to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

that is a horrible excuse. why did it need wider appeal then? why not make a property that has wider appeal already built into it?

To make money. That's the real reason studios make movies.

Well I've been waiting 30 years for this movie and I'm not the least bit disapointed, GR looked awesome, the movie could have been better but every movie could use improvement, after reading some of the comments in this forum I was expecting the worst. If I could change anything in the movie it would be that Ghost Rider is Ghost Rider, not Blaze, I don't like it in the new comic and I think the movie would have been better if GR was a seperate identity, I give it 8/10.

I can't disagree with a lot of the comments people have said here. However, I did enjoy watching it at least once. In my opinion it certainly isn't the worst comic film I have seen. For instance I despise Hulk and Fantastic Four. I kind of judge movies on whether I buy them or not when they hit DVD. I will be buying Ghost Rider.

Yes the story really needed work and there were some really cheesy parts/lines. However, I think Ghost Rider (actual character) looks the best on screen out of any film adapation. The special effects are THAT good (again . . . in my opinion). He looks awesome and I am seriously thinking about seeing the movie again just so I can see Ghosty up there.

Glad you have an opinion mind! And I agree wholeheartdly the movie could have had some improvements but it's not as bad as the posters are saying it is. While it isn't Batman Begins or Spidey, it is what it is......an ok movie.

WHAT? GR not Blaze? Please explain.

I think he means that Ghost Rider is Ghost Rider all the time and he doesn't need a human host. After a hard days work of battling evil he just throws his coat on the couch, makes a can of soup, and watches heroes on NBC. All the while sitting on a flame ******ant fabric. As far as I know this is always the way it has been in the comics so I don't know why anyone would have a problem with the way it is.

In the original GR comic with Blaze, eventually when he transformed he became Zarathos a true demon with his own will, not like the new comic where Blaze is in control of the GR "body".

I have been waiting for this movie, like you wouldn't believe. I just don't wanna believe the comments here that it sucks. I'm going tomorrow to see it. Please don't let it be true that it sucks.

I think my biggest gripe is that everyone knows who he is now. I mean he busts out of jail as GR, his best friend's corpse is in his apartment even though he didn't do it, etc. Is he just going to travel the roads living as a nomad earning money wherever he can? Although I don't think we'll have to worry about a sequel. Too bad since with a better story this would've been one of my favorite movies 'cause the effects were AWESOME!!

/\ I was also scared after coming in here, but found myself pleasently surprised.

I never got the feeling that Blaze was in complete control. He mentioned he was learning to control the power. He even had vague recollections of the mugger. Oh well, I'd be fine with it either way. It's the clothes that make the man and his clothes were kick butt in this movie.

Wow, I didn't know all that. But I think he needs another identity. It wouldn't be as fun with just Ghost Rider. Even Superman becomes Clark Kent.

And what happens to Ghost Rider in the day in the comics if he's a form of his own? He can live in the day too?

Geez. Sometimes I just don't know why I read these boards.
Are the people adding their two cents new posters? Or are they SHH MB regulars?
Either way, I found the movie to be a LOT of fun. It was just what I wanted, and I will see it again.
And buy the DVD.
And the novelisation.
And the comics.
And the cd score.
Because, ultimately, it's a fun film.
(a lot more fun that POTC: Dead Men's Chest, easily).

Hmmm . . . I didn't mean he's always been his own person in the comics. I meant the way it is in the movie has always been the way it is in the comics. Although I misunderstood the original poster as well (there's a whole bunch of it here). Anyway, I think he wanted Ghost Rider to have his own personality when he thought he had Blaze's personality after the transformation. I did not get this sense when I watched the movie. While I thought Blaze was gaining a certain amount of control over Ghost Rider, when I watched the movie I felt like Ghost Rider was always the predominant personality. While Blaze could transform into him at the end, I felt like he had little control after that. Guess it depends on how you interpret what you're watching on screen.

