Visual Effects of X-Men 3

I realized that too. I was sitting in the theatre at that part and thought, wow, it sure gets dark fast in SF! :D
I think everyone who's seen thought the same.

i thought the wiring effects were pretty bad, looked too obvious that they were on wires.
I agree. Some of the wire work was not great. Storm in the danger room and Beast looked like he was on wires in the final battle.

no offense.. but since when has anyone seen a person really fly? i would assume if you really ever did see a person fly, one would think they were on strings....

I wonder if I'll think that after I watch Superman Returns. I doubt it. :)

I do it all the time.....in my dreams.:p :D

Some of the flight just didn't look great. Angel looked great, Storm tornado looked and her flight in the final battle was great as was Magneto's short moment on the bridge. The rest just didn't flow as well for me.

Well, form the trailers the flying looks a little matrixish to me...I mean, it's not a big complaint but you can tell.

meh.. his came already ruins it.. WAY too heavy

Anyone think that they're doing the new special effects and adding them to the movie right now as we speak? And then putting them on the DVD?

...I'm so depressed.

i doubt it.. has a movie EVER done that?

LOTR? I mean, the extended cut did add some footage and effect shots. But I doubt Fox is going to spend money to do that for the DVD release considering they are not pulling in LOTR numbers.

well adding effects to cut scenes is one thing.. but adding effects to whats already there, another

Unfortunately we will never get those effects, which I have to say are pretty darn nifty. If Fox would have gotten their act together and allotted more time for the films production we could have gotten an overall better film. I'm not saying I didn't like the film because it was a good film, but it could have been so much better with some tweaking and refining of the script and would have allowed for some lost opportunities to have been implemented.

meh to be honest most didnt impress me... i like the fire in some, but thats it.. the rest either dont make her look dark enough, or make her demonicly dark.. neither in wich suit dark phoenix.. fire is all that i think would be needed... my guess is the effects company didnt deliver what the studio wanted.. and didnt have enough time to get it right. no biggie in my opinion though, becahse i thought jean was frightening as hell without it

Well, from the article, I do not think that Ratner is at fault for having no Phoenix effects in the movie, although others feel differently. From the article, it sounds like he and this company planned to have the effects in it, but when the fx company realized the timeframe they were given to create this stuff, pretty sure the timeframe came from FOX, they realized they could not do it all.

So now maybe some will lay off Ratner....

And by the way .... these are sweet! Thanks Retro!

true, i agree that the studio is completely to blame. but i wonder if ratner was just more willing to bend over backwards for the studio. on the other hand, we do have ratner to thank for taking the helm of this project. who knows, with FOX's eagerness to get this film out to the theatres, they could have hired a worse director, but i doubt a better one than ratner.

wow! i started 2 hate the movie even more plus after reading the new q/a interview by zak penn. why fox, why? we x-fans got HUSTLED.

Isn't "Smoke" from MK?
Anyway, here's another reason to weep over lost potential. :(

Looks like Phoenix was originally supposed to bring down the bridge? Or did I assume wrong...?
