Tony planned to murder Hulk

Agree .... I think it WAS a hit.

But the fact remains can the HULK actually be killed ..... by anything?

Yeah. He's died in a lot of alternate realities and in the 616 universe.

Can't say I read Planet Hulk, but I thought it woulda been cool if the Juggernaut found his way to that planet and scrapped with the Hulk in a no limit battle royale.

Hell, when the Hulk got exiled and the Planet Hulk thing started, I immediately thought of those issues of Thor where the Odinson used his hammer to teleport Juggernaut "away" and ended up sending him to a distant planet where he ended up taking over.

And maybe I'm reaching too far for connections, but that fight between Thor and Juggy where Cain got teleported away was the debut of the New Warriors.

This is the part where I'm supposed to be a jackass and tell you you don't read Hulk and shut the hell up because you didn't remember that Professor X wasn't involved in that meeting to exile the Hulk, right?:D

You made good points about the wormhole as it's pretty much the biggest hole in my argument. However, look at what you wrote above . . Another possible hole they covered up? Prof X wasn't there to pick up any bad dealings . . How convienient.

Couldn't Hulk evolve to not need to breathe? He has shown the ability to quickly adapt to areas where no human could survive.

Maybe they, like me, were behind in the knowledge that The Hulk has become a living god of power.

If they really wanted to kill him, why not just send the ship into the nearest sun...?

That wouldn't have gone by very well with Dr. Strange, who only agreed to the plan because he wanted his friend to be happy. It would have gone horribly with Namor, who wouldn't even go with the plan at all. If either Tony or Reed or both of them wanted to kill off the Hulk in the first place, they would have had to stage it as a benevolent effort.

That's assuming, of course, that they wanted to kill him off in the first place:o. But then, why wouldn't we think that? How easy it is to forget that by this point, Tony and Reed are far, far different people from the sort of people we might have thought they were a year ago. Reed has sent psychotic hounds against his friends and family because it was scientifically smart, and Tony has orchestrated the assassination of harmless Atlanteans so that he could start a war as distraction. The question now isn't if they would do something like this; the question is if they wouldn't.

With that said, though, would they actually do something like this? Hm. Who really knows? It really is possible that the explosion was just an accident; if Richards hadn't planned on the ship going through a wormhole in the first place, it's not as if he could have planned for whatever a wormhole might do to the ship. Stupid mistake, perhaps, but not malicious.

Incidentally, do we actually see the explosion take out almost an entire planet? It was a big boom yes, but I didn't get the impression that it was anywhere near planetary.

Incidentally 2.0, the Hulk can't breathe in space. And he needs to breathe.

Well, at this point, Hulk believes they were actually trying to kill them. He says so himself. Add in the fact that everything got screwed up and he wound up on a planet where
a woman (or close) is pregnant with his child
and the ship explodes...well, now we see why WWH is going to be so massive. People have done things to the Hulk for as long as he's been around and he's never gone on the sort of rampage Marvel has been advertising. Now we see why WWH will be so HUGE. His friends, his family, his kingdom...

::SPOILER::

In an interview it was stated that Sakkar will be destroted before WWH.

Ever since I read the New Avengers: Illuminati issue and the first issue of Planet Hulk, something bothered me. Why would Tony and Reed leave a video message for Hulk, explaining that they were sending him away? Surely the best thing to do would be not explain anything and Hulk might assume the ship was just screwing up or something . .

You can say it was a way to tell the readers what was going on, but it was already explained to us way before we see the video message. Something is up there.

Fast-forward to the latest issue of Hulk.

::SPOILERS::

The ship blows up, most likely due to the damage Hulk caused it and the wormhole it went through. Wouldn't two of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe foresee something like this happening? Arguably the STRONGEST character in the 616, a monster driven by RAGE, left alone on a spaceship after viewing a video-message from his "friends" claiming they're EXILING him from his home?? Anyone with half a brain could figure out that something bad would happen. And when does a ship just blow up like that anyway?

I can only conclude one thing. Tony (and/or Reed) sent that video-message to purposely enrage the Hulk, causing him to destroy the ship and trigger the explosion. It was a hit attempt.

