Visualizing A Superman Reboot: Pictures Welcome

Singer could do it again sure... so long as he's hand-given a script that is packed with action and retains some of the nice dramatic elements of SR... he has to be put on a leash sort of in a way like in X-2 cuz then you end up with a great superhero film... X-3 was TOO much on the leash, SR was like letting someone go way too far without reigning them in... so a nice balance needs to be struck like X-2 and that can be done with Singer so long as he has a script that is PACKED WITH TONS OF ACTION... like PUNCHES!!!

Everything but routh, but even he's on the table if a decent replacement were found.

They have to keep Singer. I need to know where he was going with the series....

Yes, keep Singer
Keep Jason
Add powerful villain to get superfights
Make the film tighter, a little shorter
Keep the heart of the story as in SR
And Brandon Routh MUST return, he Is Superman to me now:word:

I want a complete reboot with a new origin - one based on MOS by Byrne and Wolfman ... at least the early parts about Krytpon and Smallville. Maybe throw in some elements from the WB's 'Smallville' like Lionel Luthor so we could see how Lex was molded into the villain he would become. From there, we can do just a touch of 'Birthright' where we see Clark trying to find himself by traveling the world. Following that, we get the Big Superman vs. somebody plot.

I don't care if any of the existing cast return.. honestly. I didn't mind Spacey, he was probably the best thing from SR but there are others that could do a convincing Luthor. Langella could have been an exceptional 'Perry' but the script didn't give him much. I want Perry to be a loud but warm bear of a man with a savvy sense of the news. I want Jimmy to be a contemporary 21 year old.. not a throwback to the early 60's or 50's.

and I'm sure there is a much better 'Lois' out there somewhere.

Keep... Routh
Change the suit
open neck let the cape hang lose from the back a little
bigger S not on the belt
change his hair from parted on the right as Clark to the left as Superman
get rid of everything else

Only issues I would resolve was the lack of original story, and action. I could tolerate the rest of it..even the suit :)
I hope they get the ball rolling on this soon. I don't care if its a reboot, sequel or what lets get it rolling. I also would prefer if they kept Routh as Superman just to keep some continuity..

I don't think "Harnett?" should be considered for the role but I do think the next Superman film needs a complete recasting especially in the Lois Lane character. Here's what I would like to see:

Supes/Clark = Henry Cavil w/ some serious muscle
Lois = Rachel Weis or Robin Tunney
Lex = Hell lets just get Clancy Brown
Braniac = Hugo Weaving

just to name a few

harnett...oops

Cavill totally agree...

Lois...I can't take evangeline Lilly out of my head...strong...beautiful..good actress.

Lex..either way...should be famous

Brainiac...William Fichtner all the way...so cool in an "alien like" manner.

Superman: Sooo many choices here. Henry cavill, michael trucco, Brandon routh???

Lois:Zooey Deschanel or Keira Knightley.

Lex: Bruce Willis, or william Fichtner.

Brainiac: No question here for me, Hugo Weaving.

I like your ideas for Lois. Lex, not so much.

I want them all back especially Brandon and Sam.

Angeloz

Agreed, the only issue they need to resolve in a sequel is add a little more action to it. Other than, i would happy with another movie i could enjoy as much as SR.

BTW Angeloz, how you doing, havent spoke to you in a while.

Same as always. I hope you're alright.

To me "Superman Returns" was a re-introduction/introduction film. If they follow it up the universe is there to play in. So it's wait and see.

I'm curious as to whether Singer realizes how split fandom is over his Superman film and if that will influence what he does in the sequel?

Lois was horrible in SR! completely miscast. I am partial to a reboot as well even though I kinda liked SR when it came out. Repeat viewing leaves alot to be desired. I think the world is ready for another origin story if it is done properly. For example:

Have Lex not be the main bad guy

Use part of S:TAS braniac origin as a counter balance to Superman

Add some xenophobia to the mix. I never understood why the public so quickly accepted Superman as a genuine hero. I think there would be some initial apprehension with his sudden appearance.

Rose McGowyn would make for a good Lois Lane.

In fact, this is an important point I think should be considered as a part of Superman origin.

Isn't that more Spider-Man or X-Men though (i.e. distrust)? 'Cos I'll admit I loved that they liked that he was back. Why should him disappearing cause distrust? Especially if he saved people when he came back. Or even first appears (though strangeness can be an argument). But not always (people could think it a trick of some kind until he reveals otherwise). Because if there was a flying man here I'd think it a trick and not an alien.

Yes, most people would think it is a trick and would be skeptical of this supposed heros' true motivations. Why would a hero try to trick us? The other thing you mentioned Angeloz is really one of the problems I had with SR. The mythos of Superman in current film continuity is he being a "god-like" figure with a myriad of religious undertones pointing to this fact. Yet a typical human reaction was never portrayed by the general public in the movie. I was under the impression that they would not have given Lois a pulitzer if her article didn't resonate with the readers. Yet, rather than showing resentment against Superman (whom abandoned them...nobody wants to be abandoned by their savior) they welcome him back with thunderous applause. I thought it would have been much more enjoyable to see Superman struggling to regain their trust. That to me is a lot more interesting than the aggregate seven minutes that was alloted to Jason's allergies.

Who know. But I would love to hear his reaction on this. We never heard him saying anything about it since SR was in theater, so I hope he will at least mention it. I really want to hear his take on fans's criticism.
