Endgame Top 3 Best, Top 3 Worst, & MVP/LVP/Most Improved! (Spoilers...Beware!)

Top 3:

1 - Captain America - This was possibly his finest hour
2 - Iron Man - Also possibly his finest hour, but Cap I do feel trumped him slightly
3 - Ronin - Big surprise he is in my top 3, but I loved him in this movie. His arc was so strong

Bottom 3:

1 - Thor - He was basically one big joke
2 - Hulk - Love the Professor Hulk idea. Hate that he basically got all his character development off-screen, which made him have no arc on screen.
3 - Rocket - He just didn't do much.

MVP - Captain America...he was amazing
LVP - Thor - Major downgrade from IW, where he was a contender for MVP to here.
Most Improved - Captain America - he went from cameo to MVP.

Top 3:
1. Iron Man
2. Captain America
3. Ant-Man

I don't think I need any explanation as to why Iron Man and Cap are in the top 2. If you've seen the movie, you obviously know what I mean. As for Ant-Man, I've always really enjoyed Paul Rudd in this role, but this is the best depiction of the character I've seen thus far. LOVED him in this movie!

Bottom 3:
1. Hulk
2. Rocket
3. Captain Marvel

If I have one nitpick about the movie, I thought that the resolution to Banner's plotline in Infinity War was a little underwhelming. I would have liked to have seen a proper rematch against Thanos, too. Very, very minor complaint. I didn't dislike Rocket whatsoever (and he had some great one-liners), but he didn't do as much as I expected-- certainly not as much as he did in Infinity War. As for Captain Marvel, she's a character that I flat-out dislike (sorry not sorry). However, I didn't hate her in this movie at all, but she isn't in it much, so ... Here she is on the list. Also, I think that the other female characters gave me more "girl power" feels than anything Captain Marvel did.

MVP: Um. The rat that got Scott out of the Quantum Realm? DUH.

LVP: I guess I would have to say Rocket. However, none of the heroes did anything that was dumb or a detriment to their goal. All heroes were in it to win, so I feel kinda bad picking one character as LVP.

Most improved: In comparison to Infinity War, I guess I would have to say Cap ... Because Cap was unbelievably awesome in Endgame. In comparison to all of the Avengers movies, though, I'm going with Hawkeye!

Best three
Tony: Had the best arc in the movie. Plus "I'm Iron man".
Black Widow: best acted scene in the movie, when she had that conversation with Cap. Speaking of that, Evans was disappointing in that scene. She acted circles around him
Antman: I wasn't expecting this at all. Paul Rudd surprised me here. Plus, "That is America's ass". It's cannon, Antman has a huge crush on Captain America

Improved

Wanda: almost wrecked Thanos
Pepper: she was great with Tony.
Clint: got more to do.

Disappointing
Captain America: didn't like his end
Thor: l love fun Thor, but they went too far here. Any he was de-powered in this.
Hulk: I love what they did with him here, but I wish we got more action from him

1. Cap/Tony
2. Natasha
3. Hulk

I don't have any worst, I'd have liked Wasp to have gotten a bit more to do.

MVP - Cap/Tony/Nat in terms of what their actions in the movie led to.

Nat gave her life to obtain the soul stone and had taken up oranizing and leading the heroes that were left after the snap.

Tony came up with the way to get the Stones and sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos.

Cap galvanized the team and held Thanos at bay one on one until the cavalry showed up and he led them in the final battle.

Honourable mention to Scott who started the ball rolling in regards to the figthback with his suggestion for time travelling.

Who are your top 3 Best characters from this movie?
Steve Rogers/Captain America. He was always my favorite, and I am glad he finally got to shine in an Avengers movie for once.
Tony Stark/Iron Man. He truly became the heart of the franchise in the end.
Black Widow, who should have been the first female to get her solo.

Top 3 Worst of this movie? Elaborate on why as well
Thor, huge let down after his incredible performance in Infinity War
Hulk, who never really barely shows up, and when he does, he is useless.
Captain Marvel, she's just a boring character to me with not much personality, and it's not much to root for when there is no stakes in the fight.

Also merging into this thread to pick an MVP for Endgame,
Iron-Man. He's also the most valuable asset to the entire MCU, and he will be missed in future ensembles.

LVP (aka Least Valuable Player)
Okoye. And I loved her in Black Panther and IW, but she was wasted in this film in the grand scheme of things
,
and Most Improved from IW to Endgame.
Clint Barton. Who has been one of my personal favorites since I first saw his cameo in Thor a long time ago. He got so much crap from audiences and fan boys, and well, I'm glad to see him given some justice.

Best
1. Tony - this was his best performance in any movie. RDJ brought it in his finale and his send off was perfect.
2. Cap - still the overall best and strongest character in the franchise and didn't disappoint here.
3. Thor - stole the movie again. Aside from Tony, Thor had the best scenes in the film, especially that heart wrenching moment with his mother. Another perfect blend of the comedic and dramatic.

