In a previous report here at Seibertron.com, we informed you that Jon Voight, who played Secretary of Defense Keller in Transformers the Movie, had stated that he will not be returning for the sequel to the film.

MTV Movie Blogs sat down with the actor recently and caught Mr. Voight pushing for a cameo:

“I should be able to make a cameo,” Voight said. “That’s a good idea. Let’s talk to those guys about that.”

Mr. Voight then went on to tell MTV Movie Blogs that making Transformers was a lot of fun and that Director Michael Bay did a brilliant job. But as far as a return, it wouldn't come without benefit to the character Voight played:

“It all depends on the plot, of course,” he said, “and what the plot needs, you know. But the Secretary of Defense, we want to know what happens to him. Was there a new administration that came in? Maybe he ran for president. Maybe he became president.”

Jon Voight as President in the movie? Better yet, a Secretary of Defense running for office and winning? Well, anything's possible.

I won't miss him.

I liked him, I liked his character, and the role he played to move the story along, but he definately doesn't need to be in this one.

Is his character really THAT important to the grand story? Not really, in my opinion. Let the focus be on the Transformers this time around.

Why does he think people want to know what happens to his character?

I don't know what to think with these supposed sources. Either the TFW or Seibertron one (Can't remember which right now) mentioned something that Orci specificly called a lie a while back.....who to believe? the anon. source or the guy who co-wrote the movie?

With this one there was suspision of this a while back after a scene shot where that character was walking away from an incident calmly while others were panicing. At the time it seemed the only logical explination for this.

unless it's about either when we'll get the trailer or any kind of oficial news then i'm close to saying i don't wanna know.

That actually sounds like an interesting idea. I'm all for a darker tone to this film.

I'm not really surprised by this alledged revelation that Alice is a Pretender. And I've been thinking for awhile that the Frenzy-esque robot attacking that car was probably her without the Pretender shell.

They took the idea of robot aliens from a mechanical planet coming to do war over a metal cube that imbibes machines with souls in stride. I think making this character do more than cause drama in the ongoing relationship will be a pretty good "oh, hell" moment for most.

That's pretty cool if true, introducing Pretenders into the movie franchise is a damn great idea. We have a Combiner, possibly a Pretender, bring on the Headmasters

Hmm the idea is cool but am I the only one that feels it's alittle early for Pretenders?

Ummm... yyyeeeaah. Gotta say i don't so much like this idea. Giving transformers some kind of biological crossover is no good. Its an invention of the comics? yes? Just keep the robots robots and the humans humans. Get those characterizations right first. Storylines such as Pretenders came years after the series was established, correct?. There is a reason for that. Some times it takes years to come up with an idea that unoriginal. :oldrazz: Bay of course latched on to it pretty quickly. I just dont want to see half the movie wasted with crappy scenes where we establish that Lucas is shady using heavy handed music and lingering close-ups on her oh so shifty eyes.

Constructicons, Megatron's rebirth, and the Fallen/original thirteen is really enough to deal with. Sounds like Bay is just throwing crap against the wall. Its starting to seem like a petulant child, "Fine... you fans want classics? ...more mythos and lore and storyline? Then... here! (Throws darts at transformers history book) Choke on 'em."

Anybody got some pics of Pretenders looking human...ish? I couldn't find much.

Hmm the idea is cool but am I the only one that feels it's alittle early for Pretenders?

Hollywood looks at the shell life of franchises as the span of one trilogy. Third films are where they stumble, and fourth films usually don't come until some time has past. You almost never see 2 trilogies. So take that into consideration. In terms of the movie universe, they have a lot of mythology to try and find a place for.

Haha, Pretenders. Let's just go all out and hook up the Triple Changers. I want to see someone transform from a robot into a Cobalt into a Zamboni and then back again.

The SHH front page reports that TF2 has wrapped principal photography. So i guess now it's all about the CGI rendering and such....
