I can't understand why they nearly ruined it with that rapping part. If it were actually done by someone who had some style or attitude in their voice, it might be cool, but now it just sounds like some cheap lame rapper doing it.
I've concluded so and such:
it's part Knightrider, part retro 80s music, part bad rapping.
K, well it reminds me of the beast machines intro... not the best transformers show but I'm not totally dissapointed with the music since I've heard similar for transformers in the past. What I hope is that the score is more epic than this rock music stuff... this vid may kick your ass enough to win you over... or not... who knows.
Eh. I like it... but it seems more like a "2nd part" to the credits (if you sit through them) rather than an actual official theme. Sorta like the Classic Spidey theme remake that comes in late in the credits for Spider-man. As much as I like the homage, I sure hope it's not the official theme. I'm getting flashbacks to Ninja Rap and Addams Family Groove.
(p.s. I still like Linkin Park... stop dissin them).
I think it's decent. You're right that it should only play during the end credits. As for the spidey theme I loved the remake of that song for the mid 90s cartoon. Then a few years later that piece of crap Spider-man Unlimited cartoon came out.
CLEARING UP THE PLACEMENT OF THE SONG & WHY THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY "FIGHT MUSIC"- PERIOD
It IS a credits song... I am willing to bet a million dollars on the fact this song will not be in the film and only during the credits. Also, this is obvious due a spoiler in the song. The song is for credits, it's the second song in the credits- most likely- I'll put money down on that now.
The movie will/should NEVER use "fight" music like TMNT (all) did- which oddly, some fans have been asking for, funny? I know, but it's sadly true.
I think people are confused, because I've heard many TF fans- oddly, oddly, very oddly enough saying that they wanted metal and really really heavy rock songs playing during the fights... now, that- to me personally is a true WTF?! So please for the love of god, don't have what some TF fans have been asking for as 'fight music' in the film- just play the score through the fight sequences, we don't need heavy metal songs playing with a fight sequence. That's what the early TMNT films did and it was corny as hell, we don't need a "go turtles, go turtles, go!" playing during a fight sequence. That would ruin the movie, flat out. Just play Jablonsky's score for the fight sequences and autobots rolling out.
And that rant above is why, I think, there are some posters who are confused as to the placement of this song as a CREDITS song. Because in some of their minds, they had Powerman500, etc. playing over Optimus vs. Bonecrusher and other random things like that. So, hearing the song, based on what some have had in their minds for so long- they naturally place it in the "autobots roll out" moment. Which is obviously wrong for the reason detailed in the spoiler below:
Notice how they don't say Jazz. That should be a clue enough for you guys to figure out that this song won't be played during the film... "why didn't they mention Jazz in that song?" Dun-dun-dun.... he dies, that's why. It would be too clear and obvious... thus, not an "autobots roll out" song- there won't be one... it will be Jablonsky's score.
The ONLY songs that will/should be in the films are the possible other tracks in the soundtrack. And the ONLY reason why those other tracks has a chance- for example, the more "Sam's story" type songs- is due to the presence of a car RADIO while driving. Like a possible song when Sam and Miles arrive at the lake, but other than those scenes- nada, nothing... just have Jablonsky's score.
Do I like the song? Yes, I do... but, seriously if it plays during the film itself- I will be pissed. There shouldn't be any "fight music" PERIOD because as I said- the idea of "fight music" in a film like this is cheesy as hell and is a joke now. It's something you would expect in a bar fight scene during a comedy.
Best example of that that comes to mind is the scene from 'Dirty Work':
But, fear not- as I said this IS most likely a CREDITS song. The second credits song... just like Aerosmith's take on the "Spider-Man" theme for Spidey's first film.
Also, most of the songs on the soundtrack- other than credits songs and a possible song or two playing on a radio (due to the need for diegetic sound- in this case music; flashback to the Uncle Ben and Peter car scene in SM1)- will not be heard in the movie at all. These soundtracks are made to produce an extra promotional and/or merchandising item to go along with the film at most. Just look at all the past superhero flicks, for example, with a soundtrack- chances are 80-90% of the songs on the soundtrack you won't find anywhere in the film itself.
what?
people are after Fight music? wha?
It doesn't matter where they put it, you can put it on for 15 seconds when everyone's left the cinema or whack it on when Optimus is singing a rendition of it....I think the point people are making is not this song sucks as it'll be in a fight scene in the film, people think it sucks....PERIOD.
And i still don't understand how you're coming to the conclusion that it's a credits song based on a different franchise (SM) with a different director, film company, record company and calibre of band (aerosmith/mutemath)....not that I care actually where it is apart from the recycle boxes of the earth.t:

"Mr. Mutemath what you have just said, is one of the most insanely idiotic things i've ever heard, At no point during your rambling, incoherant response, were you even close to anything that could have been considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber having listened to it. i award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

I actually cried tears of blood listening to that song, I feel it has somehow tainted my soul with it's pure awfullness and hope to never let that piece of music discrace my ears and mind ever again.
You know, being a sucky Theme is one thing. But having a Theme that sounds like a mix between Linkin Park and the Transformers Cybertron Intro, that's a whole new level of suckage.
Yeah... honestly, I can't hear anything beyond nitpicking... I mean, I would say "Oh people are just expressing their genuine unbiased opinions" but when people actually suggest that this theme, an acceptable remix by nearly any standards would be used during the movie I have to scratch my head... what movie has EVER used a rolecall song, or a TV theme song remix during the actual movie? Ever?
But for someone reason, I'm supposed to suspsect that Micheal Bay is magically stupider than all movie directors throughout the history of American Cinema. Bah.
It's a decent remix...I just think the rolecall is corny as heck.
