Venom Venom: The Last Dance

Wasn't there a quote from an exec that Knull was going to be around for a while?

Kevin Feige announced a Marvel Studios Blade movie for the MCU five years ago. It's 2024 and still no Blade movie. *Shrugs*

So coming in a bit on the lower end then domestically. We will see what total ends up being cause it looked like he was running strong internationally

It's definitely stronger internationally.

I think having seen these, I want to say I would rank them

Venom Let There Be Carnage
Venom The Last Dance
Venom

Venom is entertaining in almost of them. So it's a wash on those fronts. I think in general, LTBC is the most fun.

My biggest gripe with that one is honestly Carnage's symbiote and Cletus don't have an interesting dynamic between each other and Carnage's symbiote never feels like a character the way Venom does. I do wish more effort was there to make them more interesting

TLD has some actually effective emotional beats
It also has probably the worst overall plot and plot consistency. But I rank it higher than Venom cause the slow scenes in this one are actually engaging.

Venom I rank last mostly because the point between Eddie being introduced and when he breaks into the lab and gets Venom is cliche and becomes tedious to sit through. It picks up immensely once Venom is there. I in general recommend just...starting at the lab scene on rewatches lol!!!

Carnage hardly does anything in Venom 2. And he only fights Venom a grand total of once in the film. It's not all that exciting.

The issue with the over dependence on CGI today is perfectly demonstrated on characters likes Venom and Carnage. Carnage in particular should be viscerally terrifying to an audience. I always thought of the xenomorph from the Alien films as a good example of how Carnage should make an audience feel. A film with Carnage as the antagonist should also be an R rating too.

So while I enjoyed Venom 2, I was just as disappointed because Carnage at full potential and viciousness should be unforgettable.

It's still hilarious to me that Kraven is the movie they put the R-rating with when the one fans were clamoring to get an R-rating was Venom.

Seriously, how does a Kraven movie get an R-rating before a Venom movie with Carnage? And Venom 2 got the one F-bomb in there, so you'd think Sony would go all out and just make it rated R!

So when I went to CinemaCon and they showed this pre-recorded video of Aaron Taylor Johnson introducing the Kraven footage, "The question everyone's been asking: Is Kraven going to be Rated R? *EXPLETIVE* yeah!" The thought going through my head was, "Yeah, no one has been asking that." A significant amount of the Kraven footage was how violent and bloody it was, so they are clearly trying to make that the hook for this film.

CinemaScore's system still makes little sense to me if B- is one of the worst scores to have. Feels like it should be more like a C- for this film.

Just saying that in school B- is still a more than passing grade. It's a score your parents will not love but it's not going to send you to remedial levels or cause you to redo a whole year.

Feels like some ppl have been waiting for 8 years for a Venom movie to undeperform, and im not talking about just here on these forums. Are you ok? Does your life feel less empty now?

Anyway, watched the movie last night... it was ok, didnt go in expecting much and had fun.
Third act was pretty entertaining, the stuff in the middle not so much. Better than LTBC one for sure.

Its because most movie goers aren't really that critical when giving these scores. So most of the scores are probably letter A for the simple fact that they enjoyed the film and scoring a film they just saw isn't that serious. So its not that common to hand out scores like B- or a D unless they really had a bad time watching a movie (Joker Folie a Deux).

According to the founder Ed Mintz:

"A's generally are good, B's generally are shaky, and C's are terrible.

That is quite low and it would struggle to hit $110 million. Such a big drop from the first two movies, which both crossed the $200 million mark.

Worldwide, its not hitting $500 million. This year's box office continues to be underwhelming.
