Walking Through Pryde: The Kitty Thread

I loved kitty, Ellen Page is awesome. As for iceman, isn't he supposed to be funny? He had no sense of humor in this or in x2.
He is but he never has been funny. In fact the sarcastic wit that Wolverine has sported so much of, really should be Bobby's trait.

But yes Ellen Page was awesome, they need to do an Excaliber spinoff with her, Daniel Cudmore (who eventually joined Excaliber) and Cummings.

i heard daniel cudmore cant act though, thats why he only has one line. lol. what a shame.

She, Beast and Iceman were really the only one's I thought were treated with respect (for the X-Men). However it may have been because the movie left such little room for character development that characters like Kitty and Iceman (who overall got only a little screentime) weren't present enough to be f---ed up. Colossus obviously was shafted, but you cannot say he was out of character I suppose. It seemed to me characters like Wolverine, Juggernaut, Storm, Magneto and Xavier who had a lot more dialogue got really mishandeled. Wolverine was some Cyclops and then Wolverine morphing mutant. And really the characters had no motivation to do what they were doing other than "oh well I guess its just time to save the world...ho hum". Whereas characters like Kitty and Iceman are allong for the ride anyways, so a lack of motivation on their part really does not matter. Plus the small love story was fun and actually involved character development since it did not involve explosions, which were often used in place of that. Also Ellen Page is just so damn cute she worked.
Kitty and Beast worked as they allowed us to form an emotional attachment in their brief scenes.

I don't really have a problem with a character not getting ****ed up as a result of not having enough screentime. Anything that stops them getting ****ed up is a positive. I don't know at what point the desision is made (if it is a conscious one) to try and portray/ignore the essence of a character. It's very frustrating when the filmmakers show that they can understand certain characters so well and then don't even try with others.

But agreed - Ellen Page is damn cute.

Colossus does not need a ton of lines, he is the strong silent type. Actually they can even work the bad acting to their advantage since Colossus is somewhat of a simple man, he does not have a lot to say, and Singer showed that with very small added scenes (like him drawing Rogue and Bobby) you can flesh out a character like Colossus with minimal dialogue.

I totally agree actually. If you can't do a character right or can't do them justice, don't do them at all.

ShadowBoxing.. very good point on Colussus and acting. kudos. kudos.
If I were doing X3, I would have added a little scene maybe at the end, maybe at or around the beginning (have the Beast and Professor going around the garden reminiscing) and show Colossus tending to the lawn on a tractor teaching Illyana how to drive it (have a 5 year old blonde girl with him).

When I see Cudmore I see Colossus. As long as he doesn't get any important lines he should be able to maintain that illusion.

kitty rocks in this movie!! the part with jugg oo that was so cool!!! ellen did a fantastic job!! she is one of my favorite characters!

^ I agree. I was expecting a lot more. She had a couple of nice scenes, but she didn't have much of an impact on the film in general.

I think I'll change my decision.
I don't know why.... it's just maybe because rogue has something kitty doesn't that I like...
Yeah, Kitty has to get padded braws. :o

I liked bobby in this one and Kitty too :) She rocked! I liked it when she said "D***head!!" LOL :)

Made me feel for him and her. Especially the shot of him in the jet.. and the music that was playing was really good and suited the scene, especially when he looks over at Kitty...then theres a shot of her... a shot of Colossus and a shot of Beast... great scene. Loved it.

What do u think?

lol...People were talking about her skating scene with Bobby during the Thursday showing...

I heard one woman saying, "That is not right! She's like 12 years old! She looks like she's 12!" :p

Yeah...It was actually better, ant...Iceman still had true feelings for Rogue. Kitty's interaction with Bobby was there only so that Rogue could finally get that emotional push that she needed to take the cure...It wasn't too serious, but it was just enough (a kiss might've been too much)..
