Those are legit beefs and some good points.
I always had equally firm opinions on what a 616 book like the Avengers should be.
What happened to avengers was a little different. They were repositioning the brand to appeal to a bigger audience. I'm sure they've been thinking about creating a new team with Spidey, Wolverine, Cap and Iron Man, but since Avengers has been Marvel's main team in decades, they've decided shake that up. And I have to say, it was a pretty successful move if you look at the numbers (and the numbers of events this move made possible). I don't know why they needed decades to create their own JLA.
It was a success BECAUSE there was thinking behind it. You may not like the new direction, but you can't say it wasn' a conscious business decision.
What's happening to the whole Ultimate line is just incompetence. Loeb didn't want to change (**** up) the Ultimates, he just did. The editor's apathy let him.
