Tom Hiddleston is Loki

I can barely regain my composure to give coherent thoughts about Tom Hiddleston as Loki, but I can pretty much agree with everyone on here who said Hiddleston stole the movie. He did, but not for lack of trying from Hemsworth or Hopkins. TH was simply amazing to watch. He was already pretty bad in the beginning but the movie rightly focused on the brother's relationship with each other, and with Odin, and the character arc of Loki in the films makes Thor stand out from other comic book movies.

I loved him. And more than anything, TH helped me "get" Loki's character.

I know it's been said already, but his performance was amazing.

He's a brilliant actor, and he brought such humanity and depth to the character. IMO it was an oscar worthy performance, but I'm not holding my breath he'll get a nomination. I don't even think Heath would have been nominated had it not been for the tragic circumstances around his death. Not that he didn't deserve it, but the Oscar voters have a total disdain for these type of movies.

I can't wait to see him interact with the rest of the Marvel Universe in Avengers. I hope there'll be a point where he man-handels some of the Avengers with his Magic, until Thor steps in.

Loki is now my favorite comic book movie villain. As much as I like the Joker, I can't help but think he gets away with most of his shenanigans because he does them in a **** city with a **** police force. Loki is one of the few movie villains who seems capable screwing over a team of superheroes without getting killed or captured by the end of the flick. Can't wait to see him in The Avengers.

Darkness Falls I love your avatar .... I going to see this movie again this weekend , I am more excited to see it than I was the first time . I cant wait to see tom's superb acting again .

I would also like to see him kick the crap out of the avengers , especially with magic and maybe some hand to hand combat as well . He is going to go ape **** in the avengers I just know it , cant wait .

Loki's performance was so good it made me want to look up other stuff Hiddleston has done to see him in it. And i'd never heard of the guy before this movie.

This was his first movie I think. He's been on a couple of TV shows in Britain and acted on the West End stage. But yea, I think Thor is his first proper movie.

Hats off to Branaugh for the fine casting eye and of course Hiddleston for the depth he brought to the character. Fine example of an almost complete unknown shining with shear talent and not recognition outside of the screen. He was my favorite character in the film.

Definite props to Branaugh. Not every superhero film has the hero and villain perfectly cast. Loki and Thor were perfect.

I thought he was great in the movie. He stole the show from ultra-charismatic Hemsworth, imo, which is really impressive. I love his look when Odin tell him he could never be king and lets go. My 2nd favorite CBM villain now, behind Heath's Joker.

On that note props to Marvel for hiring Branaugh in the first place, connecting the dots with his Shakespearean-like background and Thor/Loki/Odin's story. Fox would have hired Michael Bay.

I don't think he was saying "no" you can't be king. He was telling him "no" thats not the right way to do things. That it was wrong regardless of the outcome.

Perhaps. I took it more as his actions proved that he was unworthy of being king and that's the way it will always be.

I figured he was saying Loki's intentions weren't pure. Loki says, "I could've done it, father. For you!" Odin's "No" seemed to be meant for the "for you" part more than anything else, since it's pretty clear from Loki's actions that he was only ever really concerned with gaining power for himself.

I agree with you TheCorpulent1 in regards to the for you line and odin says no . He did seek power for himself especially after he found out his true orgin , however he did it in a way that was out for himself and at the same time to prove odin wrong . I think most of all though was that he wanted to prove that he was
a son of odin and not laufey's son , even though he very much is laufey son . One thing thats on my mind though , I understand odin kills laufey in the comics however in the movie loki does which was great . Do you think its marvels way of setting up loki to be ruler of the frost giants , prephaps in a sequel it would make sense . I know he controls them in the comics so I am told and its in the cartoons that I saw in paticular the avengers cartoon .

I can't imagine why the [BLACKOUT]Frost Giants would allow him to take over Jotunheim seeing as how he tried to destroy their world.[/BLACKOUT]

That was how I took it. Again Loki wasn't looking for the throne, he was looking for Odin's approval.

But they don't know it was him.

thats true
he also might reveal who he is to them , in which makes him the rightful sucessor to the throne being laufey's son . I mean as soon as he touched the casket he changed into his true form .. he aslo defeted laufey for that reason alone they may have to accept it . I can see thor trying to challange it as well and odin response would be he is the prince and rightful ruler and can't interfear
thats my opinion.

Hiddleston was so friggin' brilliant in this role... it's a testament to his talent because no one had even heard of this guy before. And while that might be standard for a hero character in these films (like Hemsworth here, and Cavill in the new Superman) they usually go after someone well-known or at least regognizable for the main villain. But Hiddleston was probably less known than Hemsworth overall. And he totally nailed it. I can't wait to see more of the guy.

More proof that you don't always need big names for these movies. You just need great actors.
