Oscars are the most flatout overrated awards show in the world. It's not a awards show for movies at all. I bet they only awarded Compass because they didn't want stigma for awarding a Michael Bay movie (more bias) or giving it to a sequel to last year's winner (bias again!).

I guess simply because that Mr. Bay talked too much and worked too hard to impress the whole world that TF has to win "best visual effect" for all movie awards.

You know what? the Oscar Judges simply don't give a f u c k how many piece each of your model may have or how long time it may take to render a single frame, they just want to tell you "I give awards to those I want to", so it's wise to act like quiet-good-boy some time.

Once again political BS screws the truly deserving. If you didn't want to give it to Transformers, then give it to Pirates. I could think of at least five films from 2007 that had better F/X than Golden compass.

The oscars are crap anyway. It's pretty much a panel of movie critics anyway. All the below par films get praised and the others ignored. Only once in a while do they give awards to movies that deserve them.

the CGI was complex.

they said that there was sooo much ray-tracing that without reflection you would see only the eyes of the robots.i dont even want to start with the animation. they said that they used different transformations for every scene. so Prime didnt transform the same every time. they did everything for the specific shot so that it would look the best.
plus bay uses tons of practical special effects. so they had to import all the CGI scenes with rotoscoping and the use of Shake in all of those original plates.

TF had the best effects in 2007. and thats a fact.
