I think most of the mainstream who see this trailer in theatres are going to be wowed by the CG Flynn, because they aren't able to view it frame by frame and what not. The thing looks extremely good for a CG character, but of course it ain't gonna be perfect.
they will nto know that it is CGI. the general public doesnt notice those things.

some gifs I made, ill make some more later

i have a question about Bridges CGI head.

i agree that it doesnt look perfect and 100% real. but do you agree THAT IT LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH for the general public? lets not forget that we are internet geeks. we look at every detail.

i think the CGI face is good enough for the general public and for the finished movie. could they do better? yes with more time and more money.

they can do better but so far ive shown this to some people I know who arent into all of this and They didnt believe that was CG until I told them, they were shocked.

I think it looks fine. Keep in mind, this movie still has like 4 months of post production left...

a little TOO corny and TOO cheesy?

well, we'll see. I like Peter's and Adam's opinions so hmmm.

opinions? i belive what they wrotte. i am scared that it will be corny and cheesy.

actually all three guys (peter, Adam, Dan) said it ...cheesy. Even Dan said it was cheesy but in a good way but it's hard to read him sometimes. If you listen to the slash film podcast, when Dan's a guest, he's usually very optimistic BUT to the point where it somewhat blinds his views. SO if a guy like him says it's cheesy, I might have to go "HMMMM".

like you said Dan is always 100 % optimistic. and this is what also scares me. he had a ''meh'' face. and this is comic con. i can not belive what Dan says on the podcast. but at comics con after the Tron pannel he looked like it was meh.

maybe hes girlfriend broke up with him 20 seconds before he was on the video? ehehehhe ;)

about cheesy in a good way. i think that they lowered their expectation for the story and since its a tron movie they maybe think it fits with the old movie. i disagree here. this is a modern hollywood movie. it needs to feel comfortable. if it desnt feel comfortable then this movie could be an underperformer.

I just feel that, if the movie fails on any level with the acting, keep it mind that this is the director's first film. Ever.

Now this is a big IF.

Wow, because one person said it looks cheesy, now people are going to get worried? That's pretty damn lame all in itself.

Ok the Jeff Bridges CGI ,De-Aged head is a bit odd,but that wont stop me from seeing this in the theatre!!

Correction, three (two I trust). I'm not bashing anything. Speaking for myself, my reaction was a mysterious "hmmmm". But I'm keeping an open mind.

the original film is cheesy as hell, nostalgia has softened that a bit for people

I tend to think that the general public is not actors illiterate, Bridges is an "old" man, people ( who doesn't live in a cave ) know him ( he isn't a new comer in the field ) so they will know that the young version of himself is a special effect ( CGI or whatever ).

I didn't find the first one cheesy but maybe I don't fully grasp the meaning of the word. For me a cheesy movie is like Flash Gordon ( the 80' version ).

I showed some of my friends. None of them had any idea he was CG. I think the only people who really notice he's CG are us and people who look at the trailer very closely. Seriously though, so far, this looks to be one of the best CG characters I've ever seen.

Nostalgia is like acid flashbacks for anyone 25-45 apparently, because everyone remembers it being better than it probably is/was. After 10 years of reading comments from people posting online, I have to say it's pretty bad. Rose Colored glasses and 20/20 hindsight, mixed with childhood expectation, gotta love it.

yea...I recently watched the first one and, it hasn't aged well...its still a good movie but it isn't the life changer that a lot of people make it out to be

I may sig this or save the quote if you don't mind

It's just silly, that after two great trailers for a sequel to a cheesy 1980's early CG Disney film, people are saying it looks cheese and any open minded fan suddenly being concerned. But hey, nature of the internet...

Knock yourself out, BL

Agree on the first part of your sentence, I disagree about the second part. It was "life changer" at the time, computers were new and this movie was already using an advanced concept à la Matrix.

Maybe it is me but I still like old special effects in movies when done well such as Tron or even stop motion in Jason and the Argonauts. For me it is like old paintings, the pieces by DaVinci, Rambrant and the like are still masterpieces, I feel the same way with old SFX.

Tron was also one of the first notable movies about Video Games that I remember, next to The Last Starfighter. Both films helped pioneer CG in motion pictures. But it was far from a game changer. Honestly till recently, it was considered a joke and a disappointment. Most people my age talk highly of it, till they watch it again. That is why this sequel looks so good and cool to me, because it is such an overall improvement, compared to the original.

I don't know... to be honest, I think people get a little too hung up on dialogue in movies. Granted, there are movies with AWFUL dialogue, but sometimes I seriously wonder what fans expect characters in movies to say. Screenwriters have a tough enough job as it is, trying to make characters' speech feel natural while not making it boring. I think the Internet as a whole has blown up the concept of "bad dialogue" to epic proportions.

It's like with James Cameron's movies. Now, I'm not the biggest Cameron fan, but people who hate him and trash his films (usually before they even watch them), say all the dialogue in his movies is "crap." I don't know... yeah, there are some bad lines here and there, but you can find that in any movie. You can find bad lines in The Dark Knight. You can find bad lines in Casablanca. In Gone With the Wind.

So maybe their comments about the film's dialogue are spot on, but I'll wait and see. Until I hear Clu or Sam say "Mesa day startin pretty okee-day with a brisky morning munchy," I'm not going to panic.
