I'm pretty sure there was a mention that they've adapted to it since.

Of course, that's probably a comic prequel, so it may or may not be canon.. leaning towards canon myself.

It was no mistake.....Bay has gone on record saying that he named the talk "Devastator" because he felt the name was much cooler sounding.
