Sure - they do that all the time - its called a muscle suit - CGI is the simplest choice for dealing with it later and from what I've been reading that seems to be the way they have gone - just don't understand why they chose the much more expensive digital route when they already had an excellent Thanos in the Avengers. I am sure it will look fine, just curious choice...

You realize Thanos was CGI in Avengers, right?

No Thanos was an actual actor. He may have been enhanced with CGI, but he was very much an actor in makeup.

This isn't a mask, chief.

After seeing Neighbors i'm totally open to the idea of Zac Efron being in the MCU. Obviously not as Thanos.

Be interesting to imagine who he would play though. He could actually be a villain. Definitely has a darker side in Neighbors.

Why not? It would be a very unique casting choice. :woot:

I guess it has pretty much been confirmed that Thanos will be digital this time around - again just wondering why as I honestly can not see a digital character being an improvement over this...

...That seriously just blew my mind..I've thought he was a big purple CGI goblin, a'la the Hulk for 2 years.

Don't know how I feel about that going forward. Thanos to me, has always split the difference between Captain America and Hulk in height. The problem with that is, Hulk is only 7' in the comics, but stands 9' in the movies.

Thanos is stronger than the Hulk in the comics. Not just more powerful, but literally, can beat Hulk in an arm wrestling match. Unless they're depowering him, that's going to be kind of hard to sell using an actor in prosthetics.

I'm not so sure. I think they'll understand that their strength doesn't come from their muscles.

But i was thinking about how the Frost Giants in Thor were done. Real actors in make-up but enhanced in size and stature with CGI and camera tricks.

I don't think it's been confirmed that it'll be an actor in prosthetics, has it? In any event, I agree with you that they should mo-cap it & have Thanos be CGI. He obviously doesn't have to be bigger than the Hulk, but for him to convey the presence he should have (imo), I think he should be a CGI creation.

Hasn't it already been confirmed quite sometime back that Thanos would be CGI/mo-cap? Or were those reports merely rumors?

Gunn said CGI.

2) Thanos is still confirmed to show up in the movie after his recent first appearance at the end of “The Avengers”, and it is revealed that he will be a CGI-motion capture character like Rocket and Groot. However, his voice actor is still not revealed/found yet, but hopefully will get the announcement of who soon in the remaining 16 weeks leading up to the film’s release. Also, James Gunn describes Thanos as “the head of the snake” of villains in the movie.

haha Ahnuld as Thanos! Oh my dayssss!

How about Clancy Brown? He certainly has the facial features for it. Dat chin! And he's actually a really good character actor with a great voice.

Did anybody pick up the Thanos Annual comic that was released this week? It was done by Jim Starlin and Ron Lim, the writer and artist of Infinity Gauntlet, and it was a treat. It serves as a whirlwind tour through Starlin's lengthy history of Marvel Cosmic, while setting the stage for some stuff that's coming up in the future. Even after all this time, I'd argue that Lim draws Thanos better than anyone, and Starlin writes him better than anyone. Great, fun book.

Lim is an amazing artist wish he did more work for Marvel these days he needs to draw Silver Surfer again though I am liking Allred. Of course Starlin is great with Thanos as always. I'm beyond excited for the Infinity Revelation!
