I hate this mentality of Movie X deserved to make X Money. It doesn't work that way. No movie deserves money. They simply make money or not, and how bankable they are is determined by the viewers.

The only reason Venom passed Wonder Woman is because Venom made serious bank in China. Unlike Venom, Wonder Woman had a rather tepid response/box office performance in China(still did far better than almost any Star Wars movie released in that region though). I knew Venom would make quite a lot money in the Middle Kingdom since Marvel movies regardless of what studios makes them does really well there but never in a million years did I expect it be the second highest grossing superhero film behind right behind Infinity War.

It made more money and passed it, what difference does it make where the money came from? I could say the only reason Venom didn't pass it sooner is because WW made serious bank in NA. Venom beat WW in other big regions like France, Germany, South Korea and Japan as well. NA was WW's stronghold and China was Venom's.

I just saw this and wow.. It was.. Bad. I mean the movie itself was meh, Tom Hardy was good so I give him props on that, some of the camera work was ok. But Venom was horrid, the script was bad, the CG was bad. Honestly if this was titled anything other than Venom it would have tanked at the box office.

I can only assume people went to see this based off the name Venom. This just gives Sony more ammo to just make **** because people just like to eat **** I suppose.