Thats an interesting theory and I have one of my own. I think youre right personally, but i havent had access to recent Hulk issues which may take some validity from my own theory but here goes: (SPOILERS!!!!! do not read if you havent completed civil war and civil war tie-ins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

ok, so we know that Tony set up the Goblin to go after the Atlantean diplomats. And he did that so he could up the percentage of registered heroes, of which he is the leader, also keep in mind that as well as Tony and Cap knew each other(its hurts to refer to cap in past tense) Tony probably knew that Cap would eventually reneg. And also right from the beginning, Tony and Reed were the ones to launch Hulk into space, they were also among the first three in front of the president after cap went rogue.

It is with this in mind that I conclude Tony and Reed have some kind of tracker or monitor on Hulk's ship. They know he's coming back, and they developed the fifty state initative as a frontline of soldiers to battle against the Hulk . . .. a group of soldiers that IRON MAN NOW COMMANDS!

think about it, tony something says along these lines in one issue: Can you imagine a fighting force ready to mobilize from across fifty states against a single threat?

They tried to kill/banish him then when they realized they failed, they used the War to build a fighting force capable of toppling the Hulk when World War Hulk happens. No matter what if Hulk kills any of the three of them they are going to be looked at as heroes, but they are the ones who condemned the Earth to Hulk's unbridled fury. . . . . What can stand up to that? Sentry? . . . .maybe if he doesnt puss out. and even so that fight alone could level a state, or possibly a whole continent. And with the lack of mutants that have retained their abilities . . .Earth is ill defended.

and PS - Namor called it Illuminati p22

Yea Firaxan has a great point, Tony apparently has the power to see in the future, he predited just about everything that happened in the Civil War, so its possible that he could predicted the Hulk's revenge and thus plotted the Initiative to take down the Hulk. What a d*ck.

I have to agree with anghulk, I think they did plot to kill him. Prof X wasn't there and they wouldn't stand for that, hell neither was Doc Strange. I have to say, in the past few months I have come to fall in love with Tony Stark's persona. I think he is exactly what the MU needs right now. Someone we all love to HATE!

Why do people forget that the Silver Surfer was even sucked in by an anomaly that was unnatural that was meant to bring people to their planet, and was the sole reason the Hulk was brought to their planet?

If they wanted Hulk dead, they'd just have killed him, most likely via the Sentry's favourite method, the sun.
banner's not really that kind of scientist, though.

He's shown to do things that are easily outside of his range.

How is that a dick? Planning for a possible country killing event?

They didn't plot to kill them. I don't know why people think Tony is just some killer, after showing extreme remorse for Bill's death, and his repeated attempts to keep people alive, and bring people in for incarceration, over flat out killing them.

Prof X might see the purpose in sending possibly the most dangerous being to another planet, and Strange is not above banishing people for that.

The warp drive wasn't enough to destroy a planet. If it were enough, Hulk would have to throw it several times faster than light speed away for it to not destroy the planet's atmosphere and knock extinction levels of radiation upon the planet, cooking everything around it.

Well me and you keep banging heads like a mug Mistress. WTF!? Anyways, this is remorse? What about what when he threatened Spidey and his family? What about the Clones he has made? I have to think about one question that I think spidey asked earlier on in Civil War, something along the lines of "who keeps a lock of Thor's hair in order to clone him?" Not even mentionning him sending Hulk into space and trciking Hulk into believeing that Nick Fury did it, which we all know now that was a clone. I mean what about what I just said about Nick. I mean basically Tony put the death hex on him by doing this little "trick" with the clone. He knows (and we now know too) when Hulk gets back the first person he is coming for is gonna be Nick, the real Nick! I don't really call that "humanitarian" at all Mistress. Come on!

Let me tell you about a man named VICTOR VON DOOM...

Nah, more people hate Tony than they do Doom right now. I'll take a pole later! You'll see.

Exactly. That's my problem. You said that Marvel needs someone that they love to hate. That's why we have supervillains.

Yeah that's what I mean. We need somebody to hate and right now that is Tony!:cwink:

I'm way more interested in seeing who fights alongsside Hulk when he returns.