Improved
1. Clint - I struggled to not put him in the top 3, but he fits here. Finally gave him a strong character.
2. Widow - BW has been a top 3 character for me and I still feel she has never gotten her just due.
3. Nebula - This could have been Nebula's film in a lot of ways. Her dual role totally shaped the entire second act.

Worst
1. Rocket - just there, nothing to see. Completely underused. His character is way better than what they gave us.
2. Professor Hulk - again, he was there, and his best moments came with his discussion with The Ancient One. Without that, he's meh.
3. Rhodey - I was hoping he would be given more to do this time around, but nope, they kept poor Rhodey right where he's always been.

I'm really surprised more people didn't like Thor.

You could tell the dude had immense PTSD and I legit felt bad for him at points.

The problem wasn't that he potentially had PTSD &/or had deteriorated mentally as a result of the events of the snap, the problem was that what he was going through was all handled, for the most part, like a big massive joke.

MVP:
1. Captain America: Absolutely speechless. One of the most memorable characters in cinema history
2. Iron Man Absolutely speechless. One of the most memorable characters in cinema history
3. Black Widow: Greatest acting performance in the movie. Scarlett is just wonderful in Endgame.
Worst:
1. Thor: had his moment but overall an absolutely joke how they treated him. Give me back my badass Thor.
2. No one
3. No one.

MVP
Thor

LVP

War Machine

Most Improved

Black Widow

Top 3 Best

Thor
Iron Man
Rocket

Top 3 Worst

Pepper Potts was the only one I thought was off because of Paltrow's acting but it's a minor issue

Right now, all I'm gonna say is that the character moments thru the first two acts of the film where a treasure. It reminded me of what we got when Whedon was playing with these superheros.

1. Iron Man - he owned this film. Definitely RDJ's best performance as Tony since IM1, arguably the best ever.

2. Cap - Some great moments sprinkled with great humor and a satisfying conclusion to the character.

3. Ant-Man - by far this is my favorite performance by Rudd in the role. Not to say that the other stuff was not good, but the writing and his character arc got to take it to another level.

Honorable mentions: Hawkeye, Nebula

Bottom 3:

1.) Thor - look I'm going to be generous here, what happens to Thor is completely justifiable from the script. He's totally messed up from what happened and he felt that he was the one to stop it and he failed twice. I just think it's a bit of a set back from Thor in IW and Ragnarok.

2.) Hulk - The problem here is that Professor Hulk doesnt really do much. After having been denied Hulk in IW I think k most of us wanted to see him do more battle.

3.) Captain Marvel - it's fair to say her appearance is a cameo. She's absent through the majority of the film. Again I dont think it's a big deal and it's certainly understandable considering this was filmed before CM or there was ever a script for CM.

The problem wasn't that he potentially had PTSD &/or had deteriorated mentally as a result of the events of the snap, the problem was that what he was going through was all handled, for the most part, like a big massive joke.

I bet a ton of money Thor’s direction was a mandate from the higher ups to keep the film from being TOO somber and morose. Everyone else was down in the dumps and there needed to be a character to bring i guess levity to the movie and that was Thor, so they made him a joke instead of having him brood like everyone else. Thats my guess at least.

Top 3:

1. Iron Man. What more can be said about the greatest Avenger. Robert Downey Jr 's performance was unmatched.

2. Captain America. He was awesome, and that IS America's ass.

3. Black Widow. Her best performance in the entire saga.

Most improved: Tie between Ant-Man and Hawkeye. Two characters U really didn't care about, made me feel for their struggles and losses.

MVP: Iron Man.
LVP: Thor, he really didn't contribute to anything.

Bottom 3

Hulk
Thor
Captain Marvel
Dr. Strange. (ok 4)

Those 4, the most powerful characters in the entire MCU, all together in one place, and couldn't take out Thanos? Thor, who injured Thanos while wielding the six stones in the last movie was getting rag dolled by him, Captain Marvel, who goes on and on about being the most powerful one there is, didn't do squat to him, Dr. Strange, who could've portalled him or his head to another place in the galaxy, didn't do squat, and Hulk was a joke. They had to let Cap and Iron Man, two regular men, do the fighting.

And now that I think about it, why didn't Dr Strange just reverse Tony's death? All they had to do was take off the glove and take out the stone and reverse him back to life? Sure the 4 million whatever ways had Tony doing the snap, but that was to take out Thanos.

Best:
Tony
Cap
Lang

Worst:
Pepper
Pepper
Pepper (Paltrow is the worst)

Most improved:
Nebula

Special shout out:
My girl Wanda of course.

Best:
Tony
Cap
Lang

Worst:
Pepper
Pepper
Pepper (Paltrow is the worst)

Most improved:
Nebula

Special shout out:
My girl Wanda of course.

I will say Paltrow at the end was incredible with Tony

That said i agree with you about Wanda. She was so incredible here and in IW. She really deserves her own movie

Best:
1. Cap. Nuff' said.
2. Iron Man. What a legacy.
3. Natasha. For being a beacon of hope in a darkly-lit world.

Worst:
1. Thor, I guess? I didn't hate his character portrayal here, but it was definitely a bit jarring.
2. Thanos
I can't really think of anymore to put in this category.

