Ultimate One Universe
Character Application
Character Name:
Ronald 'Ronnie' Raymond
Alignment (Hero, Villain, Walking the Line):
Hero
Character Speech Font and Color:
As Ronnie, RedOrange Arial. As Firestorm, RedOrange Impact.
Powers and Abilities:
Naturally, Ronnie is a mutant, or member of Homo-Superior. Easily an Omega Level mutant, he has the ability to separate and orchestrate the flow of molecular particles. He also has about the ability to create nuclear/radioactive blasts, expedite nuclear decay, transmute elements, absorb energy, and augment his own physique. In order to do any of these things though, he must transform into a flaming nuclear man, which he usually covers in decorative armor.
Due to the Organic Splicer, Dr. Banner is trapped inside Ronnie's body. Fortunately, Banner's knowledge of chemistry and physics enables him to guide Ronnie when he has to rearrange molecules or control physics, and the like. Because he can only exert so much guidance in a passive state, (and Ronnie isn't even aware of Banner's containment [yet]) partially due to Ronnie's limited understanding, Bruce's determination and anger can overcome his limited control, allowing him to take over as the 'driver'. His fuller understanding of science allows him to pull off greater feats than when Ronnie is in control.
Character Origin/Backstory:
Ronnie Raymond was born as a mutant with phenomenal ability. It was not an inherited trait from either of his parents. For a long time, he hadn't known of his ability. When he turned twelve though, he was furious and he had run away from home before his anger manifested in a transformation into a fiery being. At the time he was in the wilderness away from anyone who could see. Keeping his mutation top secret, he's attempted to teach himself how to use it, with little success. For the mostpart he's chosen to ignore it and attempted to lead a normal life, with success, until a fateful day at school.
He had been an eighteen year old student at Midtown High School. As a Senior, he had been a valuable addition to the football team, often seen with Flash Thompson. He and his social rival, the physically unimpressive but intellectually gifted Jason Rusch, were on a field trip to Star Labs where they met the ingenious pair of collaborators Robert Bruce Banner, renowned physicist and chemist, and Danton Black, geneticist and accomplished biologist. They had been working on a project to condense multiple beings into a composite body.
At the end of the trip, the class was shown the project's most integral piece, a small tube that contained The Organic Splicer, developed to make transportation and nourishment easier for human survival, it was a device that could take two bodies of humans and place them into one. As a demonstration, Ronnie was selected as a volunteer. The other individual was Dr. Banner. When combined, Banner was absorbed into Ronnie's body permanently. A panic ensued when no one could find Banner, not even Ronnie knew where he'd gone. It was marked as an accident and further trials for the Organic Splicer were canceled.
Ronnie was able to continue going to school. Graduating High School, he moved on to Empire State University with a scholarship based on his incredible ability to play football, a scholarship he only gained because the cream of Midtown's crop, Flash Thompson, had been benched due to an injury when a college scout came by. He finds himself in an intense social rivalry with Jason Rusch, who would be on the football team at Ronnie's side if the coach didn't have such favoritism for Ronnie.
What Makes This Version "Ultimate":
Banner's involvement, the lack of a need for a second person to become Firestorm, his status as an omega level mutant, his supporting cast (coming soon) and the exact nature of his origin.
What can you bring to the RPG:
Certainly not any contraband (unless someone's buying). A powerful version of Firestorm with teenage problems, fear of antim-mutant discrimination, and a version of Bruce Banner that isn't Hulk.
Sample Post (provide a short post of at least 3 paragraphs and 1 line of dialogue for your character):
Metropolis, USA
A bright yellow streak burned in the sky, lingering for a moment before dimming into nothingness. With all the lights in the city, you wouldn't think it be that different, but that would be a false assumption. As it turned out, Firestorm left a spiraling radioactive column behind every time he took flight. With a degree of finesse, Firestorm swung around tight turns, through parking garages, and even looped around skywalks like it was a path he trotted down every day. Because, as a matter of fact, it was.
Cruising above the sidewalk and general populace, Ronnie heard, "Stupid mutie," "Watch where you're goin' freak!" and dozens of other terrible things per city block.
Out of nowhere, it seemed, a red beam tagged him. Hollering, Ronnie fell out of the sky, his nuclear tail following his example. Noticing he was on track to becoming roadkill in any second, Ronnie used his abilities to erect a barrier and seal off anyone crossing into the intersection he was headed for. He could only make so many objects at once, so he let his decorative armor take the brunt of the fall when he went skidding across the granite.
"That is some shot you've got there, now I'll show you mine," Ronnie said, as a fire with a black core flickered to life around his fist.
"Come out, come out wherever you are!" he yelled, sweeping his eyes every which way, trying to find his assailant.
"This is your final warning. Or else the kid gloves come off." From behind the flaming freak, he was once more hit by the beam. He absorbed the attack's energy aspect, technically benefitting from it, but it's concussive force still sent him for a whirl.
"What good is your shot if you can't even see me. After all, I never miss," the shooter bragged, his voice coming from several different directions. From over his shoulder, he heard, "Boo!" and Firestorm turned, looking for him, but only seeing a speaker the size of a gum drop. From it, the shooter said, "You like 'em, they keep my targets off balance, like so." Another shot landed on Firestorm' s turned back. "Com'on! It's like you're not even trying."
