Ultimates 3: Bad Comic, Or Worst Comic?

How Much Does Ultimates 3 Suck?

  • WORST...COMIC...EVER!

  • Not the worst comic EVER, but still very, very bad.

  • I didn't read Ultimates 3, nor do I care to.

  • I enjoyed it (Please explain WHY if you vote for this option).

Those are legit beefs and some good points.

I always had equally firm opinions on what a 616 book like the Avengers should be.

What happened to avengers was a little different. They were repositioning the brand to appeal to a bigger audience. I'm sure they've been thinking about creating a new team with Spidey, Wolverine, Cap and Iron Man, but since Avengers has been Marvel's main team in decades, they've decided shake that up. And I have to say, it was a pretty successful move if you look at the numbers (and the numbers of events this move made possible). I don't know why they needed decades to create their own JLA.

It was a success BECAUSE there was thinking behind it. You may not like the new direction, but you can't say it wasn' a conscious business decision.
What's happening to the whole Ultimate line is just incompetence. Loeb didn't want to change (**** up) the Ultimates, he just did. The editor's apathy let him.

mad's art was freaking amazing in ultimates.
okay not the best plotline but I bought it for the art so who cares.
much perfer this to all star batman and robin as jim lee is ridiculously overatted.

Anyone that thinks Mad's art is better than Jim Lee's needs to be beaten to death with his own shoes.

As for Ult 3. I took one look at the book and put it back down. When companies are this inconsistent with comic titles it's an insult to all those who started reading that series in the first place.

Ult 1 and 2 were pure gold (my personal fav series of all time). Ult 3 isn't worthy of my toilet.

mad's art is better than jim lee's :o
just because jim started the genre doesn't make him better.
all his characters look EXACTLY the same.

Jim Lees characters do not look exactly the same. Compare his Croc to Bruce Wayne, or his Joker to Nightwing. Not even close. I'll give you that his women need some work, but even then there's variation.

What are you even talking about, 'started the genre'. What genre? Jim Lee and Mad's art are VERY different and while I don't like the way Lee draws some characters, overall his art is heads and shoulders above Mads (which looks even worse, FAR WORSE, when it's supposed to follow Hitch's lead).

Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that Mad misunderstood story from Loeb, and made the real heroes in their 616 outfits, when they were supposed to be in their ultimates gear. And he then put the robots in the ultimate gear as the story progressed.

It's sounds like complete nonsense, but strangely enough, it fits EXACTLY with what happened.

That seems like a very real possibility. That still doesnt excuse Thor talking like his 616 version for no reason, the Wasp being into incest, and Cap dressing up as a black guy.

What the hell is this?

Much that I may hate you, I don't think I hate you quite enough to tell you about Marville.

Just be happy you never had the misfortune of reading it.

As you all know, Ultiamtes 3 concluded this week. It featured such wonderful lines as "Well then, I guess that makes me...THE MOTHER F**KER!!!"

I have a story about how this has brightened my day. I visited this thread earlier today and was amazed at how bad this comic could be but for some reason this line has stuck with me. I rented Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and throughout the entire time I played everytime I killed someone this line went off in my head. I've gone from wanting to stick a pen in my eye to finally embracing this line as the greatest line in all of comicbook history. The next time I go to my LCS I will buy the issue with this line in it and quite possibly frame it. And you know what that makes me? THE MOTHER F**KER!!!"

The line is even more ludicrous in the actual book...The exchange goes something like this...

Yellowjacket (speaking to Wasp): I don't want to kill you. I haven't finished my tests yet, and really, you're like a mother to me.

Giant Man: Well then, I guess that makes me...THE MOTHER F**KER! *rips off Yellowjackets head*
