Venom Venom Rotten Tomatoes Thread

I'm getting tired of the "it's not as bad critics say". I dont care about the level of "badness". If it's half as bad as critics say, it's still bad.

Yeah, I hate that phrase. If people really think other critics are wrong, they will be firm in saying so. Classic films like Blade Runner and Once Upon a Time in the West were disliked by critics, but their supporters where very vocal about them being wrong. "Not as bad as critics say" doesn't tell us anything. So it is merely Ghost Rider bad instead of The Spirit bad then? How's that supposed to make me feel better? It still means it sucks.

Level of badness does matter. Something like Fan4stic cannot be salvaged. But something not as bad potentially can be (I don't have any examples off hand though). Also, what makes the movie bad matters to me. There are plenty of bad movies I enjoy, like The Room or something like that I love because it is bad in a way that is entertaining. On the other hand, something like X-Men Origins: Wolverine was just bad in a non-entertaining way. It's all about tastes. People's differ. I seem to see you asking for a lot of absolutes in general. Like, admit this movie is bad, it shouldn't exist, etc. If that is your opinion, that is fine. But it's far from an absolute.

LOL, 29% at Rotten Tomatoes, forget about it, I'm going to wait for the digital release.

Bad is bad. Entertaining or not, i'm not paying to see anything bad in theaters. I think i have higher standards than that.

Which again, is cool You do you. But once again, not everyone looks at things the way you do. You sort of need to recognize that. As noted in my prior post, there are people like me that can find enjoyment in watching a bad movie and laughing at how bad it is. You skipping a trash movie is not anymore right/wrong than me watching a trash movie openly. The difference here is I am not asking people to go my way or the highway.

If the movie is bad, I would love for it to be "Troll 2" or "The Room" level bad. I need a new drinking game movie for weekends.

I will be the first guy to tell you that I never laughed more watching a superhero movie than Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. That movie is abysmal, but soooooooooooooo hilarious. I would never call that a good movie. But it's a movie I can watch when I am in the mood for trash cinema. I am hoping Venom is better than that, but I would prefer it to be GR2 than GR. I just found the 1st GR movie bad in a generic and boring way. At least GR2 was insanity.

The quality is too good these days on comic book movies to support a bad one it your defense is "it's not that bad" then yeah I'll wait for it on stream

Lol. I agree. If you ask "is it good? Is it worth seeing it in the theaters with food prices/ticket prices/and annoying audience experience?"

If the answer is no...then don't try to coax people into the theater by talking like a politician "it's not that bad... it's not about quality... it's about the performances... yada, yada, yada"

Come on people.

Yup. Ain't seeing this in cinemas. The score is even lower than i anticipated lmao

If the drops are massive, Sony should really think about passing on a sequel regardless, because that would certainly be indicative of audiences not liking what they saw. They aren't getting a big opening weekend twice, if people hated the first once (see Justice League after BvS and numerous other examples). Sony being Sony probably would press forward anyways and then lose a bunch of money on Venom 2, but they probably shouldn't unless Venom 1 makes so much money (say $500 million+ worldwide) where they can afford to drop a couple of hundred million and still be profitable.
Exactly

Coming from the directors of Crank, I can totally see why GR2 turned out the way it did. That movie was pretty insane.

Watched the Laymen gaming review on Youtube and they're trashing the Movie. But they are also looking forward to the sequel. ='D "A wonderful Train Wreck That You Cant Help But Love"

Is it Mortal Kombat (1995) bad? Cause thats a bad movie that I thoroughly endorse and love. Lol

I always found the original 1995 Mortal Kombat film to be bad in an enjoyable way. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was just unbearable to me.

Sounds like a divisive film.
I hope that I like it.
I would consider something like Man of Steel or The Last Jedi to be divisive, where people either loved or hated it. Most of the feedback for this film has been pretty consistent so far: it's not the worst movie ever, but it's not very good either.

Well, I had to break it to my kids that the movie was not something we were going to see in the theaters. My boy said, "Daddy, that's okay. let's just save our money for Spider-Verse".

I may watch it on Redbox or something, but when your trip to the movies involves a family of four, then you tend to be picky about what you see! Also, is everyone takes 4 people to this movie to "try it out", then it'll be a 200 million opening weekend success story that lets Sony know that we'll all blindly support a crap movie (whether good-bad or bad-bad), and that ain't happenin' in my house!
