Utopia#Part- 1 The one world government

It's mostly on my views of government, not the ideals of socialism. I beleive in small government and socialism just screams big government.

NASA, which by the way contributes 3 dollars in economic growth for every dollar spent on it, on average
social security benefits
Federal Funding for Embryonic Stem Cell research
Marriage
having any minimum wage law at all whatsever
printing money
When the government steps in and says landlords can't discriminate or employers can't discriminate
tuition assistance
making it illegal for felons to buy guns
outlawing prostitution or drugs
housing assistance for the poor

It's illogical to dismiss socialism as bad, unless you support anarchy. The anti-socialism argument is an excuse Republicans use when corporations pay them not to protect the little guy. They aren't any more anti-socialism than demorats. They support it and oppose it when it suits their agenda or goal.

Let me get this straight, Spider-Bite. Do you envision a world where there's one global government with existing self-governing nations within it much like the federal government of the United States of America with 50 independently governing states within it?

A world government would need to become fascist to keep control of billions of people. It's a bad idea.

What happens when the government goes bad? Where can you emmigrate to? Mars?

With a government influenced by voters with so many different religions, cultures, ways of life, the only way for leaders to get elected will be to cater to every group, making a government less likely to "go bad." It's kind of hard to get any kind of ethnic cleansing passed, when the group that would be killed wont vote for you.

Um, all it takes is 51% of the international vote to screw over a minority or interest group.

That's how democracy works.

yes we'd have to allow a lot of state control in order for this to work. Imagine amish societies for example. We'd need sanctuary's for certain groups. It's basically saying "how'd you like the protection of this new government, economic security, health care, and the gurantee that you wont be enslaved, raped, forced into a marriage against your will, the right to speak your mind, and control this very government that is making you this offer?

The world coming together isn't any different than the 13 colonies coming together. look where we are today. It's the exact same thing pretty much, but on a larger scale. I honestly believe it's this or extinction.

I have to say the only person here offering any argument against my plan is hippie hunter, but it's my opinion that his reasons he gives for it not working are not strong enough for it not to work. They are reasons it will be difficult, long, enduring, and challenging, but they are not reasons why it would fail.

I'm gald for people to put ofrth opposing views though, so I can get different angles and new angles for convincing. When i go to college I plan to hand this over to some professors, mainly sociologist professors. i plan to be an economist working for the government, and the only reason I'm picking that field is to build a resume to become a political advisor within the next 15 years. i have a lot of creative solutions for the world's problems, and our leaders aren't ever coming up with anything new. They just bicker over the same issues. i really want to get out there and find a candidate who will be brave enough to say

"this is what needs to be done in order to fix that problem and i will do this"

I wish I could sit down with Barrack Obama. i think specifically him, because of the way he's viewed as fresh and new, I could really help this guy get elected, and help him do an amazing job. My ideas are outside of the box, and they would compliment a fresh face really well.

And in democracy that group speaks out and makes people feel guilty, and they can convince people to their point of view. Look at the treatment of gays in America. 4 years ago they were going to prison in the state formerly governed by George D.W. Bush. A few months ago Bush congratulate Dick Cheney's lesbain daughter on her motherhood and lesbian parenthousehold.

If Bush stood up and said he wanted to execute gays, do you think it would actually happen? no it wouldn't. Voters wouldn't stand for it, and gays would overwhlemingly vote for the opposition tipping the scale the other way. That's how it works. Politicians desperately fight for as big a portion of every group of voters they can get. Democrats are always trying to make ground on religous voters, and Republicans are careful not to offend seculars.

You trust government way too much. If a world government starts taking away liberties and rigging elections you won't have anywhere to run or hide.

You offer an interesting premise, Spider-Bite. It would be an ideal place to be in but, as you concurred, the implementation of it would be extremely difficult to the point of near-impossible.

no ****. that's why I oppose those things. But i still have to support having a government otherwise there would be anarchy which is a far worse alternative. And if were going to have a government I might as well support it doing good things instead of bad.

