That's a classic. Superman is indeed evil's nightmare. Even moreso than Batman.

^ True. He at his best inspires the most honest to goodness hope out of people. Pretty elemental stuff. Singer tried to get at that and succeeded in some ways. Not totally though.

I do think 'the man on the street' element should be preserved. I think it's most powerful if people in Metropolis are truly awed by Superman's presence. It's almost too much to comprehend for some. That in a way is the disguise. no one notices Clark is Supes, cause when they have seen Superman for a fleeting moment it's unreal.

I hope that holds true in future films.

I don't know who they'd cast but I agree with the possibility WB goes after a big name this time around if Routh is out. I made the joke manip of Brad Pitt, but I'm sure if they could get him they'd probably do it. LOL

Ok found the post, just need to find the pic lol.

wEBHEAD....

All but your picture of the Daily Planet building. I think it needs to be smaller.

We have a building here in Syracuse that I think would be an ideal model. I don't know if you've visited here but it's the National Grid (Niagara Mohawk) building downtown.

It was used once in a Blackhawk mini-series as their base of operations. I'll get a better picture of it and post it here sometime next week. (I work downtown)

For now here's one I pulled off the web. It's not a great shot and it was during Taste Of Syracuse. Try to picture the classic globe on top.

oh thats a nice building i was using the city hall building from buffalo ny for my daily planet. I would think if its a paper that been in the biz for decades it would be in a bigger larger skyscraper. Then a small little building of only 10 floors or less.

Where to begin on this.

Superman needs a re-boot; it's now been 30+ years that Superman flicks have been stuck in the alleged "Donner-verse". I admit that before SR, I thought Singer was onto something; post-SR, I am now squarely in the camp for relaunching the franchise from the ground up. In fact, as much as I love the Williams theme, if that has to be one more casualty to getting a Superman movie worthy of today's era, then so be it.

And while I liked Routh's physical look (still have major issues on that suit), he needs to go with Singer. You can't reboot a franchise by keeping stars from the old film. It wouldn't make any sense, for one, and second, it would mean we'd be once again stuck to the Jason garbage.

And on that note, no one from "Smallville" should be in this movie, either. It'll only cause massive confusion and likely turn away casual viewers who don't follow the show. And BTW, ratings for Smallville are pretty horrible. Further, if you have Welling, you'd need to bring Durance, too, as well as any of the other necessary Superman characters.

What the movie needs is a fresh break from SR and the Donner-verse. Bring in a new name for the Man of Steel, but surround him with high recognition/high caliber stars. This means bringing in someone like Naomi Watts, Evangeline Lilly, or Katherine Heigl to play Lois Lane; Anthony Hopkins or Ian McKellen to play Jor-El. And get solid writers; bring in the DC gurus Morrison, Millar, and Loeb. But also get pulitizer bigshots such as Michael Chabon to do a rewrite. Finally, be open to the visionaries like Lee, Ross, and Byrne. I don't mean you have to do what anyone here says, but the director has to incorporate and adopt feedback from these people. They are the guideposts for making sure the next Superman movie is what it should be: a fresh start that still builds on what has come before it in terms of story, depth of characters, action, and special effects.

That Singer and co. didn't ever bother to get any thoughts from DC is the exact kind of hubris this new production can do without.

If WB and DC want Superman to be its next Batman level franchise (and it can be), get the right talent and buzz behind it.
I want to print this post out and frame it.

Superman's body is basically a massive solar battery, so I want to see him let loose in this next film with heat vision - melting steel, etc. Let's see what he can do when he turns the heat up a bit!

... and some realistic depiction of super speed

and I like this also - would like us to see that even Superman gets angry some time. This is when he finds out that Luthor is to become next President of the USA, and in a fit of anger, he totally decimates a barren, lifeless moon round Saturn.

damn, supes angry would scare the **** outta me

Totally. But the muscles aren't the point of it, it's to show an angry Superman. What does an angry Superman do? He can't just slam his fist on a table or have a tantrum - he could cause an Earthquake and kill thousands. So instead, he flies into space and takes his rage out on a barren rock.

yea that would be epic to see. I was just pointing out in that panel the artist made him way to musclely.

So i was thinking i do want a nice huge and grand looking city of the likes of nyc/la/toyko for metropolis. But if we are to see any of clark's youth in any smallville life in a new film series. How would you like it to be down. A super small village town with just a couple hundred folks living there. With a small inner town area and then huge farmlands on the outskirts. Or a more larger size town with say in the neirborhood of 4,000-15,000 residents with a small town community in the inner parts with the farm lands expanded on the outter edges?

smallville i thin could be filmed here in prosser, but alas, we are in washington state, not the east DX or the heartland though we have alot of farmland

I don't think the "mass audience" wants Richard out of the picture. I've heard more compliments on his character from "non-fans" than about any of the other people in the movie.
From the non Hype posting people I have talked to...they want more fighting/action and less of a morose Superman.

Their thoughts on the kid seem divided.

And therein lies the biggest problem of all ... a character who should have been a throw-away ended up being the most interesting and heroic one in the film.

Chalk up one more notch on the Singer belt of poor decisions made for this film.

Yea will be interesting to see how the next folks want to visualize the film and the world they are creating.
