Hate to say it, but I feel the same way. That's not to say I'm not looking forward to it, but I haven't been genuinely excited since the first announcement. Not sure why, but I suspect it's either due to getting yet another reboot so soon (I still remember how the internet exploded over the one from 5 years ago like it was yesterday) or due to it feeling it like too much of a last minute decision as opposed to Marvel's usual approach of gradual building and teasing along the way. Either way, I'm optimistic and hope they win me over.
I feel the same way too.
Sudden scrapping of previously planned projects I was hoping to see more of and a second reboot in less than 10 years.

This sums up my feelings as well.

Usually, anything Spidey related has my adrenaline pumping. This is the first time in my life where I haven't felt that excitement, and this is a major announcement. The last time I felt a rush was when the deal was made.

I believe it would have been colossal if we didn't have TASM in between, but it just feels odd since we did. It might sound crazy, but I almost feel bad for feeling this way, given how much I love the character.

I'm hoping I'll be feeling the exact opposite next May.

I feel no enthusiasm for this movie whatsoever. First they get rid of Garfield who I really liked and then they hire an actor who wasn't my first or even my second choice and finally they hire a director I have never even heard of. The trailer will have to bring me round because as of now for the first time in my life I am 'meh' about Spider-Man on the big screen.

exactly like I feel.

Drew was 27. Not 19.

Bull crap. He looked like a grown man playing a high schooler.

Tom is the one who actually looks like a high schooler. Your perspective is all whacked. I suggest you re-calibrate it to realistic standards.

Cause it's a reboot.

who cares about age, you can be old but look young, many adults played teenagers in movies cuz they look young.

how many times is marvel going to reboot spiderman it is becoming boring, its the truth everything gets boring with time, and realistically tom looks like he still didnt hit puberty.
In the end everyone has his own opinion and perspective.

I can perfectly understand how some are feeling, im excited to have Tom Holland as Spider-man, but mostly because I cannot wait to see spidey interact with the rest of the Marvel cast, so im looking forward to Civil War extremely! The 2017 Spider-Man film however... Not as much, they will have to do great things with this movie imo.

Loosing Garfield is probably the biggest "upset," but as for abandoned plans, it sounds like they will very much be incorporating them into the new solo films.
The first one sounds like it will still be Sinister Six oriented.

At the end of the day, this is happening

As a fan, I wanna be optimistic, but I'm also not gonna blindly accept everything. I'll keep my expectations fairly low for now.

And I mean, it's just a movie. It may not be what our ideal pipedream scenarios were, but thats just how the world works. Gotta roll with the punches and either accept it and move on or just abandon the reboot entirely. Nothing wrong with that imo

I'm gonna be honest, I bet Marvel is going to bag a huge actor for a major role(maybe Harry, Norman, or the main villain) and use them to make people excited for the film. Because lets be honest. Tom isn't doing it. Barely anyone is excited for this.

I see more peopleangry about another reboot and the fact that he's a kid.

People just got tired of so many rumors, the anticipation for the announcement wore off

That's it, really. Marvel and Sony really took their time announcing the actor, which resulted in a fair amount of hype being lost. Just look at how slow the reaction to the announcement was over here, for example.

Just because mostly of them ( not in this forum) don't like this choice...

So has Tom Holland been spotted at Atlanta filming Civil War already?

When is he due to be on set?

It would have been the same reaction from any of the actors, especially because the only real complaint so far is "why is he so young?"

give it few more years. Tom will soon joining that "non canon"

Negative.

I'll put money on it. Tom goes down as THE definitive SM, Same way people think of RDJ, Hugh Jackman, Chris Evans with their respective characters.

BOOK IT SON.

Not yet, but I talked with @Atlantafilming and he said Tom won't be out in the open area, he's only set to be on sound stage. However Toms stuntman will be so that's how we will see the costume.

If it leaks.

If he's gonna be out in the open, you can bet on it. Hopefully we get something official before that happens. Fingers crossed

I'd much rather get an official image of the suit opposed to a leaked set picture... Remember the TASM fiasco when the first image of Spidey running in the streets leaked?

Especially since it's gonna be "Homemade"

People are gonna freak. Lol

I don't recall that. First image I remember seeing was the official image, maskless, dark, head down, battle damaged.

What were the leaked shots?

Definitely a concern of mine. The GA is used to million dollar Spider-Man suits. Damn you Sony! :cmad:

Running away from the haters...

If we get a home made suit, at least it should be as good as any cosplay Spider-Man costume or to the standard of the Nicholas Hammond suit. It should be recognisably Spider-Man. I don't really want to see a completely makeshift version like Maguire used at the beginning of the first Raimi film with the ski mask etc. I want it to be a proper Spidey costume, just that the materials and styling isn't as professional as the later Raimi suit.

I'm sure people could still make a relatively decent Spidey costume from existing sports clothing out there instead of it looking like this:
