Plus, I think that Whedon would be the only one who can do it without making it stupid.

Whedon approaches it from the point of a fan which is why his work is so good. If they really are gonna do an X4 he's the only person i'd like to see directing it. Hell I think he'd even do a better job than singer

I did like the visor idea for a long time but after 40+ years it's a gimmick that's gotten tired. If it's just the look that matters they can give him a visor that has IR and telescopic vision. Maybe even a focusing system for long range sniping. That would allow him to keep the control and the traditional appearance.

I personally think Whedon gets put on a pedestal he doesn't deserve to be on.

LOL! I somewhat agree. Especially with this arc, people act like he's exploring new gorund, he's really not, this whole Cyke thing has been done before. But tis still a really good read.

Well, I think there are some fans that treat him like a mutant amalgamation of Stan Lee and Jesus, which is going too far. But I think he's quite talanted.

I hate that now he can control it that's bull crap

Really, I don't think it takes much away from the character. He still has about 50 other things to be whiny about. His mom's dead, his dad's a space pirate who he never sees, he was tortured as a child by a nigh-immortal Dr. Mengele wannabe, and in his early teen years he was a male prostitute. Besides, the whole "he can't control it" thing hasn't been an issue in a while.

Yes, talanted indeed.

Yeah, but I think he comes off so Godly b/c he was writing around the same time as Milligan and Claremont. Not too hard to "not suck" with those two as competition. :o

That would be cool.

I don't think they ever stated that Scott was a male prostitute; it was just hinted at.

As you can see, with the era that has brought Bucky and Jason Todd back from the dead and a semi-resurection of Uncle Ben it's only a matter of time that Jean comes back...AGAIN!

Plus, I think that Whedon would be the only one who can do it without making it stupid.

Yea but all those characters have just been brought back for the first time, not Jean she' already been there done that like half a dozen times.

When did they do the male prostitute bit. He was with Jack of Diamonds when he left the orphanage and Xavier came for him not to long after that. Xavier rescued him from Jack. So when could this have occurred.

This makes sense. He can still be called Cyclops, his visor will become part of his costume.

It also upgrades his formidability at a time when so many other heroes and villains are getting significant power upgrades. Imagine yourself as a foe of someone who can hit you with a blast that can pulverize a tank from 2 miles away... in the dark.

Cyclops should have

Infrared
Night-Vision
Telescopic
X-Ray

and anyother vision you can think of..

I think it's a great progression and it's about time they got someone with the balls to really make it good story. If it were a lesser writer than Whedon doing this I'd be worried, but it isn't and so I'm not.

And if it gets retconned in a few years, well...I don't want that to happen obviously, but after the rape of Morrison -- not to mention the amount of history that Marvel has managed to conveniently forget within the last couple of years -- I think I'm pretty numb to Marvel and its loose retcon policies by now. Some people here might be okay with significant stories never having any lasting effect whatsoever, so hey...at least they'll be happy.

A friend of mine will be happy that Cyclops is getting a new costume. He hates the current one for some reason

Thanks a lot for the unavoidable spoiler.:whatever:

Anyway, this only strengthens my already bizarre and mighty love for Whedon. He's been helping Cyke's lame-o character a lot, as much as Morrison did with the whole Emma relationship. It's the perfect time to do this whole visorless thing, too, as Cyke will never appear in any future X-movies, so Joe Q won't have to push everything back to the norm for the benefit of the mass market. I hope it sticks.

I do love all the Astonishing costumes, but the only ones as cool as them are the Quitely ones. Maybe it's appropriate Cyke goes back to it, as the Morrison-era suits were statement clothing, not superhero costumes. Plus, the Astonishing costume would look kind of silly with no visor there.:o Hopefully Whedon will write a humorous scene with Cyke putting on his Astonishing costume, realizing it looks silly without the visor, and having to switch clothes.:o

Plus, this costume change just makes Whedon's big attempt to jerk-off Morrison's run even better. I love you Whedon:o

But the Quitely one doesn't really fit in with the other costumes of the team

I think it kinda fits with Kitty's. At first I thought that it was Kitty's, ie a variation on the original X-Men "training" uniform.