MVP: Scott Lang
LVP: Rhodey, sad he didn't get a big moment to shine in the armor.
Improved: Clint. The whole scene with Nat in the rain, then on Vormir, then in the sewer.

Other notable mentions for their badassery: Valkyrie and her Pegasus, Wanda, Carol in the final battle, Black Panther, Nebula.

TOP 3
-Cap: of course.
-Widow: Her journey was key to the whole saga and it was perfectly concluded in this movie. The way she never gives up after the snap, and after Thanos is dead was very touching. And she gave everything for her family.
-Ant-Man: He got to do a lot of stuff, the Pym tech was the key to time travel, and he was a great proxy of the audiece in the post snap five years later exposition.

WORST
-Gamora_ She was kinda ok, but her past self, at that point (begining of GotG) should have been more inclined to help the good guys
-Loki: A wasted opportunity to do a little more
-Pepper: Rescue felt kinda forced.

(Dis)honorable mention: Hulk. I really, really liked Professor Hulk BUT there should have been more of a reason to his reluctancy to fight Thanos in IW. Maybe that he knew back then that he was meant to do the counter snap, so he had stay out of the fight or something.

MVP: Nebula. A great surprise. Very prominent and valuable to the team AND the villains. Instrumental to get the stones, her past version was instrumental to get past Thanos to the current timeline, and then current Nebula shots past Nebula. What else could you ask?

LVP: Captain Marvel. This is totally unfair 'cause I hate to call out characters for not being something they weren't supposed to do, and it's clear that she wasn't supposed to have a big role, she was more than enough, more would have been to the detriment of the movie and the swang song of other characters BUT she is big and front in the poster and trailers, so I will hold her to that. Plus, I have no other characters to complain about their role (Drax maybe)

Best
Iron Man - It is definitely his movie and really, been his journey throughout the run of the MCU. Great stuff. "I am Iron Man," then, now forever.

Captain America - Yeah, the elevator scene did it for me. Great fan service to his character throughout.

Hawkeye - The everyman pov we needed throughout the movie.

(Honorable mention to Ant-Man)

Worst:
Hulk - This was cringe. I felt like I was watching a knock off version of his character. The character model was creepy as well. We've removed the fun of the Hulk from the Hulk and we're left with whatever this is.

Thor - Double cringe. A little too much wacky. After the one scene, things should have got more serious for him, but it just got even more wacky.

Spider-Man - His return was sad. He seems to turn into a lame version of Jimmy Olsen anytime he's around Tony Stark. It's embarrassing.

MVP: Iron Man.
LVP: Groot (can't remember anything he did when he returned).

Best:
Tony
Cap
Lang

Worst:
Pepper
Pepper
Pepper (Paltrow is the worst)

Most improved:
Nebula

Special shout out:
My girl Wanda of course.

Actually, thanks for reminding me, Wanda is #5 on my "most powerful yet useless again Thanos" list.

Top 3
1) Iron Man

2) Cap

3) Black Widow

  • Cap and Iron Man could be tied for 1st, really.

MVP: Iron Man or Ant-Man

Worst 3
1) Thor (I'm not a fan of comedic relief Thor and felt like a huge step down from Infinity War)

2) Rocket (He had a few good comedic lines and such, but didn't seem to do all that much and him and Thor's chemistry and scenes together weren't as good as the one's in Infinity War)

3) Rhodey (Nothing particular wrong and it was hard to come up with a "3rd worst" but nothing he really did stood out on my first watch)

I will say Paltrow at the end was incredible with Tony

That said i agree with you about Wanda. She was so incredible here and in IW. She really deserves her own movie
I disagree, Holland out acted her so hard in that scene. I wish she hadn't been there at all as awful as that sounds. :funny:

Most Improved goes to Hawkeye. Finally, a film where he's not only likable but you admit he's a BADASS and more than holds his own.

I really enjoyed we got more of Rhodey this time around. But he wasn't kicking any ass in this film. I was disappointed there.

Nebula/Ant-Man are my MVP's. Loads of screentime and they really utilized it.

LVP would probably be Bucky for sure. He barely had a cameo. Also, Pepper Potts. Also, Thor was comedic relief which was great, but why?

Top 3

1. Iron Man - Amazing acting. Nough said. I haven’t been able to get my mind off his fate for the past 2 days.

2. Ant-Man - Freaking hilarious. Paul Rudd is amazing.

3. Hawkeye - Brutal, in a good way. Can we get a Ronin movie?

Bottom 3

1. Cap - The last 25 minutes or so were just brutally bad for this character. I see people calling Rey from Star Wars a Mary Su/Gary Stu, but she’s got nothing on Endgame Cap. Additionally, his final scene was so incredibly out of character.

2. Winter Soldier - He was robbed of the Cap mantle.

3. Thor - I get why they went the way they did with him, but they overdid it.

MVP - Iron Man

LVP - Cap

Most Improved - Black Widow: That scene...man. Never thought Natasha would have me on the verge of tears.
