I'm pretty sure the girl that played Salome was the same girl that played Rahab in "The Bible." Girl's getting typecast.:woot:

Yes Stephanie Leonidas played Rahab in the Bible mini-series but for some odd reason she is not credited on IMDB as being in Killing Jesus.. I wonder why.. I mean she was in all the red carpet photoshoots.. Salome isn't even mentioned as one of the characters even though the person is definitely being portrayed in Killing Jesus.

Bill O'Reilly is now taking about how great the tv special is. But I still yet to see it so I should save my judgments.

He blames the far left for the phony criticisms.. He's talking about you Human Torch! :hehe:
bill o'reilly pisses me off so much.

I used to hate him, since I used to watch the daily show all the time.
But now I'm starting to warm up to him. Some of the things he says are silly but he's not all that bad. He just offers that different point of view that a lot of young people don't like. He reminds me of my uncle.

What I don't like about him is he is fake as f***. He doesn't even believe the crap he says, he just takes a dissenting view just to stir up crap and ratings. It's despicable

everybody has good and bad in them, but I don't like a lot of the stuff he has to say about 2 things in my life.

islam & marijuana. the latter of which is on the way out of my life although i still support its societal acceptance 100%, but he's very intolerant of anything islam.

Palm Sunday? How do religious people keep track of all these special days.

Astronomy. You have the Spring Equinox occurring each years and a tradition of starting Passover by a set number.

When it comes to the Islamic religion or any other type of religion like Hindism and Buddhism he isn't the best person to get information from since I would say that is outside of his expertise. Like my uncle doesn't know anything about those religions but he loves to give his "opinions" about them nevertheless...

then he shouldn't act like he's right and knows what he's talking about. which is what he does.

Bill O'reilly certainly reminds a lot of people of their uncles... If their uncles are world class asshats. It's like, nobody even remembers NETWORK or why the quote "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore" isn't a rallying cry... It's a warning.

I don't like it when he talks about other religions he isn't familiar with. I remember that interview he had with Deepak Chopra about his book Jesus: A story of Enlightenment, and since he is a Hindu he wrote it from a Hindu perspective. But it seemed O'reilly didn't care for the book and seemed snobbish about it. He also debated him about that Mosque being built in NYC and went overboard.

Bill O'Reilly needs to be ostracized and banished to some small isolated part of Alaska. Im thinking Nome, Alaska. Or Guam if he prefers warm weather.

How about we give him his personal iceberg in the middle of the ocean? :o

I like my uncle. He is a good person. I find it funny that he reminds me of Bill O'reilly. Not sure if my gradual acceptance of my uncle had anything to do with my changing views towards O'reilly.. Like I said before, I used to hate him.
I mean they are intelligent, they just have different opinions some people don't like. I say give him a second chance. He means well.

Intelligent is not a word I would use to describe Bill in the least. Crafty, cunning... Maybe. But no... He's not too bright, and he is a corrosive influence on American culture and politics. Again... Watch NETWORK.

:funny:

I only thumbed through the book in Target one day. It seemed fairly inoffensive. Though, I did read somewhere he wasn't writing it from a "religious perspective". (and that seemed to show in the movie)

LOL at everyone jumping on the hate wagon to bash O'Reilly, like I knew would happen if I brought him up.:lmao:

Just out of curiosity what was Killing Jesus about? (besides the obvious Jesus getting killed)

(looking at the ratings, it seemed to do pretty good with 3.7M viewers)

OR... Or we dislike the dude cause he's an obnoxious A-hole that has done a bang up job of misinforming the public for close to 20 years now? And not because there's a bandwagon to jump on? Nah... it couldn't be that.

Upon doing some research,I see one Ridley Scott was executive producer on this film

Mother Machree, does that explain a lot.......

Just mentioning anyone from the dreaded "Fox News" is like blood in the water around here.:woot:

We shouldn't. Which is why businesses turning away gays irritates me. It gives the impression that Christianity as a whole is intolerant, when stuff like that is the exact opposite of what Jesus would have wanted.

Yep. If you trace the etymology of the word 'sodomy' in the bible, it doesn't equate iniquity with homosexuality. 'Homosexuality is a sin' is a culturally shifted term and a decree of latter church teachings than scriptural truth.

Perhaps it says more about said poster that feels the need to put that drop of blood out there? Like, say, they like to stir excrement up? :sly:

I despise Bill O'Reilly and what he stands for whether I'm here or anywhere else. Whether there is a bandwagon or not. He is a blowhard who spreads misinformation and inflames any situation for a ratings boost. He's everything that's wrong with today's news rolled into one obnoxious package. The day he retires or can no longer present his propaganda will be a great day as far as I'm concerned.

But that's all I'm going to say about the man. This thread has more important topics to discuss, and I'd rather this thread not get closed because of arguments about Bill O'Reilly.

That's kinda what I imagine they're trying to appeal to. Certainly a more secular version of the story, than biblical. Given it was based on a book by O'Rielly,I expected something more "conservative."

I'm pretty sure the girl that played Salome was the same girl that played Rahab in "The Bible." Girl's getting typecast.:woot:

Violence equals secular? I mean, plenty of means violence took place back then. You want them to whitewash history?

I get what Human Torch is saying. Stuff like Game Of Thrones and Walking Dead are popular shows ( and honestly I watch them as well) and people like to watch over the top violence and gore. So they amp up the violence in the killing jesus documentary to sorta cater to that audience. It's much like how hollywood has been handling biblical stories. Like I mentioned before about the recent Noah and Exodus movies that both added these extra elements to cater to non religious folks, so they wouldn't get offend or feel as though the movie was trying to push religion on them.
