The Dark Knight Was Ledger Screen-Tested?

Yes it was a joke.

Playing on the old Schumacher-Clooney rumour.

I'm sure that Ledger will have had a screentest - I think Warner Brothers will have wanted to check on him.

I just think it's the timing of the announcement that has thrown people.

Most were expecting to hear that Bettany or Hulme had landed it at the end of the year.

Don't we all?

He probably did in Nolan's garage or that of Goyer's. LOL!

He's not my favorite for the Joker but too late now.

Hopefully on the DVD. I REALLY want a Joker special on the DVD with interview with Nicholson, Ledger, Nolan, Goyer, Bale, Moore disecting the character. That'd be too cool.

can someone paste the BOF v LR article before i have to make a thread?

He had to be screentested. That's the only way I can see WB agreeing to such a major role being cast. And, it'd be nice for Nolan to see him do his thing.

And, didn't ale screentest? If he screentested, EVERYONE must screentest....

Perhaps when he was pretending to do the whoopie during the filming of Brokeback Mountain he was heard with a cruelly psychotic laugh, and everyone ended up pointing to him with one word on their lips, "Joker".

and there have probably been an endless number of makeup mockups for all the rumored actors to see how they would "look" as Mr. J.

why the hell would he need to be screen tested!?
they took one look at the song and dance number he did in "10 Things I Hate About You" and were sold.

Mr. Thing nice avvy, love that pic :)

Well I know one thing that would be AWESOME to have on the Special Features of the dvd. All of the screentests for the Joker.

All I have to say is that Nolan picked Bale which has worked out very wel. If he thinks Ledger was amazing than I have to believe him.

^ What they said.....did anyone manage to get the article before it was taken down?...

Guys, trust nolan on this.

Remember a few years back when a man by the name of Cillian Murphy was confirmed to get the role of Scarecrow? I know at first i was like "who the crap," because i had never heard of the guy.

A lot of people on this site were furious because the "big names" or people they wanted for the role didn't get it.

Look how that turned out.

Of course he was screen tested.

You don't offer a role like this to an actor without seeing how they perform in the role first.

It all depends. Nicholson wasn't tested was he? An actor like Ledger I am sure he was despite his recent success of Brokeback Mountain.

He tested for the role of course. I'm also sure of it that production is a lot further along than people think and not only did he read actual dialogue from the script, I'm sure Bale tested with him..............

would explain why Bale was talking in such high tones about the Ledgeman.

Isn't there a law by which every major role in ANY production (movies or theatre) must have the actors tested to ensure fair competition...?
