Sci-Fi Tron: Ares with Jared Leto

The real goal of Tron Ares is to give us season 2.

So how do you explain Flynn returning in this one?!

He could be hanging out in the Sea of Simulation with Tron after he rebooted the entire server. I dunno why but the purple makes me think he's fragmented.

The Disney snipers must be right off screen.

I'm really intrigued that the composer announcement isn't “Trent Reznor” but specifically “NIN”.
Considering that “Trent Reznor is NIN” but that he had never used the name of his musical project to sign any film soundtracks, the only reasons I can imagine is that Tron:Ares would use NIN remixes (like in the trailer but that would be odd) or that, beyond the presence of Atticus Ross, Reznor would approach this project with a band to get a specific kind of sound...

In any case, I can only applaud this choice of successor to Daft Punk, even if, out of patriotism, I wouldn't have minded Carpenter Brut or Perturbator... :hmr:
Not the same star-power though.

Yeah, it's because the last film was under the Daft Punk name and not Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. I guess Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and the Disney markeing team wanted to do the same.

Carpenter Brut or Perturbator would have been cool even though they're more horror/sci-fi/noir-based, but yeah it's not a brand name like NIN. I personally would have loved Kavinsky, Starcadian, Timecop1983, or even Lazerhawk.

I can't remember, but did Bangalter and de Homem-Christo sign any duo works under these names?
The Daft Punk “brand” was definitely better known, and I'd be tempted to say that today “Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross” may be more popular than “NIN” to most moviogoer.
That's what puzzles me, I find it hard to understand the logic but I think I get what you're saying : it's a way to keep a sort of pattern, right? Having something cool sounding I guess.

It's true that the bands you mentioned are less dark and maybe more appropriate.
I know both but not super well... Time to dig that a bit more! ^^

I would also say The Midnight would be perfect even if they're probably too light and jazzy for a Tron movie. After Kavinsky, Gunship, and Justice they're the most well-known of the new synthwave movement.

I've seen the leaked trailer, and this looks MUCH darker tone-wise than Legacy. If the music in that is NIN's score, then it's VERY moody. Either way, I'd say they're a solid fit.

I finally saw the first film in full and I didn't enjoy it. A lot of the visuals look dated. Certain parts looked like pre-prod visualizations, that it was taking me out of the film. Half of the time, I didn't understand what was happening in the film as well.

The visual upgrade to the 2nd film is definitely seen and felt. But I watched the 2nd movie in the cinema back in 2010 or 11 and the story wasn't very good either. So I'm not yet sure if I want to rewatch Legacy.

Ares, I think I would wait when it is streaming. But unless the reviews are very good, I might reconsider.

I would've liked Scandroid or Essenger to also get a shot at this.
