Have Riddler discover who Batman is and forge a partnership with Black Mask since the latter is supposed to hate Bruce Wayne more than Batman.

I think Catwoman can also fit in since she and Black Mask had stories together.

They had stories together because they were both based around the East End of Gotham. If you want Black Mask to be a significant threat to all of Gotham, then his horizons would need to be expanded beyond Selina Kyle's scratching posts.

I was discussing this with a buddy of mine the other day, and even though Nolan said he wouldn't do Mr. Freeze I think if Bill Nighy played Freeze it could be really interesting in the Nolan Universe. On another note with the dark tone and the whole Mafia of Gotham thing, the Ventriloquist and Scarface could be an interesting avenue.

I have a feeling though that Nolan is going to go down the thief/robber path and pick a combination of either Riddler, Catwoman, and Penguin. I wouldn't be disappointed but I would like to see some characters that have not yet been done on film.

It depends; doesn't really have to matter if they're both in the same movie. I mean, in Batman Begins, they were able to pull off 3 villians, including a minor cameo of Zsas. It all just depends how you put the story together and who plays their role; I mean, if it were me, I would have Catwoman being one of the more important secondary characters to the story, and Oswald being just there. Maybe just along the lines of importance, so Penguin being as important as, if on a scale, somewhere in between Carmine Falcone in BB and Scarecrow in TDK.

But anyway, to compete with TDK to be an even better film and go along with the fluidity of it's prior achievement, I would say go with Selina Kyle/Catwoman not as a villain, but a neutral character in the story; perhaps either helping or being in the way, like she always is. LOL And as for the main villain, perhaps Riddler or Black Mask. Would love to see Gotham eating itself to shreds as the Joker said, with more theatrical crimes on the street, and seeing this high ranked morbid war between the normal guys (Falcone, Maroni, Cobblepot, ect.) and the freaks, such as Black Mask, the Joker (if possible; doubt it), Two-Face (sorry, but he has a thing for looking dead in the comics and coming back), Bane, Killer Croc, Zsas, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile Riddler slowly rises and sort of orchestrates them together, as he did in Hush.

I agree. And that's true as well. LOL And that's too true; damn, you're hitting all the right notes buddy. t: But honestly, I could see him being in the series played by Jeremy Renner. There are a few different routes though to getting him out of the death penalty. I mean, there could be some corruption with Blackgate and could easily slide easily through trial; and since he was hired by the Russian and had some affiliation with Ronald Marshall, he easily has enough friends with money to make bail. Or perhaps an escape from the GPD with the help of some corruption from Maroni and either Ramirez or Wartz to cover his back; after all they were able to get away with kidnapping Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes. And of course, if someone else who was ahead of Arkham Asylum, say Jeremiah Arkham or Hugo Strange, could help him claim insanity on trial and transfer him to the loony bin. LOL Like I said though, many routes to go.

Moving along, I say the third movie will feature an appearance by just about every major villan whether bit part, cameo or major role; Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Bane, ETC. Even The Ventriloquist. I think we're in for a really fantastic third act with lots of cool easter eggs...and nolan will completely pull it off
