I don't know about "redefining" but Anne's version certainly sounds emotional.
I didn't lie..
I didn't lie..
Her I Dreamed A Dream is absolutely dreadful, like everything else she croaks out.
Anne will be fabulous.![]()
I'm okay with Susan Boyle, but I will lose my **** when people ask why "Susan Boyle's song" is in the Les Miz movie.
Who Is Making Money Off Of Susan Boyle? Les Miserables
We already know that neither YouTube nor Fremantle Media is cashing in on Susan Boyle's YouTube success, but the singing sensation is helping boost revenues for Les Miserables.
The original London cast recording of "I Dreamed A Dream" is generating some significant sales on iTunes, finally cracking the top 100 this week. The song's currently at No. 93. It's doing even better in Canada, where the song's the 79th best-seller on that country's iTunes store.
And the full soundtrack to the London performance of the musical is doing even better: It's the 45th most downloaded album on iTunes and it's flying off the shelves at Canadian HMV stores
Plus ticket sales for an upcoming production of Les Miz in Vancouver have tripled over the past few days.
We're glad Les Miserables is making money off of Susan Boyle's performance. Those street urchins could use the cash.
Singing sensation Susan Boyle's performance brings new life to "Les Mis"
World Wide Web sensation Susan Boyle is making a name for herself and a lot of cash for Apple's iTunes and record labels holding the rights to any recording of the musical "Les Miserables."
Boyle wowed the world even "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell (aka Simon Scowl) with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream." A video of Boyle's April 11 performance on "Britain's Got Talent" in which Cowell is also a judge has become a virtual overnight sensation as the video has been shared via Facebook, Twitter and TV news shows, including NBC's "Today" show and "Nightly News."
And the world has fallen in love with the 47-year-old Boyle, an unemployed, unmarried woman from a village in Scotland. The world has also discovered "I Dreamed a Dream" from the 24-year-old original London cast recording of "Les Mis."
In less than 24 hours, the song appeared at No. 48 on Apple's iTunes Top 100 downloaded songs. And five "Les Mis" albums are now in the Top 25 Soundtracks, including Nos. 3, 9, 15, 22 and 23. Only "Hannah Montana: The Movie" and "Twilight" are more popular.
It even beats out No. 4 "Slumdog Millionaire" and No. 8 "Wicked."
As a side note, "American Idol" contestant Kris Allen performed the song "Falling Slowly" from the 2007 movie "Once." The Academy Award-winning song by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova is No. 18 on iTunes' Top 100 songs; the soundtrack is No. 4 on the Top 25 Soundtracks chart.
Susan Boyle causes Les Miserables in London to sell out
Susan Boyle is causing sell out performances of Les Miserables in London's West End after her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream for Britain's Got Talent.
Sales of tickets for the long-running musical have increased by 46 per cent since Boyle performed the song in the first round of the talent show.
I Dreamed a Dream is a solo sung by character Fantine in Act 1 in the stage production of the Victor Hugo novel. Boyle's version attracted more hits than any other You Tube clip.
Mark Bower, head of lifestyle products for lastminute.com who discovered the rise said: " There has been a clear knock-on effect from Susan Boyle singing 'I dreamed a dream'.
"After her performance ticket sales shot up almost overnight and have maintained a consistent level of popularity."
One of my friends saw A Little Night Music the last time it was on Broadway and when "Send in the Clowns" started, a woman sitting next to her asked "Oh, is that from this?"![]()
Nice to see it again, but I posted it this morning.Colm just posted a video of him on the set in costume. He seems really happy to be a part of the movie

Damn...some people have really cruel things to say about the leaked trailer. "Where's Marni Nixon when you need her?", etc. Do they not understand that the trailer isn't the finished product? That it's a work-in-progress? As for me, the leaked trailer blew me away. It was raw and it felt so real, like Les Mis should feel. And yet all people can do is ***** that Anne doesn't sound perfect. That she sounds...*gasp*...like what an actual distraught and broken human being would sound like rather than autotuned crap.

Agreed. If the critics are so high and mighty they should try themselves. And Anne is a great singer. I don't know why people like to bag on her, but she and Emmy Rossum are amazing.
I remember when Russell Crowe was tweeting about the horse he would be riding in the movie, people responded with "Javert shouldn't be riding a horse!!!"
I don't think they realize that the characters get to go outside now that they're not confined to the stage.
