Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Part 1

Yeah, it was implied that the reason they're not together anymore is because Nate prioritized his treasure hunting over Elena. Their conversation about how Nate gets into all these death-defying adventures, where Nate accuses Elena of enjoying them just as much and she sternly but kind of sadly denies it, along with Nate's apology in the hotel room, seemed to indicate that Nate might be a little addicted to the thrill of chasing after treasures and knowledge as a means of escaping from a "real" life, which a stable, happy marriage to Elena symbolizes.

They definitely worked the break-up and romantic tension into the story well enough. My point is that it's just straight-up unnecessary. We've had 2 full games of "will they/won't they" romantic tension, and the ending of U2 made it pretty clear that Nate's heart was committed to Elena whether he wanted to admit it or not. The prospect of her death was pretty much unthinkable to Drake at the end of U2. That's dedication of a more than friendly sort. I guess my point is that they do the whole break-up/get back together spiel in U2 as a means of symbolizing Drake's desire to ultimately be a good man (as opposed to being a dishonorable thief by taking Chloe's offer to run off halfway through, forget about Lazarevic, and just be happy with her). It felt totally unnecessary and frankly kind of boring to rehash that same plot again in U3.

I couldn't agree more man. I brought up the same complaint a few pages back. The min i saw the characters meet on screen i just had to roll my eyes and say "are you kidding me, again!?"

[BLACKOUT]Id really like for ND to lock them up next go round. Maybe even give them a baby, have Drake really question why he's on what ever adventure he finds himself on. [/BLACKOUT]

Well, at this point, Nate's established himself as pretty much the greatest treasure hunter who ever lived. Maybe next time they villains could kidnap Sully and/or Chloe and/or Cutter and force Drake back into adventuring. Elena could even push him into it herself because she cares about all those people as much as Nate does.

Plus, they might go into space! :awesome:

I really liked the [BLACKOUT]Last Crusade vibe they had going throughout this final chapter. From the flashback intro to the them towards the end with Sully, this really hit all the same/right notes that The Last Crusade did so well.[/BLACKOUT]

Found a copy in Redbox yesterday. Fired it up around 9:30PM, finally HAD to turn it off at 5:30AM. What an awesome game! I love this series. They play like you're in a movie. Just pulls me in, won't let go.

I totally get that, and I was surprised by it to but
I think it might be because a lot of people feel like they were already dating in between the first and second. But what I took from it was that they kept in touch for a while until Nate disappeared on Elena. So when she saw him with Chloe, she figured he was just a womanizer and that Nate goes around flirting with girls so she felt like she was just another number. Like the decision to have them not kiss at the end of the first one, I interpreted that as a sign that they both have feelings for each other, but for whatever reason are not willing to let it out because they are kinda waiting to see if the other will reciprocate. But it also feels wrong to them because they seemed so different. So when Drake finally kisses her at the end of two, its because he realized how much he really did love her and that he would've regretted it had she actually died. So he finally let his guard down for her.

I know on/off romances can get annoying when they last a long time. But the way I look at them in the series s kinda like Peter and MJ in the Spider-Man films, where the first film shows two people who develop feelings for each other, the second shows them finally give in and act on those feelings and a long time of denying for whatever reason, and finally the third shows them having problems trying to make the relationship work because of certain issues that they aren't addressing. I didn't see it as a rehash of the second one because Drake already knew how he felt about Elena and it was most likely part of the reason why he was reluctant to inform her about what he was doing and trying to get her involved, plus Nate had his own personal struggle in this one that extended beyond whether he was trying to be a good guy. It was more about him trying to find some closure in things that started years ago, as opposed to trying to be rich or finding treasure.

1. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception 10/10
2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves 9.5/10
3. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 9/10
Fixed. :cwink:

I can see this happening.
I think Drake's next adventure will be one that he reluctantly goes on, and he'll probably discover something halfway through that forces him to continue with it.

I can't wait for the score to be released. It's always been one of my favorite things about the game. My favorite has always been the Nate themes. I like how have all been the same, with just a few subtle differences with each game.

The soundtrack is on iTunes and the PSN.

The coop still has the same issues as the last game though. It's relentlessly hard and the one-hit kill enemies just make it unfair.

[BLACKOUT]I think its a fair assumption they WERE dating, at least briefly, in between one and two. There is dialog in the second game that leads one to believe this. They did not just "keep in touch". There was something much more there. So to see them, yet again, break them up was a little, i dont know, redundant. I just hope they can keep them together next time and if they dont, then Elena doesn't even need to be in the second game.[/BLACKOUT]

On another note, are the boosters back this time around? I mean wheres the option to have one hit kills or unlimited ammo?

Damn rocket launchers! Those who have played long enough know what Im referring to

Just browsed the Soundtrack on iTunes. WOW. Deff gonna snag that right now.

My god every single track is so damn Good!! Favorite ones so far is Museum Bust

I like Boarding Party, reminded me of one of Magnetos themes from X-Men: First Class.

Yeah I think I like the campaign of Uncharted 2 a little better. But I like the multiplayer of Uncharted 3 more.

One thing that i liked about Uncharted 2 which there was very little in U3 was Climbing

I loved the climbing portion in Uncharted 2 when you are in the Temple with Chloe, Mountains with Tenzin and the Monastery with Elena I think there was only one climbing level in U3 which was the Boat Chapter

Yeah it rocks. I have my copy that I got from the Strategy guide playing in my car. It makes traffic a lot more adventurous.

Sorry if this was posted already but apparently many people are having problems with the aiming controls in Single-Player, claiming that they are too stiff and that the aiming has more lag than it did in UC2. Here's a video of a guy demonstrating the problem:

and a link to the Naughty Dog forum where they discuss the problem

I personally didn't notice this but enough people have that Naughty Dog is working on a patch and they even invited some posters from NeoGaf to their studio so that they could pinpoint the problem:

I definitely noticed this, but just made the appropriate adjustments. Reminded me of more of Killzone 2 style aiming rather than a Call of Duty style. I liked both.

Hmm, I haven't noticed this in multiplayer. I think it's more of a glitch issue.

Is it consistently lagging with the aim throughout the game?

No it has nothing to do with that, rather a lack of analog control with really subtle movements. It's hard to be as precise with the aiming as in 2 imo.

Anyone notice that htey slightly altered Elena's face? Her eyes are different. They seemto be smaller and a bit more angular. Its a minor change but it does make her look differently, at least to me. It also makes her look younger
