Visualizing A Superman Reboot: Pictures Welcome

Yeah I'm starting to like the sound of Darkseid as well, it could make for one of the greatest onscreen battles of all time... if done right :(

Few things I'll like to see in the reboot:

I would give an ripley scott Alien type feel to it. Not creepy but grounded in reality. A muted color palete, a significant threat, and great fights.

Why do you guys assume that it is going to be a trillogy. The last three super man movies have sucked hard. WB knows that they need to come out swinging next time or people are going to stay home. I also hear that they will be pouring millions into the project, seeing that they are making less films.

That'd be kinda funny, since pouring millions into the project is part of what got them into this situation to begin with, and that was BEFORE Singer was involved.

Yeah, I want something iike Birthright too, except without the fake Kryptonian invasion crap. I've always hated the white suit/crystaline Krypton from the old movies... that's never been how i've visualized it.

no homage to the donner movies. sorry a helicopter and lois lane inside is a homage to S:TM.
we can be more original then that.

Well, then, that would pretty much dismiss any scene of any kind involving any sort of aircraft. Heck, why don't we just say that Kal-El was teleported to Earth as a baby instead of putting him in a spaceship? :oldrazz:

Superman like this. Not evil, just super-p*ssed and afterwards displaying some full force action like we've never seen him!

Please, the only people that would associate that with Donner are the ones that in their late 30s or Donner fans.

No one in the newer generations would even recognize the similar scenes.

Sorry but no, it's Superman fans that wouldn't associate it with Donner. It's everybody else who will...because EVERYBODY has seen Superman. For many people in the "newer generations" Donner Superman is all they know.

Who's art is that/what comic is it from?

Lex Luthor: Man of Steel.

My favorite Superman comic. The next panel is even cooler. Superman is seen through Lex's eyes so he is always much darker looking. The whole comic is dark in the right way.

What makes you give this absurd statement? Everybody has seen Superman? No, not in the least. They might know of him, recognize Reeve, or even seen some bits of the movie itself. But I'd hardly say these past generations have seen the entire film, much less recognize a scene in it.

Donner's films are ancient now. And as a genre classic as it may be, it's not like kids these days grow up on that movie, like say E.T.

the same could be said for SRs homages. teh copyed dialoge.
but it was still dumb

Superman is one of those movies almost everybody has seen. It's like Star Wars and Back to the Future. It's also constantly on television. I see Superman I and II on TV almost once a month.

I'd say chances are good that somebody has seen Superman versus being somebody who has watched SR or read the comics to know where the homages come from.

E.T. however is one of the movies I have NEVER seen on TV. I actually have never seen E.T. at all either and neither have any of my friends that I ask. We are all mid 20s so your point makes sense there.

I never see The Original Superman on tv. It should come out. Jaws is always on.

I also believe it showed a nice relationship between Lex and Bruce Wayne that I would like reciprocated on screen.

I think there's no reason to think that Singer wouldn't deliver a Superman sequel equivalent to how X2 was to X1.

Xmen 1 was in intro film- and did it great. The action was weak, but it got better with the second one.

Similiarly, for my two cents, the only real thing missing from SR was a strong villain to bring out Superman's sense of power. The drama was brilliantly done, imo- but what I hope WB realizes that if every movie is a gamble- (and in a sense it is).... having a filmmaker with Singer's resume is the safest bet around for a sequel to make beaucoup bucks.

I'm still in awe that WB doesn't get that SR COULD have been a SERIOUS boxoffice disaster--- and it wasn't. It was a modest hit---- just like Batman Begins was!!!

Simliarly, just as TDK was able to springboard from the first film, EVERYTHING Singer has said should have totally made WB and fans happy.... he WANTS and INTENDED more action for the sequel.... and had at least TWO (the original writers hinted that there was more than one villain for the sequel at the time they were interviewed) villains planned for the sequel---

What more can anyone ask of Singer to do for a sequel???
He wants to do an action packed sequel with a new villain, and fans (and non-fans) of SR want a new Superman film with more action and a new villain.

Just not a reboot. That's going backwards, even with flashbacks.... not to mention the creative damage of gambling with recasting an unknown.

Singer has a knack for casting unknowns.... but how on earth could WB ASSUME that another actor for a Superman film would have people accepting him right off the bat?

(*If WB wants to use the Hulk 2 example of recasting and rebooting without damage, that doesn't hold water--- because NOBODY thought Eric Bana was the perfect Bruce Banner to begin with! Edward Norton was a lot closer to Banner than Bana... I can't find anyone on the internet who would disagree with that)

Stick with Singer and stick with Routh, imo..... that's the safest bet, if WB cares about stockholders' money....
