Democracy has its limitations because most people are idiots.
Bush won twice. TWICE!
once, and the voters learned from their mistake, BECAUSE of democracy. Democracy is how people learn, because the opposing viewpoints are allowed to be heard and voted for. The country made a mistake and learned from it.
One world government is a scary idea. I don't like the idea that I can't escape a government that goes in the wrong direction. Democracy doesn't mean that corporations, the media, and politicians will stop manipulating and exploiting the public.
What was Bush's biggest mistake? Going to war with ANOTHER country. You say world peace is scary? How is it any less scary than what we got now? not to mention, by using social programs to desegregate the world, you cause exposure which promotes tolerance and acceptance.
Imagine a classroom with 10 students.
one of the students look like this
another one wears a hat like this
and another kid dresses like this
and so on. nobody will be the loner left out different from everybody, because everybody will be different. This generation of children will grow up becoming freinds with so many different kinds of people. Diversity will be everywhere. it will promote mass acceptance and tolerance. We will be united, because we will all have people we care about in each group. This is the ONLY possible way to prevent annihilation of our species. Why do you assume that everybody wants to kill you? And it's not like it's that easy to escape the government now. if it was why would anybody choose to live under oppressive regimes. Why did the sh.ites tolerate Saddam? Because escaping is next to impossible anyways with seperate governments. Do you have thousands of dollars saved up to get you from here to another country and lay down rent and escrow the day you get there? Do you have a place waiting for you already?
This is a positive alternative. The universe is huge and vast, yet we seperate ourselves by petty maps, borders, and oceans. they are irrelevant in the scheme of things. Why does it matter what side we live on? it's still the same planet.
Not to mention it's kind of selfish not to want to offer prosperity, freedom, and economic prosperity to the oppressed and poverish nations of the world. Remember the talk about Darfur? Well imagine if Darfur joined up with us. No more starvation. No more Sudaneese with their ethnic cleansing. Just because they live on a different continent doesn't mean they don't deserve prosperity.
And you forget something. right now at this instance me and you? We are now part of the media. how many people visit this website a day? ideas and viewpoints are shared through democracy. Voices are heard.
