Hmmm......
-TAS Superman/Clark Kent
-Corporate/Politician Lex Luthor...weave in the President storyline, with todays political climate, it could strike a note with the audience!
-For the very first time, actually cast a good Lois Lane. Margot Kidder was a chain smoking hag who is more likely to catch the attention of trailer park trashman rather than Superman. Disgusting hag. Watching Kate Bosworth is easy on the eyes, other than that, it's like watching paint dry. Erica Durance is awesome at playing hooker Lois Lane, but not journalist Lois Lane. Teri Hatcher......she was best of all, but come on, Hatcher can easily be topped.
-Both Kents alive, atleast at the start of the film.
-Martha Kent dying instead of Jonathan. I think it would be interesting to see the role reversal, and the impact that Martha had in Clark's life, and Clark coming to grips with his mothers death by once again looking to Jonathan. I took this right out of my own fanfic, in which Martha dies of cancer, along with flashbacks of Clarks childhood memories of his him and Martha, along with a few other moments. Martha's cancer leads to an emotionally charged scene with Jor-El in the FOS, where Kal-El asks for a cure, and Jor-El won't give it to him because that would interfere with mankinds own destiny, and Clark questions what Jor-El is really good for.
-METALLO....the perfect henchman for Lex. It's about time this guy got some screen time. Either Metallo or Parasite, but Metallo first and foremost.
-A character driven film. Some will try to say Returns was, and yes it tried to be, but it sucked. Some let me rephrase. A good character driven film, no, a GREAT character driven film.
- Great action scenes. Like I said, a character driven film first and foremost. Don't cut out the character moments for action scene's. But, the action scene's that are in the film should be amazing, blood pumping, kick ass scene's. For this purpose alone a super villian needs to be present.....Metallo
- The shot from All-Star Superman with Supes relaxing on the cloud, perhaps listening for cries for help.
- One scene from Abrams script I want to see is Superman save a women from getting beat by her husband, flying away with the jerk, and scaring the hell out of him by dropping him from the sky and catching him at the last minute...."You never hit a lady"
-Maggie Sawyer and Dr. Hamiliton.
-Morgan Edge helping Lex Luthor.
-A piece of every Superman media. I know, I'm the anti-Donnerverse guy, but the John Williams theme should be there. TAS Superman/Clark Kent. A raven haired Lana Lang and a black Pete Ross. Another Noel Neill cameo. Or Phyllis Coates.John Shea as Morgan Edge. Gerard Christopher as a reporter at the planet decked out in the doofy Christopher Reeve Clark get-up, getting made fun of by Jimmy Olsen. Christopher should have been in Lois and Clark. I'm sure there are more idea's.
As for the actors themselves, the thing with me and Routh is, I don't know how to judge him honestly. I avoid Routh debates. From what I personally saw, he read Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando's lines and impersonated Reeve physically, which isn't what needs to happen. Christopher Reeve was amazing, but he is dead, and the last thing that needed to happen was to try and clone Reeve's performance and character. This is where the TAS version will help, it's a different take on the character, and in my opinion a better take on the CHARACTER. Let a non-Reeve clone actor try and make the role his own. However, I would Routh a screentest, to see what he alone can do. Henry Cavill, David Boreanaz, Eion Bailey...these are just a few examples. Cavill, in my opinion, has the Superman look down without looking like a Reeve clone, and that is why he should be considered. And he can act his ass off, what else do you friggin want, a guy with the Superman look who might win an oscar one day. Boreanaz, I just love the guy and he just has the hero vibe better than most, which is what Superman is all about. And he has a personality that would be great for a 21st century Clark Kent. And I don't give a damn is he was Angel, I'm not anal about that crap. As long as it isn't an A-lister or a Paul Walker/Josh Hartnett/Brendan Fraser type, I'm cool. Eion Bailey is my dark horse, he is short, which can be corrected with camera work. He looks like an older, tougher Tom Welling, and gasp, he is a good actor.
I've covered Kate Bosworth. Please cast someone better. There out there, you know. Rachel McAdams, Evangeline Lilly, Morena Baccarin(I like raven haired girls), Keri Russell, Eliza Dushku, Elizabeth Banks...just to rattle off a few.
Kevin Spacey. I don't blame him for the horrid Lex, I blame Singer. He would be a great corporate/politician Lex. He really would be, although I prefer Jason Isaacs or Jaquin Phoenix.
Perry White, how about a little R Lee. Ermey, Ray Wise, or if you could nab him at a good cost, Dustin Hoffman. He is getting older, he might be willing for the fun of it.
Jimmy Olsen, I'm going to admit something. I liked Sam Huntington. Let him be himself a little more though.
Jonathan Kent....James Garner.
Martha Kent...Ellen Burstyn....good actress
Metallo....Jason Statham
Jor-El.....Gerard Butler. And not because of 300 damnit, I suggested this before 300 came out and I was blown off. I was all for him or Liam Neeson since 2002, and because Neeson was in Begins, my choice is Butler.
Dr. Hamilition...Brent Spiner
Morgan Edge....John Shea
