Sci-Fi Tron Legacy - v2.0

So this is real? Disney's seriously pushing forward with another TRON? I've heard rumors, but if this actually happens, I will be kind of surprised.

Tron Legacy was a pretty good movie. Nothing amazing about it, but it was a good movie. I'll go see the next one.

As long as Cillian Murphy has a bigger part, I'm all for Tron 3. And it seems like he's still a part of the board, so maybe there'll be some corporate espionage going on in the Tron world.

It's not really a Tron 3 teaser, but an epilogue to Legacy. Besides, we're already discussing it in the Tron Legacy thread, so why start another one when the real Tron 3 hasn't been officially announced yet?

Did another thread have to be made on this. When was discussed in legacy thread. Plus there is already a sequel thread.

Oh and Billy, if there's a Scream 4 Im sure as hell there can be a Tron 3. :cwink:

If there can be a Percy Jackson 2 or whatever, there sure as hell can be a Tron 3, dammitt.

I didn't really see it as a Tron 3 teaser either, but as a short compilation of the ARG that they had, which was called "Flynn Lives." :oldrazz: The players over on Unfiction are elated that Alan and Ram were characters in the ARG and that the game might be starting again, but I dunno if it's really a teaser to any sequels.

It's not, it's just something for the fans to have their interest peaked if there was to ever be a sequel. As of now Tron 3 has not been greenlit, but im sure the writers and Joseph Kosinski have something in mind for a 3rd Tron film if it does get an okay from Disney.

the writters already worked on the script before the premiere . remember the news?

that way if the movie is popular they can already start preproduction in teh next months.

now they need to whait for the BR realese to see if the masses missed the movei in the theaters. of course its impossible because they had a fantastic 6 months marketing.

Well, I finally saw the movie last night. Right from the opening sequence, I found myself wishing like hell I'd seen the movie in IMAX 3D. Oh well. The movie was alright as far as the story goes. The visuals were stunning. Very slick, very beautiful. Daft Punk's score blew me away. Had to download it this morning. My biggest gripe was the look of young Flynn and CLU. That glaring flaw in the otherwise-flawless effects really strained my suspension of disbelief.

All in all, I'd give the movie about a 7.5/10.

I felt the same way.

ya i still personally think it did well enough in overall box office figures. Sure its not avatar/the dark knight numbers. You cant expect every film to be something like those films. Those kinds of numbers dont happen all the time. But with what they made, i think its still enough to warrent a sequel. We know disney thought well of it during its production, doing tron stuff at parks, creating the animated show and all that. I think doing a sequel will be good move. We though probably wont hear of anything official from disney to probably early summer. Once the video sales been out for a bit.

$396,263,350 worldwide.

Well, the estimated production budget was about 170 million, according to box office mojo (with marekting probably closer to 200-250 million). The domestic gross was about 171 million, with the rest of that being foreign. Does anyone know if BO Mojo calculates the cut the theater takes from ticket sells or not? If they do, it's more likely to get a sequel as long as the merchandising and home media sales are pretty good. If not, however, it's more unlikely.

impossible to calculate theaters take. different prices. you have 2D,3D. then you have normal 3D and imax.

the fact that after the premiere they didnt talk about the sequel means that the BO didnt impress them enough to greenlight a sequel.
but not a problem. movies make money with bluray, dvd,tv rights,toys,....
if there is no news after the BR realese then you will not get the sequel in the next 3 years.

I don't think so dark, there is still plently of time for a sequel to be green light not every film is going to get a greenlight for a sequel after opening. There is other factors and time to go with.

i think they should make a sequel, but i have no clue as to how they would create a story when it seems like the tron universe in the grid is kinda done with...
have my fingers crossed for a equally stylish and action packed film

Yeah, I guess that is a good point, unless maybe they have some kind of plug in to tell how much a theater took per week or something, but I doubt it. Those numbers aren't that inspiring then, if it's just general gross without taking into account theater cuts.
