Visual Effects of X-Men 3

this whole thing kind of blows

and these images are just salt in the wound

i hope Marvel moves X-Men to a different studio and takes better care of their characters

I wish someone from Marvel could answer fan questions

A little manip I did of another concept picture:

It does!

Darn, is there something stopping us from saving these? I really want something for my desktop...

...and I'm tempted to post a pic for Zak and Simon and ask if this was scripted earlier....

If you go to the thread where Retro initially posted them, they are all there and you can save them from there, or from this thread. You just cant from the site.

And moop, that looks good... execpt her face looks to blue.

Wish we had this.

Ahh, what could have been. Instead, they settled with the demon face.

lol, I can't remember if someone said this on this thread or on one of the others, but it was something like 'we got Emily Rose on steroids.' I couldn't stop laughing when I read that

Mulling these over still, I'm rather fond of this one as well. I know earlier I said I preferred the more 'tangible' looking Phoenix Effect - and I'm still sticking to that - but for the Effect working on massive objects over distances, something subtle like this would have been nice IMHO - just make it a flame color and I'm sold.

I love the way the Force is moving outward like a pulse.

And no mention of why the Colossus effects sucked ass?

ummm you do realise they had a really short time to do one of the hardest digital FX... and make it move? X2 had alot more time, a short scene, and little movement

That's cold... but hilarious!!

I gave The Last Stand 3 out of 5 stars, or 6/10, but it had the potential to be what ROTK was to the LOTR films.

But why even put the character in the movie if it hinders them so much in their rushed schedule?

If Colossus wasn't in this movie, we would all be complaining about that.

Alot of times when a writer puts things into a script, they go about it not fully knowing how much time and money it would cost to do it on-screen....I guess this ultimately because part of the reason a few things had to be taken out or shortened...

I'm not sure whether it was a question of money moreso than time.

With more time, they surely could have added a few more things, such as Colossus vs. Juggernaut.

My guess is time - they had a HUGE budget.

I'm sure the Golden Gate Bridge sequence must've took a huge chunk out of that budget. They did have to recreate a part of the bridge, and that couldn't have been cheap by any association of the word.

I agree - they did a really nice job of it (IMHO at least) - so at least it wasn't totally wasted.

Reading the article on page one though....I really question some of the calls on the FX. I mean, making the entire living room CGI for the Jean vs. Xavier sequence??? What was the point of that?

I'm not sure...It seems that the Colossus/Juggernaut thing was scrapped very early and was replaced with the Kitty/Juggernaut thing. I'm not sure whether one would've been cheaper or taken less time to do, but we haven't gotten all of the facts on that to be sure...

I would've been fine if they didn't have a Colossus/Juggernaut fight in the movie. Juggernaut's role in the movie was fine, but I just think that Colossus was a little bit underused in the film. Showing him fight Juggernaut would've been nice (although seen before in other films), but I don't think it would've been necessary...There are other things that they could've done with Pete..
