Sci-Fi Tron: Ares with Jared Leto

Cool trailer. Great music.

Does the whole movie take place in the real world?

A major appeal of Tron for me has always been going into the grid and the immersion of it all.

So is this a sequel to the previous one or a reboot type? Olivia Wilde was great last time. Eh.

There are a few shots of the digital world.

Hopefully the final act will be there or something. I certainly like the idea of worlds colliding but I don't want it to be entirely in our reality.

Watched this trailer a few times... second most anticipated movie of the year. I haven't watched Legacy in probably a year or two... time to revisit for sure.

It looks okay. Like most, I would be a lot more interested if Leto wasn’t the lead. I don’t have a problem with him appearing in supporting roles (though his casting as Skeletor still annoys me) but it’s hard to get excited about a movie built around him.

All in all though, I still think the best Tron thing that has ever been released was that cool test footage they did for Legacy. It got me so hyped for that movie, but sadly the movie itself was kind of a mixed bag. And I was never a fan of the original. I guess it would be ironic and funny if the best Tron movie turned out to be one with Leto as the lead.

I should rewatch Tron: Legacy before this. I can't remember anything from the second half of that film.
All I remember is cool visuals and Daft Punk's score (which I own a copy of). It wasn't a particuarly memorable film for me.

Do you wear contacts or glasses? If so, be sure to take them off whenever the young version of Jeff Bridges is onscreen.

As excited as I am for this, I wish this had some 'direct' connection (I get Ares has us in the 'real world' and Legacy ended with that notion) BUT wish GH & OW were in the film, unless Ares is set years afterwards, and with Bridges back, there's clearly going to be reference to Legacy.

October cannot come quick enough, this film gets me way more excited than anything coming out in the Summer. Loved the first two, am old enough to have seen the first in the cinema.

The trailer looked very promising indeed. Will absolutely be seeing this on the big screen.

Rewatching that footage makes me wish this had other colors. All we’ve seen is an excess of red so far.

I thought Leto might change up his look a bit in this to give him more of an “AI” appearance but I guess not. I suppose it doesn’t really matter but for a supposed “method” actor he doesn’t do much to differentiate his characters physically anymore. I look forward to seeing Skeletor’s beard lol.