If i placed the kind of trust you think I place, i would support a dictatorship. I oppose it because democracy is the only thing that keeps them in check.

Democracy has its limitations because most people are idiots.

Bush won twice. TWICE!

One world government is a scary idea. I don't like the idea that I can't escape a government that goes in the wrong direction. Democracy doesn't mean that corporations, the media, and politicians will stop manipulating and exploiting the public.

Unfortunately, before he could tell anyone about his idea to end all wars forever, the Earth was destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

once, and the voters learned from their mistake, BECAUSE of democracy. Democracy is how people learn, because the opposing viewpoints are allowed to be heard and voted for. The country made a mistake and learned from it.

What was Bush's biggest mistake? Going to war with ANOTHER country. You say world peace is scary? How is it any less scary than what we got now? not to mention, by using social programs to desegregate the world, you cause exposure which promotes tolerance and acceptance.

Imagine a classroom with 10 students.

one of the students look like this

another one wears a hat like this

and another kid dresses like this

and so on. nobody will be the loner left out different from everybody, because everybody will be different. This generation of children will grow up becoming freinds with so many different kinds of people. Diversity will be everywhere. it will promote mass acceptance and tolerance. We will be united, because we will all have people we care about in each group. This is the ONLY possible way to prevent annihilation of our species. Why do you assume that everybody wants to kill you? And it's not like it's that easy to escape the government now. if it was why would anybody choose to live under oppressive regimes. Why did the sh.ites tolerate Saddam? Because escaping is next to impossible anyways with seperate governments. Do you have thousands of dollars saved up to get you from here to another country and lay down rent and escrow the day you get there? Do you have a place waiting for you already?

This is a positive alternative. The universe is huge and vast, yet we seperate ourselves by petty maps, borders, and oceans. they are irrelevant in the scheme of things. Why does it matter what side we live on? it's still the same planet.

Not to mention it's kind of selfish not to want to offer prosperity, freedom, and economic prosperity to the oppressed and poverish nations of the world. Remember the talk about Darfur? Well imagine if Darfur joined up with us. No more starvation. No more Sudaneese with their ethnic cleansing. Just because they live on a different continent doesn't mean they don't deserve prosperity.

And you forget something. right now at this instance me and you? We are now part of the media. how many people visit this website a day? ideas and viewpoints are shared through democracy. Voices are heard.

No offense Spider bite, but you sound like the guy at the homeless hostel that used to sell magic beans. This won't ever happen. Pretty ideas, but no real value.

Get a job.

In order to achieve world peace...we'd have to start the world over...and a one world government isn't exactly starting over. And the only way to start over...is for some natural disaster to wipe us all out...or war...and I don't like either scenario.

Good ideas Spider-Bite but then again, Goverments are to stupid to see the goodness in this and the ammount of actual CHANGE it would set.

Technically twice, enough people voted for him the first time in order for him to win

I'd vote for Spider-Bite if I could. Regardless of the arduous task of implementation, he has the right idea.

Europe will once again control the world,as it did in the past.Canada peacefully merges with the USA,the combined forces of the USA and Canada turns Mexico into a terriory, where bombs and experiments are tested.Europe brings back the Russian state,Africa is left to extintion.

One world govt. does not equal peace and freedom.
One world govt.=You will comply...everywhere.

Nor is a 1 world government. Just hunch.

That's like saying the 13 colonies would never become the United States of America, or the South would never unite with North after the civil war. The universe is huge and infinite. We seperate ourselves by petty oceans? What's so signifigant about what side of the border somebody lives on? They are meaningless, and irrelevant.

Eventually the human race will realize just as they realized the earth is not flat. I'm not the only person on this planet who desires world peace, and that is hope. Other people eventually will choose to do what's necessary to make it happen, out of fear of the alternative.
