the girls (and guys) will probably like looking at him.

weren't Hawk and Dove part of the original TNT Titans lineup that was proposed. along with Batgirl, I think.

So wait, is that guy Dick as Robin, or as Nightwing? Or are we going to see that transition on the show?

as Nightwing.

from the sound of it, he's been Nightwing for some time already while working as a cop during the day.

There is a scene from the movie Son of a Gun where Brentan is showing his backside. Can't post it here. The conclusion we can draw from that gif is that WB did their homework. They know what they are doing. :sly: :sly:

Sweet. I've always liked the run where Dick was a cop during the day.

Has there been any mention of who exactly will be on the team?

Really curious to see where they go with the costumes.

This hasn't been confirmed.

I think it's entirely possible that he starts as Robin and slowly transitions into Nightwing.

that's why I said "from the sound of it."

and so far, the casting has been fairly close to that leaked/rumored casting call a few months back.

however, even if it's not confirmed, the fact they went with an "older" actor who's almost 30 and 6'2" suggests to me they are skipping the Robin phase.

there may still be flashbacks. and he may even start out as Robin, but I don't think they will do a slow transition into Nightwing.

If they had gone for a younger actor ( late teens, early 20s ) then we might have had more Robin.

but, given the casting, I think he's going to be more Nightwing than Robin.

based on the leaked/rumored casting call a few months back, it seems Dick/Robin/Nightwing will be the series lead, with Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy rounding out the rest of the core.

So, I'd assume those will probably be the 4 main characters, at least initially.

another article a few days ago suggested Hawk and Dove may be part of the show, but more as recurring guest characters.

Brenton Thwaites may be 29, but he can still easily play a version of Dick who is in his late teens/early 20s and has struck out on his own, retaining the Robin moniker before eventually shedding it in favor of the moniker of Nightwing.

Also, the fact that they cast a 13-year-old in the role of Raven when the casting call breakdowns mentioned "Sarah" being in her mind-teens (read: 15-17)) pretty much forced us to throw out said casting call breakdowns entirely.

well, midteens can include 15, and 13 is closer to 15 than a 29 year old playing an 18 or 19 year old.

at best, Brenton could pass for early 20s, but that's kind of pushing it, imo.

he could very well start as Robin, or we see him as Robin in flashbacks, but I just get the feeling he will be an already established Nightwing who's looking to recruit the others.

if he does start as Robin, I think he will shed that fairly quickly to become Nightwing.

Most of the articles I saw regarding Thwaites' casting had headlines that were a variation of "Titans casts ROBIN" (all-caps emphasis mine), which is, for me, a pretty strong indicator that Dick will have that moniker on the show, at least at the start.

As far as I'm aware, we've got four members (Nightwing, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy) with three confirmed castings (Nightwing, Starfire, and Raven).

As for costumes, I feel Nightwing will have a genuine costume complete with mask, insignia, and probably body armor or a design like the DCEU Batsuit. I feel like the others probably have more variation with what they'll have for a costume; I've got no idea exactly what they'd do with Starfire's costume beyond purple and flattering, and while I could see them going full civie spandex for Raven and a Beast Boy, costumes could still be very comic-booky.

This far, we have 3 of the four Series Regulars cast in Brenton Thwaites' Dick Grayson (who may be Robin), Anna Diop's Koriand'r/Starfire, and Regan Croft's Raven, so the only one we're still waiting on is Garfield Logan/Beast Boy.

well, I just reread that Hollywood Reporter article about the announcement.

and the execs say they cast him as Dick Grayson. They say he's perfect for Dick Grayson, yada, yada, yada.

it doesn't specifically say they cast him as Robin or Nightwing, though the article does mention Robin when detailing Dick's history.

it also says he will "emerge from the shadows" to become the leader of the Titans.

so, yeah, with that wording, it could also mean emerging from "Batman's shadow" figuratively, and not just from operating at night, in the shadows, like a vigilante as he was trained.

so, yeah, perhaps he does start as Robin initially and then becomes Nightwing.

but I still feel that will happen in the 1st few episodes and not wait until, say, the season finale to become Nightwing.

^ ScreenRant's article, which used THR as a source, ran their article with the headline of "Titans TV Show Casts Brenton Thwaites as Robin".

TVLine also identified Thwaites as playing Robin (even though their "parent site" Deadline ran a more general headline of "Titans: Brenton Thwaites to play Dick Grayson in live-action series").

IGN and SuperheroHype also ran articles with headlines specifically identifying Thwaites as playing Robin.

The announcement on DC's website used a picture of Dick as Robin, as opposed to Nightwing.

Could it be that he starts off the series as Robin, and we later see him switch to becoming Nightwing?

I think Robin is much more noticeable then Nightwing. Everyone knows who he is so its easier to use him for marketing.

Newsarama, in their article on Thwaites' casting, used the headline "Titans' Dick Grayson cast", but mentioned the following in said article:
Dick Grayson is said to be the series' central character, with the story focusing on his transition from being Robin to Nightwing. The rest of the cast will consist of classic Teen Titans characters, with Anna Diop already cast as Starfire, and Teagan Croft set to play Raven.

(bolded emphasis mine)

^ I didn't see that one.

so perhaps then we will see him start as Robin.

regardless, I'm just excited for this series and can't wait for it.

just hope there will be some "free tier" option to watch the episodes without having to subscribe to an entire service for one show.

I also wonder if we will actually see Bruce Wayne/Batman or if he will just be mentioned/alluded to.

Hoping they can use Deathstroke, too, since I always associate him with the Titans.

would love if they adapted the Judas Contract storyline for season 2 perhaps. With a live action series, they could push the boundaries a bit more compared to an animated film.

Thanks!
I'd love to see beast boy.
Wonder how they would do his powers.

Hopefully:woot:

Really hope they stay away from the leather look for the costumes in this show.
