Also have a shot at nomination for Production Design, but I doubt it.

Not at all. Best Original Score can come from a sequel. It depends on a number of factors, including use of past scores.

I remember when the Oscars were a lot more open to sequels and genre films, with Lord of the Rings and Gravity being the exceptions in recent years.

Remember, Star Wars A New Hope was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Alec G.

Back to the Future and Beverly Hills Cop also were nominated for Best Original Screenplays.
