Sci-Fi Tron: Ares with Jared Leto

Jared Leto is not leading man material. He's best when he's a supporting character. Also...rebooting/resetting the franchise is stupid. Tron Legacy's story wasn't groundbreaking but it was solid enough to make a sequel. You throw it out, you're throwing away the legendary name of Flynn.

Disney, please pull your heads out of your @$$es for 2 seconds. Just make a sequel with better filmmakers at the helm.

With Leto, its' the case of him playing younger. Like him or not, he looks damn good for his age. I know he's vegan, but he's using fillers like Botox or had surgery, he's able to do in the most smartest ways it seems. I'd say he looks like he's around 30-34 at 45, which may fit the millennial bill.

If they're gonna reboot , they should go for 20 somethings imo, or even late teens, which is more of the millennial bill I was referring to.

Yeah, Leto looks good for his age, but It'd be better to go with younger actors for the leads , though again, I don't mind the idea of Leto as a one shot villain.

I don't dislike him, but he was completely overshadowed by two different versions of Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde in Tron Legacy.

Olivia Wilde was definitely the stand out in TL. Potentially losing her character all together in this fashion is disappointing. These films had a very niche audience to begin with. The original Tron developed a cult following while TL did ok making $400 million. Rebooting Tron at this stage is not going to suddenly make the brand a billion dollar franchise. Especially with Leto as the lead. The decision making on this by Disney is a head scratcher.

I've lost interest with Leto's work, in general. I find there is a superficiality to his real-life personality, which makes his "method acting" feel like a by-product of that. It all feels like something he does to attract attention to himself, as opposed to its purpose of delving deeper into an on-screen role. Other actors, who resort to similar acting methods, don't go around treating it as something to "show off" to the public or other actors. I'm not sure if my explanation makes complete sense, but I find that other method actors treat the technique as something far more personal to them. Other method actors are uninterested in drawing the public's focus towards themselves, but instead, they solely want to draw their attention to the on-screen character. Do I believe that Leto's on-set pranks (like giving his fellow actors obscene gifts) as the Joker were because he was deep within the character's persona? Hell no. Leto gives method acting a bad name, and I feel that he primarily does this for publicity. I dislike him quite a bit for that.

A bit of an incoherent ramble, but yeah.

I'm fine with Leto but I dislike the idea of a reboot.

Legacy didn't do great at the box office but rebooting isn't going to do the franchise any favors.

They could still make a loose sequel building off things from the first movie.

I definitely don't want to see a reboot. Leto....I don't even know what to think.

Exactly

yeah I'm more pissed at the idea of a reboot than Leto at this point.

What in the f***?
Nothing against Leto. I like him but why reboot. I usually don't care about complaining about reboots but this makes no sense to me at all why scrap a 3rd installment just to announce a reboot so soon?

Well it has been almost 7 years since TL. And surely this new movie wouldn't come out until 2019 at the earliest. So the standard timeframe for a reboot has been met. However, I'm not sure about Leto...

I quite enjoyed TL and would prefer a sequel. It didn't end on a cliffhanger or anything but there was some unresolved business between Sam and Flynn.

But even the term reboot is being fast and loose here. They're saying it's not a sequel..it's starting to sound like..a spin-off? But a spinoff that is becoming a sequel.

So they figured out a way to make me not want another Tron flick. Well played Disney.

You want Jared Leto for Yoda. And you want Jared Leto for Vader. Got it. I'll let them know.

I don't think that applies here, considering it took them 30 years to make a sequel to the first one.

Reboot is such a loose term. I'm sure it will be able to act like a sequel.

I think it's a sequel in how the Alien: Covenant is a sequel, or Pac Rim 2. Taking place after the events of the previous films, but with a new set of characters.

While I think an invasion movie would be interesting but I'm of two minds of it..the draw of Tron was the world of Tron. So if it's mostly taking place in the real world, it takes away the appeal of the series.

The real world invasion would work IF the franchise had a bigger and devoted fanbase.

A reboot sounds more appealing to me anyway  And Leto is awesome

I think the original Tron is like a 6 out of 10 movie and that Tron Legacy is a dumpster fire so I don't care about this situation but I do feel bad for the fans who wanted a sequel. Also Jared Leto sucks.

They will end up doing the semi reboot but still a sequel thing they always do. Good to see tron still alive. The Flynn lives Viral campaign was so fun. And Jared Leto is amazing. And Daft Punk returning would be great. Love the legacy soundtrack

This just sounds like a bad idea. I like Leto as an actor (I'll just forget his Joker ever happened) but casting him as the new Tron lead won't make me want to see it.

Also, I thought they had already done a movie about digital characters invading the real, analog world, with Adam Sandler starring.
