Voltron: The Movie

I got to be honest, Casshern does nothing for me. Had some interesting visuals, but that's it. And it's nothing like the original story at all.

I've read this script, and I know what's coming. It's not good.

They are Wing Commandering this movie basically. You can't make something like VOLTRON on a moderate budget. That's like saying, oh let's make Transformers for $60 million and use lots of green screen like that other production 300!

This is not the Voltron we know and love. The script is terrible. The premise and characters are terrible. The dialogue is terrible. I mean it makes sense they got this director who is hardly doing anything right now to do this project. A guy who is not exactly in high demand and hasn't actually done a movie in three years. He's going to be their fall guy.

Hasn't Hollywood gotten the message that movies like this most faithful to their source material are more successful? Movies like 300!

I have to agree, I don't know much about Voltron, but this is going be like sky captain and world of tomorrow all over again

I thought the script for Transformers looked like garbage yet, the execution was much better than I expected. The transformers script inspite all of it's flaws looked fantastic compared to this crap. So this movie is basically just about humans with Voltron making a guest appearance in the final few minutes?

have you watch transformers lately? It is really bad and already is dated.

Yeah pretty much. We don't see the first lionbot until like halfway in.

The Robeasts are in it. They are basically like an orb that absorb junk and scrap to form themselves. So they are more like Junk beasts ;) .

Isnt Justin Mark suppose to be the IT writer right now?

Well going by the synopsis for the production, it sounds exactly the same as the Justin Marks draft I read. So its the same general BS storyline. Bizarro, it will be easier to me to answer the questions if you give me a better idea of what you want to know.

For Voltron:

Here's the deal. A group of human resistance fighters led by Princess Allura are building the Lionbots in a secret bunker in Mexico. Allura and her middle-aged, Arabian bodyguard Hunk have been searching everywhere looking for the keys to the lionbots. You see even though the Lionbots are built from scratch according to hieroglyphics an ancient prophecy dictates that they need the interstellar keys in order to make them form together to make the Voltron robot.

So in the post apocalyptic world sometime after a Drule Empire invasion that's devastated earth, Allura and Hunk are looking for the lost keys. They are able to find the last key in the FUBAR'ed NYC where Keith and Lance live. They get Keith and Lance to transport them to Mexico and that's basically most of the movie right there.

On Princess Allura:

Apparently she's an alien that came to earth from outerspace. She and one of her close confidantes (forget his name it's been about a year since I read it) go to earth in order to warn the people of earth about the Drule invasion. BUT OH NOEZ! No one believes them! She helps with the resistant movement and the building of the new Lionbots. The building is led by Sven Holgerrson who's made out to be a total *****ebag in the script. What they do to Sven is disgraceful.

Cool, thanks man. One more for now.

So this movie will take place entirely on Earth. No outer space travel what so ever? No Drule planet??

I have no idea why. Because I've read two of his scripts, Voltron and MOTU. They are both terrible.

Street Fighter looks God awful. But I mean IT screenwriter or not, he's only got ONE of his scripts in active production right now. Voltron is only in pre-production right now. MOTU hasn't really been greenlit. Nor has Supermax. WB doesn't seem ready to commit to that one either with everything going on. Though WB is pretty notorious for that.

Totally Earth bound, nothing else. I think at the very, very end Voltron is flying in Earth's orbit as they do a stupid voice-over message to the Drule that basically rips off Neo's monologue at the end of the Matrix.

The Drule are mentioned but never seen. The only physical reference to them are the Junkbeasts.

So in a way, do you think they are trying to steer away from this looking too much like Transformers?? I mean, two movies featuring giant robots. People who don't know the history behind them, just the movies, could get confused thinkin they are tied in. Or they could think this movie is ripping off the other.

Know what I mean? Do you (VileOne, Movies205) guys have a similar thought to this? Or see it in another way.

Latino Review is absolute garbage though so I am not surprised. Like I said I know nothing about Voltron but this Marks guy doesn't sound that hot like these guys are making him out to be.

Well El Mayimbe is more than likely a stooge. None of his reports are really credible. I kind of discovered that when I actually read some of the scripts he was reporting on.

Either that or really just has bad taste for scripts.

I mean, after reading this one from start to finish, I can't believe anyone was raving about it.

The Keith depicted in this script could just as easily be done by The Rock or Jason Statham getting a quick paycheck. There's nothing especially Keith about it.

Seriously?? Who wants to see Junkbeasts over Drules?? That's like taking Decepticons out of Transformers. (The only quick referene I had). If the ending is like that, maybe they are hinting at the Drules being seen in a possible sequel. Voltron flying in the orbit could show us the next film would take place on another planet.

Dude he raved about Transformers the Movie and what's worse is that he's not even analyzing the scripts he just gives a ******ed boring ass summary everytime and then will give a one paragraph fanboy rant... That guy sucks :(

My feeling would be that there will BE NO SEQUEL!

Remember Fantastic Four 2?

This kind of stinks of the we can't show Galactus crap written all over it. And we are not getting a Silver Surfer movie with Galactus. Fox ain't making it.

Wow, that is bad. I may try and read this script. Just to see how bad they butchered my childhood favorite.

Were getting the Lions right ?

The Lionbots are in it. But they are visually described as being made from spare parts and whatever scrap people could find. The script said "traffic cones for teeth"

That doesn't sound very appealing :csad:. TPTB should remain as true as they can to the originals as possible.

Ugh, I thought they would be the one thing that kept it's true form. Sounds like Magneto came and in and threw them together.:csad:

It is funny that even with a different studio's involvement people are not happy. Wasn't this suppose to be a fox movie? Well seems like Voltron fans won't get a faithful adaptation even with fox not involved in it. How unlucky.

So your expecting to see The Voltron: The Third Dimension version ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX45ViowOV0

Well I don't know. I'm just making an assumption that, if the script is dark and post apocolyptic as it the review says. Then yeah, they might tone down the colors alot. Hell, the Lionbots probably won't even be colored as much as they are.. Maybe they'll just have some small hints of their color.

Why? What were you hoping/expecting? Would you want something darker? Or just stick to the basics??:woot:

I skimmed to the end of the script where Voltron is formed and well:

Once all the Lionbots form made of garbage and spare parts from cars and earthbound materials, Voltron looks shiny and epic (I guess like the show?)
