Dear God in heaven, this series had a beautiful ending in Toys Story 3. The fourth film felt underwhelming but now this fifth film is overdosed.

I'll be seeing for sure. I highly doubt they'll make a "bad" Toy Story movie.3 was the perfect ending. I did like 4, but didn't really feel like a conclusion but more of an epilogue. Lots of talent involved with 5 and I've loved Toy Story my whole life so I'll be there day 1 regardless.
What is going on here? If it wasn't for Forky being there you'd think that they retconned 4.
Well, I guess when the powers that be force you to make a movie you previously had no intention of making, you're likely to revisit scrapped ideas. They're retooling the scrapped recalled Buzz plotline for Toy Story 3, which confuses me all the more.
Agreed about Buzz being pushed more and more to the background in 3 and especially 4, but he was given a proper storyline in 2 between leading the toys on the mission to rescue Woody and more importantly, he was the one who gave Woody the pep talk to bring him back down to earth and remember his purpose. It was a mirror of what happened between the two of them in the first movie with the roles reversed but it still worked.Buzz's arc was resolved in the first movie. The focus of 2 was on Woody. In 3 they had to put him in spanish demo mode. And in 4 he was given nothing to do (besides that lame "inner voice" thing). They don't know what to do with Buzz.
Oh yes, the focus was on Woody but he still had relevance to the plot for sure.Agreed about Buzz being pushed more and more to the background in 3 and especially 4, but he was given a proper storyline in 2 between leading the toys on the mission to rescue Woody and more importantly, he was the one who gave Woody the pep talk to bring him back down to earth and remember his purpose. That's happening in Toy Story 6.They really did miss the boat about doing a story where Andy tries to get the toys back.
They could've at least outfitted new versions with the fancy utility belt that he got in Toy Story 2. It still looked cool.A bit surprised that the toy company that makes Buzz never changed his design after 15-20 years.
