The Oscar for Best Score? I could be wrong, but I believe that score was disqualified since it included some remixes from Trent Reznor's Ghost album. I could be wrong, though, but I seem to remember reading that not too long ago.

It has yet to be officially disqualified. I believe a few people among the award site posters, internet community, etc. are predicting that it will not be allowed precisely due to some of its minor use of Reznor's past work, but as of now, it's still a contender. I too could be wrong, but this is the last I've heard.

Well didn't The Dark Knight score get disqualified from the Academy for using same material from his BB score?

I believe so, yes.

Ah, okay.

That wasn't really the case I believe. It was because multiple names were listed as composers, and I think the Academy only accepts a solitary composer as being eligible for the Oscar. I don't completely remember the whole situation, but here's a link to an article from around that time, which I think is mostly accurate:

They'll make an exception for The Social Network because everyone in Hollywood wants to remind you that it was the best movie of the year, the decade and possibly the century; perfect in ALL aspects; and if it didn't leave you in a state of absolute awe and ecstasy, then you are clearly stupid or blind.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie... but I get really annoyed when an overwhelming group of people TELL me that I need to like the movie.

if i dont think that TSN is the best movie of the century i am stupid?

i liked it 9/10

yes. very. In fact you will be forced to back to first grade if you think it isn't.

Tron:Legacy sequel in the midst of being greenlit by Disney

TRON+Legacy.jpg

Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that TRON: Legacy is “incredibly close to having its SEQUEL announced” according to his “Grapevine of Industry Insiders.” And when you’re as well-connected as Harry, that’s a well-informed grapevine.

It took 28 years between the first and second movie and now that Disney believes they have a legitimate franchise on their hands, they’re going to run with it. Want proof? Look no further than three things: the casting of Cillian Murphy in an almost throwaway role as a potential villain, the open-ended ending to TRON: Legacy itself and the news of two cartoon series’ coming in subsequent years to tide audiences over and keep the franchise fresh. Here’s what Harry had to say.

As kids around the country pulled out wall crawling light trail leaving Tron LIGHT CYCLES from under their Christmas trees, Disney has been counting the receipts – and I’m told… it’s about to hit the tipping point. Now the real question is… Where does TRON go from here? There is a plan, but it is being closely guarded.

Whether you liked TRON: Legacy or not, chances are you’d be curious to see what happens next in the story of Sam and Kevin Flynn, Quorra and, of course, Ed Dillinger Jr. What do you think?

I knew the merchandising was doing this really great but apparently its been all in ancillaries (merchandising) and they've been doing incredible apparently as that story tells us. The soundtrack which is part of all that has also been selling incredibly on Itunes.

Really happy the way this is turning out. I'm sure its going to keep making more money at the BO and it'll defintely keep doing well in the merch side if all is well. With that upcoming animated series they have coming I'm sure they'll be able to not only keep turning DisneyXD into a serious competitor for the rest of the animated dependent channels out there but will also be able to give Tron: Legacy nice revenue which will likely more sooner than later give us the sequel to Legacy.

^ nice news, hopefully it gets finalized.

In other news they finally released the cover art for the original Tron film titled, "TRON: The Original Classic"

First Look: Original Tron Blu-ray Cover Art

http://www.thehdroom.com/news/First-Look-Original-Tron-Blu-ray-Cover-Art/8178

We have known since last fall that Disney is hard at work restoring the original 1982 Tron for Blu-ray Disc and that it would be released alongside Tron: Legacy on Blu-ray in either March or April of this year. While the Tron Blu-ray announcement is still a little ways off, I do have a little treat right off the grid to share this morning.

Below is what will likely (though not 100% certain as the design could change before release) be the Blu-ray cover art for Tron: The Original Classic. From the cover you can see that Disney will be packaging Tron on Blu-ray with the DVD version and that it has been labeled a "special edition" release.

I can't get into specifics right now as to what warrants Tron brandishing the "special edition" tag. I can say that Disney is taking this catalog release seriously and is expected to be packing it with multiple hours worth of bonus features, some of which are all-new.

Check out the Tron Blu-ray cover art below and be on the lookout for a similar update regarding Tron: Legacy in the very near future.

this is sequel talk month after the realese. this could die down in march and april. lets whait and see.i think the sequel will not happen .

I really want Tron Legacy to have a sequel that movie had so much potential it was amazing. The possibilities of what they could do and where they could go are endless. I've seen it twice already and I know some people who have seen it three times.

End of Line. :woot:

Well we know Disney is making an animation. Maybe that's their idea and nothing beyond that.

I mean do want to see a sequel, but could Disney justify paying another $200 million or whatever because of the merchandising alone?

I want a sequel just for what they have in store for Dilling Jr., the stud that is Cillian Murphy...

nice news i too hope we get confirmation soon. though probably will be officially stated come dvd/bluray release time.

Pixar did it with Cars. Might not be completely out of the question.
