Sci-Fi Tron Legacy - v2.0

I think think the effects used to make Flynn look younger is what hurt Tron from being nominated.

If Tron deserved any Oscar nominations it was Daft Punk's score. They were the ones who got snubbed.

Clu looks so much better on Blu-Ray even when he talks.

Here's Digital Domain's "Making of" for Tron: Legacy. You can see how much they worked on making those SFX.

dumb question time can you buy the 80s TRON on blu ray separately if not WHICH set (minus the one with the cheesy ID disc packaging) has it then? I was ready to buy the 2 disc NON 3D version at wal mart that came with a cool die cast 'light cycle 2.0' and from what I saw the 2 disc has all the same extras as the 3D version which is all I care about (could give a rats behind about the 'digital copy').

But Tron: Legacy wasn't on blu-ray when the Oscars were due. The Tron that they saw had a fake, rubber, young Jeff Bridges and saw it as a bad special effect. Especially since when you have CGI Arnold from Terminator: Salvation, that wasn't even played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and CGI Old Man Midget Brad Pitt from the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, looking really good and setting the bar.

It's a moot point anyways since Inception clearly deserved the Oscar and Tron: Legacy would have never won.

Color me surprised. I'm glad Disney may go ahead with another Tron.

Just saw the movie for the first time. It was pretty good, the visuals are jaw dropping and just outstanding. I enjoyed the story and the acting throughout the most part. My only qualms with the dialogue is that it felt like the only times Garrett Hedlund said anything it was a one liner. I'm pretty sure I'll be in the minority in this camp but as good as the music was, it just didn't do it for me especially on the action scenes. The action was great but it felt like the music was bringing it down a bit from being even more thrilling. For example the climatic plane battle should have been amazing but the music playing sounded like they were introducing us to the world music not climatic plane battle music. All in all great movie, amazing visuals, great story, the movie turned me into a Garrett Hedlund lover he was pretty solid even if his dialogue wasn't the greatest. I can't wait for the sequel.

^Glad you liked it, in all honesty, I havent heard anyone really dislike this film, just makes you wonder why it wasnt more successful.

Watched some of it in in 3D at Best Buy as one of the dudes that work there had it on one of the screens. FX wise, it looks excellent, the color pops.

I agree with other posters in saying CLU looks better in blu ray. It bugged the **** outta me in theaters, but on blu ray it's pretty good.

Anyone else completely blindsided by Cillian Murphy's blink-and-miss-him cameo? why was he in this again?

Well considering I posted about his cameo maybe 50 times not really lol. He was in this because he is the son of Dillinger (the villain CEO from the first Tron).

Thats pretty awesome that they got Cillian Murphy to do it. It would have been really easy to get some random average actor to be the part.

I Still think it's kinda ironic that Cillian Murphy was casted as Edward Dillinger jr. because David Warner who played (Edward Dillinger Sr. ,Sark & MCP- The Master Control Program) in the first Tron film was also the voice of Ra’s Al Ghul in Batman : The Animated Series and Cillian Murphy played The Scarecrow in Batman Begins .

Ya and it leads to a plotline they could go with another film and have dillinger jr be threat.

It would be great if Dillinger Jr brought the MCP back online. I always wanted to know how the MCP would look like in the new grid.

Nah. I'd rather do a world wide Virus thing...like Skynet.

MCP has been done. And the virus thing was done in a game....so it's up for grabs.

If they bring back MCP for the sequel, it would be a bit like a rehash from the first movie.

Man I was watching the the digital copy of this and I kept thinking it doesnt look right. So I popped in the blu ray instead and wow the difference is astounding

I tried to rip directly from the Blu Ray but still the quality is meh :(. I never was the biggest supporter of Blu Ray. I didnt really get into it until my laptop came with a blu ray drive. But now theres like no going back

Yeah Blu Ray is definitely worth the money. On the DVD everything that's supposed to be blue is white, it's fuzzy. It's so weird having your eyes opened to the differences

This might be a stupid question but is there a way to rip the blu ray quality?

CLU2 does look better in blu-ray, but there is just one thing that bothers me with the special effect: the mouth. Everything else with CLU2's face looks great and if it weren't for the mouth, I think that CLU2 and younger Kevin Flynn would have been on par with CGI 1980's Arnold and CGI Old Man Midget Brad Pitt.
