Titans Titans General Discussion Thread

just read the new synopsis for the series.

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

surprised that Raven/Rachel gets 2nd billing to Robin. Makes it seem she and Robin are the 2 main leads.

and it looks like the Raven-Trigon storyline will be the focal point for Season 1.

I saw the word "gritty" used in the synopsis. I'm going to take points off for their total lack of originality and inability to do something that doesn't involve grit.

So...they are still doing that Raven/Robin series.

It's just refreshing to see a suit that isn't mostly made of leather.

Raven's constantly been just behind the scenes as a property that WB and DC want to push. She was considered for her own TV show, and was going to be Nightwing's supporting character and ally on a proposed Nightwing show by one of the guys who ran Avatar the Last Airbender.

I think they just feel like "daughter of a demon lord prophesied to unleash him upon the world" is a proven premise.

?
you can pretty much tell they tailored the heck out of a motorcycle/motorbike suit :hmr:

Anyone think they'd be brave enough to introduce Cyborg & Kid Flash later down the line?

"hot-headed Starfire"?

I'm no Teen Titans purist but....Yikes...:nuhu:

They keep showing Robin, I hope they are not hiding the rest of the gang. The lack of CW leather is very encouraging.

You have seen how well "grit" has done for DC so far, right? The grittier they get, the worse the outcome. Which is why it is a disappointment they keep failing to learn not everything has to be dark, depressing, super serious all the time end of the world eye rolling gritty.

Give the rights to Marvel...:o

After Teen Titans Go I think a Young Justice -esq tone will be good for this.

I don't think they need to go to Marvel's direction but they really need to pull back from the dark, gritty Nolan Batman and give something lighter (not necessarily light) a change. Wonder Woman did excellent and it was not a light, comedic movie that had much of anything in common with Marvel (besides big box office bucks).

Not in the way most of these DCTV superhero suits have been made since Arrow started.

Regarding the dark/gritty stuff, lets be fair guys, you guys are referencing the movies but this is a tv show which I think we should be comparing. If you look at their tv output its far from dark and gritty. The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow are all light, fun and comedic. Arrow maintains it darker tone but even then the shows not that dark, its no Daredevil. So with that said, I think a hard hitting Titans show could be a good change of pace.

I dont need Titans to be dark and gritty. At least without some humor, a show with everyone being angry at the world isn't that interesting. Not to say that will be what this show is in the long run.
