Finally the role has been cast, now I need to see a movie with Tom Holland. I hear he has incredible talent.

Congratulations to Tom Holland! Welome to the MCU, Spidey! :)

I know next to nothing about this kid, so all I can say right now is that I hope that everyone involved in this movie does a good job.

Now give me Tom Holland vs. Vincent D'Onofrio.

Can't wait to see Tom Holland interact with Jon Bernthal again. :)

Tom Holland's worked with The Punisher and Thor, now it's time for him to work with Cap and Iron Man :)

Finally a Peter Parker that actual looks like a teenager.

I don't follow you.

He doesn't look like Peter Parker. Pick up the Ditko run, the Romita Snr run, the Romita Jnr run. He doesn't look like any of them. I was majorly pissed when they got rid of Garfield and this just compounds it. Whatever. I'm still going to see the movie but I have zero enthusiasm.

But who looks nothing like Peter Parker.

If you can't see it, I don't know what to tell you.

Holland doesn't look as young as i think he needs to given the logistics of the situation, but Asa really didn't either, so it is what it is.

It will be interesting to see what, if any, role he does end up having in Civil War and who Feige, Pascal, and Watts choose to surround him with for his solo movie.

Of course he's cast on the busiest Tuesday I've had in months.

A lot of negative reception on twitter and other social networking, although that is to be expected.

Many want Miles but you can tell than none of them have ever picked up a Miles comic in their life and are just jumping onto the diversity bandwagon.

I'm all for diversity but it is unnecessary at this junction for two reasons:
1. Miles' origin is dependent on Peter Parker being established already.
2. Miles has only been written for 5 years, there simply isn't enough content that can be adapted cinematically. Maybe in 20, 30 years, but definitely not now.
-> same applies to Spider-Gwen, even more so really.

Don't know what makes me happier: Holland getting cast (officially) or the Dylan O'Brien obsession ends.

HAPPY DAY! :woot: :spidey:

I'm incredibly happy right now. I was all for Asa at the time because the guy has impressed me for years, but the more I found out about Tom the more I liked him. Since I've started watching Tom's previous work/youtube videos and his instagram I have been 100% for him and actually prefer him to Asa. (Who I still think is great and will do very well for himself in the future!)

Last week I stopped being able to justify to myself he might not be cast and was convinced he was going to be, so glad I was right!

Tom Holland is going to be a fantastic Peter Parker and Spider-Man I know it! :mnm: :woot:

The Kid looks like Peter to me. Tom's a good pick . The casting of the role, while I didn't know who would get it , pretty much played out as I thought it would.

It wasn't gonna be the first two rumored names thrown out by Variety, it was likely gonna be someone fanboys weren't looking at for the part initially, that it was gonna be someone off the shortlist, that they were indeed looking at teen actors, and that they would cast a teen actor.

He's a Caucasian teen with brown hair, a slight frame, and unconventional good looks.

He does not need to look like a cartoon brought to life in order to pass the basic physical requirements for Peter Parker - which are pretty basic in of themselves.
