Toy Story 4

Up's opening is up there with Pixar's best work. I fell in love with a character in a montage, and then had her ripped from me in a way that should not have been as painful as it was. My only issue is that now, I don't quite like the rest of the movie as much as the opening. I still really like it, but it is almost downhill from an opening that is probably near impossible to top. But yeah, it is definitely one of those scenes. Pixar is great at showing how the passage of time is us humans greatest curse.

The people at Pixar truly are wizards at creating emotional moments. When they want you to feel, they make it happen. It's rather amazing.

Saw the teaser, I really thought months back they were running the well dry with this and seeing the teaser, even more so, reading the synopsis for it, it just screams 'desperation' to draw the whole thing out. Number 3 wrapped things up so well, we don't need this and from what staff are saying in creating it too, they don't sound too 'into it' too much either.

The opening of Up is the finest story telling in animation, if not, in film, of all time in terms of emotional heft & story setting. It killed me the first time (I watched it on my own, thank goodness) and it kills me every time, as someone who cannot have children, I identified with it and the sheer ache of loss when Elie passes is just raw, unbridled pain and that notion stays in the hope of their journey throughout and the feeling of their shared 'spirit of adventure' lives on and can inspire for our remaining years is something so wonderful.

I'm honestly more interested in the teaser poster more than anything. Gives off kind of a melancholy mood.

Yeah when I watch up I have to fast forward the first ten minutes cause I always end up an emotional wreck and have to move on to something else.

Love the Toy Story movies but the teaser doesn't thrill me. We're in the fourth movie, it's pretty late to introduce brand new characters. Here's hoping "Forky" is a minor character who doesn't take up a ton of screen time.

Is Carl Weathers' Combat Carl in the movie?

It's is incredible, but I don't even think it is their best scene in terms of emotional heft. There are multiple scenes from Wall-E, Coco, Toy Story 3, Finding Dory, and a few others that I think match it in that regard. But if I was to crown a champion in that regard, there can only be one.

Many scenes from Pixar have put tears in my eyes. But I legitimately can't handle this scene, even now. It get's me every single time, and I can't help it.

Based on what they've said, no, Sporky is one of the main things about the movie. He essentially has an existential crisis.

OK, well, we'll just see how it comes out, I guess. Thanks for the info!

Seriously? That is like going to watch a Bond or Mission Impossible movie and being like, "but why are they introducing new characters still". I am legitimately confused.

Also this characters sounds absolutely terrific imo. It ask a question that I have had from the start of the series. What qualifies as a toy, and why are they "alive".

Yes, we do need existential horror in these movies.

It sounds like one of the abstract idea Seth Rogan would make with "Sausage Party"

An object made from an art class area doesn't really count as a toy IMO.

I would have been happy if there was a snazzier "Buzz Lightyear 2.0" that original Buzz get's jealous of.

Ham- Oooh! Look he has drone mode!

Buzz 1.0- That's not flying.....

They beat out any unique story with Buzz after the first. The Spanish mode and the jealous toy reversal on the second was dumbbbbbbb.

Toy Story 3 is easily the best. But I can barely watch the end of the movie. The feels are too real.
I remember tearing up hardcore during the trash compactor scene, feeling like THE END was very near. More than TDKRises or any other third film in a franchise would have the balls for.

Very underwhelming. Don't see the point for this.

The teaser was a teaser. I wish it was different though as that "teaser clip" won't be in the film, I think.

i kind of like the concept of an object becoming sentient if it is a considered a toy
probably thinking too much into it but it does make me ponder about the toy story universe rules

Like do other objects have the same rules as the toys ?
if Forky is sentient as a spork does he have a existential crisis with his new role as a toy ?
If he is given new life as a toy, does that mean if the extra pieces are taken off does that mean that he "Dies" as a toy and goes back to being a regular spork ?

To me it looks like they were trying a bit too hard to come up with some concept to give the new movie Deeper Meaning.

This will be the first one without John Lasseter around, we'll see how it goes.

Uh...... Yeah I really wish this stayed a trilogy. Don't get me wrong I'll probably still see it but Pixar needs to quit making sequels and go to some orginal ideas. There last few movies have been just plan sequels except for Coco and of course it was due time for a Incredibles 2 but we really did't need a Finding Dory Cars 3 or even a Toy Story 4. But Money talks I guess.

Apparently their next four unannounced films for 2020 and 2021 are all originals.

Not sure what to make of a fourth one, given how perfect 3 was and pretty satisfying if that happened to be it, but hey, this does look good. It's Pixar, not going to get all negative nancy, they almost always deliver.
