The Dark Knight Using your imagination - Horror in TDK?

they could shave gordons moustache. that would be really horrifying

Thankfully, the troll was taken out before it was allowed to breed. But I still thought I'd point out that the Joker seems far more likely to kill ignorant bigots.

So un-Joker-like behavior - he'd be against being American as much as Nazi-ism - he's not exactly one to take sides; especially when that action does nothing for him personally

That's great, but I remember seeing a european movie. It starts with the girl talking about a dream of her being buried alive. She does suffer that fate, but so does the boyfriend. However the boyfriend has a golden egg and screams. The title and scene is a bit vague, anyone seen this movie.Help please ???

Like it was mentioned earlier, you could probably get a really bone chilling scene
by leaving the gruesomeness of Joker to your imagination...or from another point of view.

For instance, everybody wants to see joker carve a smile, yeah? But I doubt a PG-13 movie would ACTUALLY show the process. But let's say Joker shoots a man and he falls to the ground. Joker pulls out a knife and begins to slowly carve a smile in the guy's face while he's still alive. A simple solution would be to focus the camera on Joker's face the whole carving, showing how happy this really makes him, while you just hear the man's screams in the background. When it's all over there's a shot of Joker's hands, now very bloody, and a shot
of the finished victim now with a permanent grin.

You get your grin. And , TO ME, that's much more disturbing.

Want to push the envelope more? Let the viewer see the carving from a different perspective. Let's say that man Joker shot, let's say he has a little daughter and she wakes up from her father's screams. She slowly walks towards the living room, and peeks in (the camera only shows HER perspective I mind you) and you just see this twisted clown perched over her screaming father doing something with a knife. Joker then turns around and notices the little girl. Stands up, his hands all bloody, and points his knife towards her, saying "Now...let's put a smile on that face!" He begins to walk towards her and we cut to a different scene.

So Joker basically murdered a father and little girl AND carved a smile in their face, without much blood or gruesome "Hostel" violence. It's kept PG-13

And to me that's more ****ed up.

What do you think?

i agree, that would be more disturbing.

I seriously doubt the last one if u want those hostaged kids involved...And i think it would be cool if thats not really batman like in the comics...just one of those wannabe batman but thats ofcourse if they have nothing to do with the joker and his gang (duh)...Which I think will also explain the joker card that says "Will the real batman please stand up". And I dont think the joker and scarecrow are going to have anything to do with eachother whatsoever.

The Horror could be a plot twist..........

The Batsuit Has teh Nipples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone wanna list what novels those clippings come from? so I can go out and buy them:whatever:

The Joker has flair, panache. He's not a slasher villain. Yet at the same time he is a cold, remorseless psycopath. I'd like to see the aftermath of the violence. For instance, we hear he's in the hospital. The police storm in but it's eerily quiet. Perhaps we see bodies or even notes that have been left for the coppers. We don't see all the bloodshed but we see the result. Namely that there are a ton of corpses and even these SWAT guys are terrified. But in terms of seeing what he does? Save that for the machine gun massacre.
But it's all about the atmosphere. The music plays a big part in this. Some scenes should be really hard to watch because the build up is so masterful. I mean, Batman really has met his match in this guy. Would The Joker be so formidable if he was just a brainless psycho killer? This man likes to play with his food before he eats it.

These two pics totally sum up the whole debate for me. First of all, the power of words and someones reaction to them can be truely terrifying like the first pic, and then for the second pic basically showing the aftermath of something terrible and letting you use your imagination as to what has actually happened...............creepy stuff.

I can't think of an instance offhand where Nolan used graphic violence in any of his movies, even when they involved murder. It just doesn't seem his style.

That being said, it's not like it's unheard of with the Joker. Yeah, he usually kills with flair and all that jazz, but he's been known to get messy from time to time. Think of his beating Jason with the crowbar (even though it didn't kill him), and recently pretty much melting Alexander Luthor's face right off (in one of the most gruesome panels I've ever seen in a comic; almost turned my stomach).

But yeah, I'm not a particular advocate for graphic violence in Batman movies. But I wouldn't be opposed to it from time to time, if the rating allowed (which it really doesn't). I could see Joker going off the hinges and doing someone in in Patrick Bateman-chopping-up-Paul Allen-style.
