You're being really aggressive, especially after your 'PG' not 'PG 13' rant.

you shouldve seen him in the James Cameron's Avatar thread :hehe:

nah buts its cool, dark_b does bring up some nice points

I agree with dark B and I understand where he's coming from but he needs a breather.

1. digital domain is not a small studio. they are as good as ILM and WETA.
2. i didnt notice any problems with the eyes. the problem is that they have been saying for months that hes face will be CGI. davy jones is a sea monster and the navi are blue aliens. this is a human.

1. People who work at ILM and Weta are the best, you have to be the best to get jobs there. I think that they should be the ones hired to to do the digital doubles because they are the best in the industry.

2.When I first saw Davey Jones I thought it was Bill Nighy's real eyes.

I believe that creating the subtle movements on the face, there needs to be the creation of a muscles system under the skin to get a convincing result. It's probably to expensive for the fat cats at Disney to spend on one picture to do that.

New trailer is pretty good, like JP said not mind blowing but cool.

ILM and WETA have little to no experience on lengthy exposure with human faces. Digital Domain is the same team behind Benjamin Button, a film that most people failed to even realize utilized much special effects. It's a testament to their work that that character contained almost total cgi transparency.

I highly doubt any other studio could have done much better than what we have now. It's very impressive work, I must say. And I'm very critical of cgi doubles.

I already spoke of Digital Domains work on Benjamin Button in my second to last post.

Heh, yup I just read that. My point still stands however, that DD have much more experience with the technology than either ILM or WETA.

hmm, but I heard WETA did do human CGI.

Wasnt this all done via WETA? or am I wrong?

The shot in the beggining of the trailer where young Bridges turns out the light is incredible cgi wise

Just saw the trailer, fantastic. The movement on Clu's face could use a little work, though. The rendering on it looks great, it's just when he goes to move his mouth it doesn't look like he's actually saying the words that are being spoken.

No, you are right. But said shot(s) were mere seconds. DD worked with entire scenes and prolonged shots, which all accumulated to dozens of minutes. Hence they have considerably more experience on the matter.

Guys, we still have many months before the movie comes out. I'm sure it's not finished

I'm sure you're right, but even for where its at right now, I think the CG looks pretty damn good.

You didn't prove your point, you expressed your opinion.

Last I checked, stating facts was not a matter of opinion. Were you to provide counterpoints that disputed my statement, then we can start discussing further.

Wait, ILM doesn't have that great of experience in CGI?

LOL WHAT?!

No one said that.

Digital Domain has much more experience with the particular technology regarding motion capture of the human face than ILM or WETA.

Oh~

Well I don't give'a hoot, I think the CGI on Flynn looks amazing.