To anyone who's seen the movie: Does Ghost Rider's voice shake the theatre as promised?

I guess that question is just personal opinion. But I didn't like it that much. It was ok, but could have been better.

I saw it here at the Arclight in Los Angeles and it did nothing of the sort here. It was loud of course but nothing earth shattering. There was bigger rumbling in Spiderman's fight with Ock and in Reveng of the Sith.

That's EXACTLY what pis$es me off! Becuase they don't like the movie, they repost like 20 times stating how horrible it is so before anyone goes to see the movies they already have in mind it's not that good. Thing is, comic fans are NEVER happy! Comic fans complained about Spidey and look how much money it made! They even complained about a freaking Visa commercial with marvel characters! That's what grinds my gears! :cmad:

Just got back from the theater. I don't see why everyone hates it. Yeah...the villains were kinda weak. And, it didn't have the best plot. Yet, I thought it was fun. I enjoyed it. I thought the visuals were great. There was many scenes I enjoyed like Johnny chasing Roxy on the highway. I also enjoyed Johnny locked in prison, turning into Ghost Rider and busting out of there. Then, having the police chase him. And, he grabs that helipcoter with his chain and scares the pilot. lol.

The movie was fun. :) Then again...I also liked Fantastic Four and Superman Returns. So, what do I know?

Ya I'd forgotten about the penance stare scene, I was thinking about the "Your pissing me off" and the time he pointed and said "UH UH UH" I seemed more Blaze than GR.

Hardly. There's a reason as to why the general consensus for this movie is bad. And sometimes it has nothing to do with fans (both comics and the general audience) not being HAPPY about anything or as what you said, poisoining the minds of the people who want to see it this weekend (jeez). Go figure. Stop clouding your judgement with such utter fanboism. Speaks volume about you. Funny because I now seem to get the impression from you that those who view this movie as a big disappointment never had an opinionated mind..:woot: and for the record, this is a forum right, and its not like anyone started to get off the topic discussion, so I dont think there's anything wrong disagreeing with you. Well, if your idea of a fun and good ghost rider movie is a character with a flaming skull who whistles all of a sudden calling out to his faithful bad ass chopper to his side, then so be it. Just dont blame some of us for seeing all of this as utter ridiculous.:woot:

Lol. General consensus? Now who's trying to fool who? Lol. :whatever:

Look in the review board- so far- 54. 28% have given it a 7 and above. With 7 & 8 being the strongest votes. I personally gave it an 8.

But, the general consensus of the film being "bad." Lol... the majority of the voters, at this point on here, have given it a 7 and above. So the "general" consensus, as of now is that the movie is good.

Hey, man you have your own opinion. Power to you. But, statistically on here, so far you have nothing to back up general consensus for the movie being bad- when the votes show the exact opposite. "Good, not great."

im surprised at the way people feel about this movie especially the big gr fans...i thought it was great...my only issue was the fact they made the suave johnny blaze i remember into some what of a ******...but overall i was very pleased and will buy the dvd on day 1

One has to take what they read on these boards with a grain of salt. The consensus about a super-hero film on a site called "superherohype.com" is bound to be skewed more towards the positive. On rottentomatoes.com the movie has a score of 27%. It's actually gone down since I looked at it earlier (it was 30%). You can't use one source as your argument. If you had to write a paper in school and sited only one source you'd flunk the paper. Bottom line is make up your own mind. My two local papers had reviews. One said " "Ghost Rider" isn't good. But if you catch the spirit of it, it's not terrible." The other ripped it to shreds. I personally was glad I saw it and I will buy the DVD. However, a lot of people who didn't like the movie have valid points in my opinion. So, see it for yourself. Just don't form preconceived notions from one source. That's not to evaluate something.

As a person who knows faint history of Ghost Rider and his comic past, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was great graphics and an ok story. The demons were scary as hell and GR looked great. The only thing I nitpicked about was the Elektra treatment of the villians. They were killed off really quickly one by one.
