What I'd like to see in the characters we've got so far:

Clark more focused on this -

supermanreturns17.jpg

Superman more focused on this -

supermanreturns31.jpg

Lex more focused on this -

supermanreturns27.jpg

More moments between these two (i.e. sans cape) -

Metropolis' underworld in general doing more of this -

Originally, I thought that Darkseid was too "out there" for a Superman film, but then I thought 'forget that, I wanna see some kickass fighting"

I don't care whether or not Singer wants to use him or not, he deserves to be in the film. And for those who say Darkseid should only appear in a New Gods film, that doesn't make any sense. Have Darkseid go up against the boy in blue and if his character is really that popular with the audience (which I'm sure he will be) have a spinoff film.

*koff*Justice League*koff*

That's the trouble with Darkseid - you bring him into the Superman movie franchise, you just as well end the franchise at that. He's that big a menace.

Sound like a plan too me.

Superman has beaten him by himself (S:TAS finale, Legacy). And since Darkseid is such a grand threat, don't introduce all of his minions (Kalibak, Steppenwolf, Furies, Granny, etc.) to nusance Superman. Just have Darkseid lead an army of parademons. The world's armed forces can handle those and that leaves Darkseid for Superman.

Therein lies the problem. Recall in "Legacy" that even after Superman bashed up Darkseid, Darkseid still had an entire planet at his command, (and to do any justice at all to the New Gods you'd HAVE to have his minions involved somehow - heck, just to have Intergang you'd have to). He could have ordered Superman's death then and there for what Kal-El did to him, and it'd be done; Parademons don't even inspire that level of fear in the populace. And if Superman HAD killed him, the whole of Apokolips would probably have had Kal-El's head just out of retribution. So even besting Darkseid in one-on-one combat, Superman achieves nothing because the threat still stands, which is part of what gives the climax of "Legacy" its punch. And when Superman gets to the point where he's faced a danger so powerful that him still standing doesn't mean that he's won, there's really nothing else you can do with him on a personal level that will make him seem any more heroic - which is also probably one of the reasons why "Legacy" was the series finale. At that point you just as well team him up with other superheroes, just for the chemistry and conflict of interacting with these other disparate personality types like Batman or Flash to keep him interesting.

And another thing: I'd be more inclined to think that if extraterrestrial invaders had sufficient technology and the motivation to engage the sum total of Earth's military might, we wouldn't stand a f***ing chance - let alone them being under the command of the likes of Darkseid - and THAT would actually be something worth seeing, IMO: Parademons withdrawing not because the odds turn against them, but simply because they're told to; put them on the absolute verge of destroying the Earth, nothing can possibly stop them, and then in the last few minutes they just stop what they're doing and fly away when they could very easily finish the job.

That's what makes Darkseid and his forces so interesting though. When Superman beats him, you know that it truly isn't the end and that Darkseid will return, bigger and badder than ever.

No matter what he does, Superman can't change the fact that Darkseid is a god with an entire planet of loyal minions at his beckon call.

But just imagine it:

Chaos everywhere. Screams fill the air. Fire illuminates the dark skies.

This is the backdrop for an epic battle between Darkseid and Superman that take them both around the city, beneath the ground to above the tallest building.

Its from Brainiac Attacks (the DTV)

That was the worst ever, that top off my year.
Bad :super: film and now this (Brainiac Attacks).:whatever:
Voice actors sucks and the story arch was terrible.
Timm (the Man) drop the ball with that one. :csad:

I never saw it and based on all of the reviews floating around the internet and your comments, I guess thats one movie I won't be picking up at Blockbuster.

Well thanks anyway. I just wanted to know the line that was said...

I'm soooo happy... oh wait, no I'm not :D

Doesn't Mongul has a longer history with Supes than Darkseid?

If it was a straight choice between the two, I'd opt for Mongul.

Darkseid is far superior compared to Mongul.

Mongul is actually more of a Superman villain, though. Darkseid is a JLA threat, so him being put in a Superman movie would result in him being powered down.

Brainiac and Bizzaro would kick ass in the sequel. Talk about upping the ante it would make people forget about the boring Superman Returns!
