Titans Titans General Discussion Thread

if true, that pilot description has me hyped for the show.

we just need a trailer so we can get a taste of what this show looks like.

That pilot description sounds awesome.

You have seen how well "grit" has done for DC so far, right? The grittier they get, the worse the outcome. Which is why it is a disappointment they keep failing to learn not everything has to be dark, depressing, super serious all the time end of the world eye rolling gritty.
Okay

I see why you will like this: You too lack originality and repeat things over and over again even when they fail to work.

Robin looks ****ing amazing I’m surprised this sub forum isn’t more active. This show is going to be the bomb. Easily my most anticipated DC adaptation for the next couple years. Shazam, WW84, and Aquaman don’t even come close to how hyped I am for this one. It’s been so long but we’re finally getting a live action Robin again and I couldn’t be more hyped

I don't have a problem with gritty, but that description of the pilot, if true, reads to me like the wrong type of grim.

just read the new synopsis for the series.

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

surprised that Raven/Rachel gets 2nd billing to Robin. Makes it seem she and Robin are the 2 main leads.

and it looks like the Raven-Trigon storyline will be the focal point for Season 1.

After reading that synopsis and seeing these Robin pics I'm far more excited for this than I thought I ever would be! :yay:

Besides the point that Cyborg is around and isnt Ray Fisher.....

So a couple things...

Why are people assuming that because the clickbait headlines say it’ll be “darker and grittier” than BVS that

1. it’s true

2. Everyone’s hating the world around them.

There is nothing in that pilot description that says this will be the case.

Secondly when reading Wolfman and Perez’s New Teen Titans it was actually a pretty dark comics especially when you read the Trigon arc, Who is Donna Troy?, Judas Contract, The Brotherhood of Evil arc etc.

However it was offset with a fairly positive outlook despite the heavy themes like Soul-Searching.

As for Starfire though, when they say “hothead” I hope this is in reference to how Starfire was in the first arcs of NTT, where in combat, she was capable of getting bloodthirsty and at times Robin and co would have to calm her down.

Mostly a by product of the fact that Tamaraneans run on emotions so they fight with all their might and love with all their might. Though outside of that she was a outgoing, optimistic, and overall life loving figure.

I hope this is what that’s referring to.

What happened to the exotic warrior archetype? Comics were full of those.

My guess was that just as is the case with Robin, she's once again a veteran.
She's grown beyond the "fresh off the boat" phase in her life popularized by the cartoons.

She's grown beyond the "fresh off the boat" phase in her life popularized by the cartoons.

Amusingly enough though, even that phase wasn’t quite what it is in the cartoons, considering she was said to be well studied on everything save for their cultural norms.

She wasn’t this super goofy yet somewhat childish airhead that the cartoons characterized her as. I’m not saying that to knock the cartoons because the 2003 cartoon is something I greatly enjoy but just to illustrate that the cartoon’s Starfire isn’t Starfire imo.

The synopsis describes Beast Boy as “lovable”, so he’ll provide levity to the show.

I never read a great deal of Teen Titans but Who is Donna Troy? is a story that I liked a lot.

Hm. Not sure who I would have picked for Trigon but I don't think it would have been him. Having said that, I like him as an actor so I'm interested.

The best versions of the Trigon storyline (IMO) are NTT’s original storyline by Wolfman and Perez that was slowburned from issue 1 of that run and The Trigon arc of The 2003 Teen Titans cartoon because to me those were done equally well, where as the version in Justice League vs Teen Titans and the new 52 versions are enjoyable but not as good as the former examples.

The supposed plot of the first episode sounds ok. But I’m not much of a fan of Dick/Bruce animosity.

interesting choice. guess they are going for a more "devilish charming/suave" look for Trigon's human form. I can see how Raven's mom would be charmed/seduced.

I expected Trigon to be in human form for most of the show for budget purposes. but I hope we will at least get a glimpse of his true demonic form via CGI at some point.

man, it's really time for a trailer so we can see the rest of the characters ( other than Robin ) and see how this is going to look in live action.

You can pretty much predict how the show's gonna go based on this:

#1.3 “Starfire”
#1.4 “Rachel”
#1.5 “The Doom Patrol”
#1.6 “The Messenger”
#1.7 “Jason Todd”
#1.8 “Angela”
#1.9 “Donna Troy”
#1.10 “Hank and Dawn”
#1.11 “Koriand’r”

Well the titles sound good. Hope the show lives up to them.

When is Titans due to air?

I know is it going to be a part of the DC streaming service in the US but is there any chance it will also be made available for sale on iTunes at the same time (or after a few months) ?

And is there any word yet on the international release?

I'm more hyped for this than any upcoming comic book movie. It's crazy that this is only a few months away.
